  1. I'm going to guess that he got Flash Player from Adobe, and that it was the vector for the hack. Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader seem to be in constant need of updating because of an endless supply of security vulnerabilities. Same goes for Java. Popular browsers can render most common Flash and PDF content without the Adobe plugins installed, so I removed them from my system long ago. There are times when I wish I had Java installed, but not badly enough to put up with updating every time I turn around.

  2. I went back to the Never10 and also used it to delete the Win 10 files it found and I haven't encountered any problems yet.

  3. Just got off the phone with ATX support - my 2013, 2014 and 2015 ATX programs would not work. A hacked Adobe Flash update put a rootkit in my computer, and went after all financial programs (QB, etc). I can't say enough about ATX support. In less than 20 minutes from the time he remoted into my computer, he had me up and running! Now that's what I call service! Very professional and very competent. Wait time and service was less than 30 minutes. That's acceptable to me.

  5. Just talked to my IT person and he said to go for it. He has used Steve Gibson utilities in the past and this advice from Abby Normal may help him to solve a lot of problems. So, thank you.

  6. Ugh, yes, I have it, created last Sept. File properties show 5.68 MB and Never10 is reporting ~ 6.1MB in 20K+ files and folders.

  7. I turn off my computer every evening. When I came in this morning and started it up, it was nice not to have to deal with the annoying Win 10 popup, since I ran the Never10 utility. Thanks very much for that link.

  9. That's why they're switching them to real time and releasing them as soon as they're available. I just don't want to updating every week instead of once a month, but security updates are important. We do a lot of work online.
