not only overwhelmed but getting very irritated at retry server
Jack from Ohio replied to WITAXLADY's topic in General Chat
The server error is NOT the ATX server. It is the server portion of the program. Two totally unrelated things. -
not only overwhelmed but getting very irritated at retry server

Check your e-mail WITAXLADY. I am on this one with the design team looking for at least a workaround. SCL, all her systems are WIN7 and are well up to spec. I was at her office and know this first hand. -
As long as you convince the compliance auditor that your word is solid documentation, your plan is fine.

How to complete 1099 for client that paid for work on rental

Use the Payroll Compliance program and efile. This is not a company secret, but all the other responses require so many unnecessary steps. -

No it does not work for me. I have a very established method of verifying identity of each of my clients and their dependents as well as documenting that any children are truly able to be claimed by them.. No ID and/or information, no tax return. Not a single person has complained. 3 years now, same process every year. No complaints. Everyone simply complied. I guess if you have clientele that are feared of their identity being established or verified, your experience may be different. My office would pass the compliance audit my Ms. Hawkins. I would love for them to audit me.

If you ever listen to a seminar put on by Karen Hawkins at an IRS Forum, you will understand why I say what I say. She has no one to answer to and considers all preparers to be crooked and deceitful. Just ask anyone who has heard her presentation about preparer professional responsibility and you will hear them say the same thing. Her title is: Director, Office of Professional Responsibility at Treasury Dept. Internal Revenue Service. I know of preparers that had EFIN and PTIN cancelled without any warning, hearing or other advance notice. The paper process to appeal takes months and months.... Play loose and easy if you will, with that W_t_h at the head of that department, no one is safe.

Disable all your anti-virus before you reinstall

If you apply the standards to only your EIC clients, then you raise the suspicion that you may know more than you have reported. Otherwise, why did you do it for only your EIC clients? Must be applied across the board.

Reinstall it.

You would have to prove to a compliance auditor that you can verify that you know they are who they say they are. Your word alone will be worthless.

Question on IRS Where is my Refund Page

My IE has had no problem. Macintosh users should have a Windows emulation program and use IE to access government websites. -
Award Miles - Unreimbursed Business Expense?
Jack from Ohio replied to ETax847's topic in General Chat
My feeling is he can deduct his cost of the award miles as 2106 expense. -
The ones laying around are still new in the packages from systems I have purchased.

If you have a good hardware firewall in your router, disable ALL software firewalls, and set permissions on the server machine to allow all users access to the ATX files. Check the power settings on all your machines. Doing this reduced the occurrences here to once an hour or so. Eliminate all toolbars. Eliminate any "we will do XXXXXXX for you" programs.

I was actually rolling over the next 5 I am doing. Now waiting on the zip file to extract that the client sent me. I am the king of multi-task at the computer. Two monitors are a multi-tasker's dream!!

The dishwasher runs without attention, but in the time it takes to put it in, take it out, spend time drying it, then testing it to see if it works, I can do an entire tax return and earn $200. Spending an hour+ on a $12 item is not worth my time. Same goes for printers....

If you prepare a return for someone who is not the person they say they are, sign it at the bottom, you are declaring that all on the return is complete and accurate. How can you sign that if you cannot verify their identity and that the SS# you have used is correct. Why would you NOT want to verify identity? I am missing that whole train of thought.

Question on IRS Where is my Refund Page
Jack from Ohio replied to Naveen Mohan from New York's topic in General Chat
Only the IRS can answer. Him calling will be an adventure of futility. They cannot, or will not say the reason. Until it has been 21 days after his return was filed, he has no reason to think anything is wrong. Even if it has been reviewed, nothing can be done to expedite. Too many people in too big a hurry. This has led to the GIANT problem of fraud as the IRS tried to be "customer friendly" and do things quickly. -
There is a plethora of keyboards in my office/garage/computer work bench. No way am I spending time running a $12 item through the dishwasher!!

KC is exactly correct. It is the only method. Increased fees apply.

I am in agreement. He certainly has not paid attention to any information put out by ATX or he would not have waited this long to update. I smell a troll....

I have started telling people that each time they call, I move their return down by 5 in the queue. That usually stops the calling.
