  1. Just complying with the newest MEF protocols required by the IRS.
  2. The 1099-A is sales transaction form. Consider the transaction as him selling the property to the bank for the "Balance of principal outstanding" and it will all fall into place. I will look for the IRS pub with this in it, but I know that what I am saying is correct. I am not familiar with the flow chart you speak of, but if it is about debt cancellation, it does not apply to this situation. When the bank disposes of the property, then there may be debt forgiviness and 1099-C. The debt forgiveness MAY not be taxable, but that is entirely another issue with different rules. The attorney is obviously not up to date on tax law. I will post the IRS pub when I find it.
  3. This was on a rental property. The 1099-A is a sales document. You must treat the property as sold for the amount of the mortgage that was cancelled. You must also recapture depreciation in the normal manner. This may result in a capital gain if the amount cancelled was larger than the value of the property. This happens if the market value has dropped since the purchase and/or there have been cash-out re-fi's in the past. This may also trigger taxable gains as well, depending upon his AGI. No debt forgiveness until a 1099-C is issued. THIS IS NOT A DEBT CANCELLATION. Very often clients that allow rentals to be foreclosed on end up with a taxable gain and owe capital gains on the foreclosure.
  4. When is 12.10 supposed to be released? I will NOT log onto the other board!!
  5. My payer manager works now after installing 12.9
  6. Schedule C or CEZ two times. One for each organization.
  7. I proactively tell all my clients 10-30 days. I direct them to the "Where's my refund" page at irs.gov and instruct them that I cannot affect or find out any more than they can once the return has been acknowleged. This is ALL the doings of the IRS and I choose not to handhold people that won't listen. I also very emphatically tell them not to spend the money until it is in their hands. Of course, no one listens.....
  8. Everything is working fine on my standalone system at home. So far so good. However, at the firm network server with 10 workstations, it is total program devastation.... Downloaded the file from the site. Closed down all workstations, computers completely off. Installed the update file on the server. NOTHING CHANGED!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! PROGRAM STILL CRASHES AT RANDOM OR ANYTIME TRYING TO CREATE E-FILE. I have done every step talked about and more. Called sales and demanded to speak to someone who could get me proseries fx. The salesperson told me a supervisor would need to call me. That has been 3 hours ago. I am calling other companies now. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, and I am a blithering idiot. CCH as a company SUCKS. ATX and the development team have been gutted to the point that ATX is no longer a viable product for a network or anyone over 500 clients.
  9. YEP! I am sooooooooooooooo over being patient with CCH. Hedged my bets on 12.8. Network at the firm: Downloaded the file from the site. Closed down all workstations, computers completely off. 10. I have discovered that ATX2012 is NOT FRIENDLY to XP. In the last two weeks, I have converted 4 machines from XP to WIN7. Each one reduced a few of the issues. Now on the other side of 12.8.... Downloaded the file from the site. Closed down all workstations, computers completely off. Installed the update file on the server. NOTHING CHANGED!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! 14. No credit. Not even for books.
  15. These are returns that have been completed or almost completed and we need to add information or create the e-file. I have done every patch and repair suggested. I just installed update 12.8. ROFLMAO Nothing seems to be any better.
  16. Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me... Fool me three times, I am a blithering idiot!!!
  17. That will work, but the return has been completed. Trying not to start over.
  18. We have several returns that we cannot open with the following three screens and messages: Can't open return - "Could not access FAM client folder. Please try again. Client 'CID0594883289' has been already deleted The return is currently locked by the Fixed Asset Manager application. Returns can only be used by one application at a time. Pleast try opening the return later or close Fixed Asset Manager. We do not use Fixed Asset Manager, and no matter what we try, nothing seems to fix this issue. I haven't found any reference in the knowledge board and I refuse to log into the Corporate discussion board. Any help from anyone wold be greatly appreciated.
  19. OK, only one major issue that everyone is having is addressed in this update. Have the designers been sleeping?? I am, for the first time this year, calling this morning.... I may spend all day, but it will decide the fate of our 2 companies and ATX.
  20. Just throw Elrod some frickin bananas!! Those will appeel to him!!!
  21. Last word from IRS, Feb. 28 or later.
  22. Where do you see this information?
  23. Where is this information you speak of?
  24. https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp The link is also on the homepage of www.irs.gov. I tell all my/our clients 10-30 days. No one calls me to ask. There is no way we can expedite this. FROM THE IRS on "Where's My Refund" page" You can generally expect the IRS to issue your refund in less than 21 calendar days after we receive your tax return. Use this tool to check on the status of your refund. It provides the most up-to-date information the IRS has. There’s no need to call us unless Where’s My Refund? tells you to do so. Where’s My Refund? is updated every 24 hours – usually overnight -- so you only need to check once a day. I also, in written form and verbal form say the following... "Due to many possible situations concerning the timing of your tax refund(s) do not spend the money until it is in your bank account." No one listens, but all know that they were informed.
