It must match EXACTLY what is on her Social Security Card. Visual confirmation is the only way to be sure.

Client's new spouse refuses to file taxes...on principal
Jack from Ohio replied to Janitor Bob's topic in General Chat
Agreed. Whatever consultant gave you that information is in error and if it is ever investigated, the money that is owed back will be treated the same way as delinquent student loans and the amounts WILL be repaid. I have three kids that went to college a total of 11 years between them. jasdim is correct. -
I can understand how a 1/10 second click can add up to much lost time.... No way to turn it off. It is a safety mechanism.

Has anyone ever received a CP2000 for 1099-Q? 17 years, I have never seen one.
-
Only put on line 21, any taxable amount of the disbursement.
-
1099-Q distributions can be used for ANY educational expenses. If used for anything else, it becomes taxable with a penalty.

Whether the donations are deductible is not the call of the church. The tax preparer, using regulations as the guide, decide if it is deductible per IRS. The church may only state that certain donations are "not" deductible.

Microsoft Security Essentials does 3 things. It (supposedly) watches for viruses. Secondly, it throws all that Bling spam etc at you. Thirdly, it looks for any other spyware or anti-virus programs and interferes with their operations, sometimes triggering false alerts. Microsoft Security Essentials should NOT be used on systems running ATX (or any other system in my opinion.) -
ALL Ohio cities MUST accept the general forms. It is part of the Ohio Revised Code.

Time for drone season to start. All us redneck types like hunting things that fly. Keep our shotgun skills honed!! -
I like the drop down box for choosing the city this year. MUCH better than last year. I am using the generic 99% of the time. Even for RITA. Did I say that I hate the RITA forms?
-
Add new forms. Type in "oh" then "g". Choose the general form. There will be a drop down box in the information page to allow you to choose the city.

Correct. The development person I spoke to in Wed. even told me to be sure to update the server first. This is typical CCH coming to life again. First finger on the hand doesn't know what the second finger is doing, much less the other hand. CCH management still ranks a -3 on communicating to its technical people. TYPICAL CCH AGAIN!!! -

At the firm, I have 350 efiles waiting. All will have to be redone!! I complained loud and long and in not so nice words to my contacts at ATX. If you only do a few hundred returns, it is not so painful. I will be redoing e-files for the next 2 weeks. Had to redo 51 today. -
Sounds like an arms length transaction and no loss deduction. Actually, not enough information to decide for sure. How did he own/rent it "with" a friend, but he is the sole owner and then he sold it to the person he "owned/rented" it with? Warning bells on this one....

I make 5-10 times as much working at home. I have cut back my hours working at the firm. In a couple more seasons, I will have a large enough personal practice to stop driving 26 miles one way to the firm 5 days a week.

No need to go kill the process in the task manager. Once the program completes its backup when shutting down, it will stop. Usually less than 30 seconds. Overthinking this one, you are!! If you have a router in your office, there is no need for ANY software, including Windows, firewalls. Turn them all off if you have a router. -

Well, our icemaker just started leaking internally last night. Filled the bucket with one giant glacier looking ice sculpture.... Has ATX learned to connect to other things or is this just a giant cosmic conspiracy..... -
Non-resident. That is what he is for tax purposes. Military privilege.
