  1. I just received this in an e-mail.... "I have a question for you. My son, 26, grad student, who didn't work, believes that he might get a refund. I say that he doesn't need to file, as he had no income. Does he need to file and would he get a refund? He only has a 1098-T form from college with his loans and cost of college." I guess I expect a bit more "common sense and intelligence from a grad student??

  7. Everyone should go to the site and get their own transcripts just so you will know the process. That is how I know what a PIA it is.
  8. The process is cumbersome and the identity verification will confuse 80+% of people trying to use it. But, if you get past all the ramparts, it is very sweet to use!

  11. If you have to click the message more than twice for the same instance, then you may have a problem. I have forwarded a possible fix to the developers. Waiting for responses. They checked my system yesterday and found no configuration problems, but the problem still pops up occasionally.

  14. Admin console is found in Return Manager, Support, About, then the link is at the bottom of the page. No real reason to know its location as changing things there causes trouble unless you are absolutely sure of what and why you are changing things. This should only be accessed at the instructions of Tech Support personnel. Currently 80% of the calls with trouble to ATX are related to people making changes there.
  15. Move every cent of business from them. They have obviously forgotten who pays who's paycheck and have no clue about customer service or loyalty. It is the exact same disease that is permeating the big banks everywhere. Look local, consider credit unions. We have had much luck there.
  16. I use a small local hometown bank. I have NEVER been asked for ID when making a deposit. Big banks have forgotten who is the customer. When my kids were still in college, we would regularly make deposits into their checking account. I suppose those banks asking ID would not allow such? Monster size banks, monster size attitude, customer service non-existent. It is why we left the big bank 8 years ago.
  17. Mine have always been the date in the CA efile info screen. Not on the 8879.
  18. That is a CA thing. If the date is not within the last 72 hours before submitting, it will reject.
  19. Always update from within the program. If the program icon is red, click on it and allow the updates. Same goes for Thursday. The only exception is if you have a server only machine. Then you must download the update file and run it on the server only machine. Each machine in your network must perform the program update. Do not delay. If you are not at 13.3, update all computers right away. No reason to wait for e-file.
  20. Update to 13.3. When you reinstalled, did you use the CD or the file from the website? You have many issues that need the attention of tech support to configure correctly. The only ATX2013 that installed backup to the System32 folder was the preview (beta) version. It should have been completely removed and all folders associated with it before installing the release version. Throw the installation instructions that came with the CD away, and hang the installation CD on the wall for decoration. I have posted several threads and posts about the problems you are experiencing.

  22. The box labeled "Copy backups to local storage" will disappear while the backup to the external drive is happening. When the box reappears, it is finished. I just performed it and there is a status bar that shows up as well.
  23. I have not even looked at a sid #. Neither did I ever look at DCN #. efiled 650+ at the firm with no SID conflicts as posted by others. I guess I am just missing the boat?
  24. Stop wasting your time exporting files. Do an external backup (not from the Admin Console) as often as makes you feel comfortable. Return Manager, returns, backup returns, Copy backups to local storage. This will be all the external backup you will need. Program updates work perfectly from within the program.
