  1. I have not actually had anyone able to take the credit because of the minimum wage portion of the provision, BUT it is my understanding that the carry-back/carry-forward rules only come into play if there is no income tax in the current year. In other words, the credit applies first to 2015 and is not refundable; so if it is not used up you would carry any remaining credit back one year and any left after that may be carried forward for twenty years. IRS has informational sheet at IRS page. You might find that helpful.

  2. Fifteen years is a long time, but 9/11 is remembered vividly by all of us as the most profound and defining day in America's history. We lost nearly three thousand heroes that day, civilians and first responders alike. As a former firefighter in NYC, I know why 343 firefighters and 60 police officers were killed. There is a segment of a bible proverb in every firehouse, "Greater Love Hath No Man" (than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends). Those first responders ascending the towers' staircases knew what their fate might be. But they still tried to get as many people out as possible. That's the job, that's what we do. September 11th is called Patriot Day, a day of Service and Remembrance. A fitting dedication to honor all those lost on that awful day. First responders around the world do their job with unwavering dedication, continuing the legacies of those lost. We will be doing the same as we remember and serve those in need. Please say a prayer for all those who have become sick from 9/11 related diseases. 120 NYC firefighters have died since, and many others are battling for their lives.

  4. I quit smoking that day; because I still had CHOICES. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing.

  5. A "real" conservation easement is a pretty cool deal for the owner of the property. I did not do the taxes on the one I was involved in, I was working for the company. A local quasi-government agency paid the farmer I was working for to agree to never allow his land to be developed, it had to stay farmland forever. This land is on a highly desirable freeway intersection. This transaction was never intended to be a charitable contribution of the value of the easement, but it comes down to the same principle, "what is the value of the easement?". OP sounds like someone has put together some kind of real estate holding company that is going to donate conservation easements on the land they hold and pass the charitable contribution through to the owners of the entity. Could be legit or could be a scam. The devil is in the details. Tom Newark, CA

  7. I enjoy playing with them. When they ask my name, I give them the name of one of our Government Administration people. I then pretend that I DO owe tens of thousands and have been running. I have kept one of these on the phone for about 10 minutes before I slipped up. I am looking to improve on my personal best in this competition. The longer I keep them busy, the less time for them to find someone gullible. It is a shame though, that 1 out of 7 of their calls finds someone uninformed and gullible to send them money.
