  1. It is my experience that, until a business shows a PROFIT of over $100K, there is no tax benefit that outweighs the extra expense to being an S-Corp. (legally, that is) I have yet to see as start-up business grow that large in 2-3 years.
  2. The price difference is not worth all the hassle.... MAX is the best deal. Unlimited everything.
  3. I bought the MAX program and the Payroll program was included at no charge. Unlimited
  4. These are correct answers!!!
  5. Note: Improvements keep rolling in for 214!!! (s)
  6. I did not choose this career for warm fuzzies and personal kudos from my clients. I started my business with a profit and income motive.
  7. Only AFTER taking a proper and reasonable salary on a W-2, with withholdings. This also includes unemployment taxes and workers compensation. Best to stay as a partnership.
  8. You are correct. All income is subject to SE.
  9. I sent you a PM as well. I can help you.
  10. You are correct. In addition, people with Medicaid will not receive a 1095. People eligible for Medicaid are exempt from having to have insurance.
  11. NOOOOO If the program was already installed, it is only a configuration fix. Also, NEVER install from the CD. Always download the install file from the website.
  12. Too broad, and therefore incorrect. 2014 tax year, only 1095-A will be issued. 2015 1095-A will be issued from the marketplace. All insurers will send 1095-B. Only employers with 100 or more full time, or equivalent, workers are required to send 1095-C 2016 1095-A will be issued from the marketplace. Insurers will send 1095-B. Only employers with 50 or more full time, or equivalent, workers are required to send 1095-C The 1095-C should be sent with employee's W-2 for 2015 & later. In addition, people with Medicaid will not receive a 1095. People eligible for Medicaid are exempt from having to have insurance.
  13. Agree completely with KC.
  14. This is a very dangerous process if not totally familiar with the proper configuration of the programs. NOT RECOMMENDED
  15. Your installation is not configured properly, IF you are using WIN7 PRO.
  16. Looks like the answer is YES. That is the information I was looking for. This is an important tool for us, if a client gets audited.
  17. But was this changed by the extender law that was passed? That is the question at hand. The 179 deduction was raised to $500,000.
  18. All items struck through are NOT ALLOWED. Any compensation in lieu of a company provided group health plan must be added as wages subject to FICA. PERIOD. It CANNOT BE TAX FREE FRINGE BENEFITS. Read the regs again.
  19. Can anyone point me to documentation that the extended 179 rules include the ability for us to use 179 election on Form 1040X for 2014? This was in place for 2011, 2012 & 2013. I can find that the total amount allowed was put back at $500,000. This is an important fact for possible audit of clients for their 2014 tax returns.
  20. It should go with the Ohio. Only efile one SD per return. If there are more than one, duplicate the return, print one, delete the one you printed and e-file the other. We have this regularly with part-year non-resident.
  21. Starting on Jan. 20, you will be able to file both Fed & Ohio. But... Only after you update the forms and possibly the program for 2012 & 2013.
  22. And just how does not making the tool useable change anything about the way the IRS will do what they do??
  23. Three hole paper, duplex printing, cheap 1" binder.
  24. I printed mine too. Send me a PM?? I have a couple questions about after tax season.
  25. We just bought new ones for the firm. Brother. The ability to refill is still there. No chips, but the printers have a counter. Minor glitches when I can refill an $89 cartridge for $11 and get the same page count. I always get 2 refills before the roller goes bad, some as many as 4 refills. The new carts take a couple more small steps to refill, but the process is just the same.
