  1. No, the "page" button is not functional on either of the 2 input screens, but is on the 2 other worksheets for summary and detail totals. Of course, my version is only through update #9, but for some reason it seems ATX didn't want the input pages to be able to print.
  2. I'm not surprised about the worksheets for the lines like Other Deductions being off. I've posted about that on 2 or 3 other posts. You could choose to fix those, if let them be if the totals are correct as long as you remember that the conversion return is not the actual return that was filed with the IRS. If I had lots of very large and complex returns to convert, I'd probably do them in batches too. One thing I would suggest is that if your state never required the county of residence to be entered, Drake does require this on the demographics screen, so you'll find it easiest to set up a macro for the county where most of your clients reside.
  3. As jshtax posted in the Drake subforum here, Drake has put their conversion package for converting from ATX back up on their website.
  4. Is this a question about restricted stock units? RSUs are taxed differently than statutory or nonstatutory employee stock purchase plans that you may have dealt with in the past.
  5. The poll was in General Chat, posted near the end of May. You won't be able to find it by going back through the pages any more, but performing a narrow search for a word like "poll" will bring it up. I was thinking about doing one again once many more of the members have returned next season.
  6. I'd be more inclined to look for a recently retired or laid off office worker, maybe someone looking to supplement their social security with a little income but doesn't want a permanent full time position. That person would be seasoned in the workings of an office, handling paper flow, scheduling, etc. I know someone that would be perfect if only you were in southeastern PA. She worked for the firm I came out of, she moved away and back again, and she is now my client. I wish I had enough extra work to hire her! Maybe you could try your church bulletin board or newsletter.

  8. If this transaction is because the RSU became vested, that income is reported on the W-2 and taxed as ordinary income. It's my understanding that RSUs are only taxed as cap gains if they've been held beyond the vesting date and sold later on, and only then would they be reported on Sch D.
  9. It does ask...sometimes. For me it asked for the total estimated income for 2014 for each of us. Then it went to a screen that asked yes/no if I had any income from things like job, self employment, retirement, investments, soc security, etc. If answering yes, then a screen appears with a drop down menu to choose the appropriate income and enter additional data. It goes through the same questions for spouse. That's where I needed to go back and edit. I entered all of the income and then proceeded to enter s.e. and investment income and it was duplicating it into the totals I first entered. When I tried to edit, that's when it lost data and now thinks I'm not even going to file. I'm not sure, but maybe my problems are occurring because of some sort of conflicting answers once I went back to edit, kind of like after I'd set up my initial user name that it decided to entirely capitalize for me.
  10. The healthsherpa site now has the ability to enter multiple people and their ages. However, the prices aren't changing when checking/unchecking the 'smoker' box.
  11. I'm curious about the self-employment P&L statement that is requested. What period of time is requested, and how detailed would that have to be if the income varies quite a bit throughout the year? I do believe my original app is corrupted. The site 'found' the rest of my input and allowed me to make an edit. However, now it keeps saying that my husband and I won't be filing a tax return in 2014 no matter whether I edit it or not.
  12. I thought I was doing good with the govt site, got right on, had no trouble at all verifying my identity, and completed the application through to being able to review it. I wanted to see the prices before I go to my agent. If any of you complete the application on healthcare.gov, my advice is to NOT go back and edit any info once you've completed the questionnaire. It lost more than half my data because I tried to edit something. What happens if I simply start another application? Back to the site that Taxed posted above, thank you! What I'm unsure of is how it handles the pricing if I select "you and spouse" vs "only you over 50". What does this site do with the pricing if we are both over 50?

Hopefully so. It's been pretty good again until today.

Hi Eric, earlier today I got the same SQL error, but now I'm getting some new error messages when accessing the site or moving between screens, different from before. I pasted them into a pdf, if that is helpful. Are you currently working behind the scenes?
  15. No, if you've been to the official forum, there are a few that have complained that the software was crashing, not opening, and losing data as recent as a week ago. Anyway, I was talking about the possibility of the rollover data having problems, not anything to do with running a demo.
  16. Jack, clicking on that link "tax return preparer" in windmill's post above will take you to the NY website's page that outlines who must register and who is exempt. You/your firm would be exempt as EAs.
  17. Isn't anyone worried about whether the data will roll over correctly? Wasn't the 2012 program losing data when creating the e-file, saving, closing, then reopening? Sorry, I wouldn't have too much confidence in the rollovers if I stayed with ATX. I'd be rechecking every one of those returns, and if that's the case, you might as well convert to other software. After all, we're only going into the second week of November now and the program usually isn't released for several more weeks. I sincerely hope that those of you that are patiently waiting for the rollout of ATX 2013 have at least spent some time this offseason to demo other software.

Thanks for that reminder to donate, Jack. Eric, thanks for taking care of us so well.
  19. I have a top loading Maytag Centennial that we purchased 3.5 years ago that I mostly like. We've had no problems with it at all. It does have bleach and softener dispensers, and a very nice high capacity stainless steel wash basket. I think it cleans the clothes really well and has lots of settings. It's the first washer that I've ever owned that has a delicate cycle. Husband didn't understand the necessity of this in shopping for the first appliances. There are two things about it that I would change if I could. The first is that it automatically senses the water level needed once the lid is closed and the machine is started. This feature really does work well and saves water, but not if you are like me and occasionally drop a sock or find one more piece to add to the load after closing the lid. If the lid is opened after the machine is started it defaults to the highest water level. It's possible to raise the lid about 1/4" and slip that wayward sock in, but any more than that and it shuts off and defaults. Annoying! The second thing is that the wash time is the same length of time for all selections no matter whether it's sturdy/extra soiled or delicate with the only difference being the amount of agitation. That seems like a waste of time and electric to me. I've never owned or used a front load so I can't comment there.
  20. I've had slow response on this site for about a week now. For the last hour, I've not been able to access at all and getting either "page cannot be displayed" and lastly SQL error without any error message shown. At least I now know it's not just me or my computer. Maybe Eric's been working on something?
  21. Yes, that might be a good deal. When I posted above, I realized that your credit card would be on file, but that if CCH tried to charge you that the charge could be disputed. That was one call I made that my credit card company said would be difficult to dispute last year because I had prepaid in the previous May. My credit card company couldn't understand that it is common in this industry for users to renew early to take advantage of a discount. In the end I did receive my refund because I followed their policy to the letter, including using the preferred method of request via their website. But I also followed that up with a letter in writing that I faxed, kept a copy of the transmission report, and included all of that in the mail also. Overkill to be sure. After that I called the new account rep and the accounting dept every single week until I had my money. It took until early April, but I did get the money back.
  22. I would want to know how this offer works with their refund policy. Their current policy says that a user requesting a refund is charged $20 per e-filed return starting with the second one. If you have agreed to purchase the software on this deferred payment plan and choose to not pay for it, wouldn't you still be obligated to pay $20 per return that you did complete through the end of Feb? This was one problem some disgruntled users had last year when they thought about leaving, that they had filed so many returns that the $20 per return charge ate up the entire refund, had they asked for one. How many returns do you file early in the season?
  23. Margaret, did you run it from one of the links in the ATX blog or from the letter? The letter only came out yesterday is the one that contained the faulty link.
  24. Several users over on the official forum are reporting that the system analysis tool that is accessed by the link in the letter does not run. One person that called in was on hold for about 20 minutes until the rep provided a different link. Sheesh!
  25. Rich, I am sorry to hear that the cancer wasn't completely removed with the surgery. That is such a hard decision to go for the double mastectomy, especially when still recovering from the first surgery. I'm praying for you both.
