  1. WRONG!! No exceptions for filing late for Corp, S-Corp, Trusts or Partnerships. Late filing penalty will be assessed and they are quite steep. Maybe his paying them will motivate him in the future> For all those that will say write a letter, that has stopped working. Had 3 last year. First time late for all three. Letters were rejected. Penalty enforced.
  2. Tell me how the IRS attempt to weed out unqualified preparers has worked so far?? Fraudulent returns are at an all time high? Taxing the honest preparers is counterproductive, and only a money grab.
  3. I attended Chicago Forums and heard nothing of the sort. Just paint me skeptical!!
  4. Not necessarily. Most will, for a small monthly fee, keep your e-mail address active till you make the transition. If you are considering changing, do the transition first. I also have my own domain name and personal e-mail server that I use. If I change domain hosts, my e-mail stays the same. No one should have only one e-mail provider for this very reason. [email protected] I have up to 25 different e-mails I can setup and use.
  5. 1-800-638-8291 ATX customer service.
  6. Your internet provider established an e-mail address when your internet was installed. It will be [email protected], or [email protected]. You do not have to log onto a website to access you e-mail, and the e-mail servers are the same servers that provide your internet. gmail, Hotmail, aol, yahoo, live and all the others, have their own servers and you must access them from the internet. Those are the ones the hackers go for first.
  7. As long as the new laptop has WIN7, extra ram and processor are not the key to making ATX work faster. Don't buy into the hype the company (ATX) is putting out about "minimum requirements." If and until they make the program 64bit, extra processor speed, more ram and more storage space will NOT improve performance. I have proved this at the firm in a hands on test. If you give in to the hype, and buy a laptop with WIN8.X, you just add additional chances for issues. This I have also proven at the firm. You do not need to spend more than $600 to get a laptop that will handle ATX with ease. If you are interested in a company that will sell you a new laptop with WIN7, message me. I have given this advice many times and it seems that almost no one listens. However, I have made my experiences known. ATX problems with speed and durability are NOT hardware related, PERIOD.
  8. This is exactly why I do not use web based e-mail PERIOD.
  9. What is the origin of his information? Sounds like someone wanting to appear like he knows more than he truly does.
  10. And left wing politics are less controversial? Should be ...are not in play...
  11. When answering the questions for anyone NOT receiving insurance from one of the marketplaces, There is no process for documentation of the answers. The IRS has stated that it will not investigate, match or otherwise look at the answers to that question. The only people on the hook are those that receive a 1099-A from their marketplace obtained insurance plan. My process is going to be to ask the client yes or no, record their answer and move forward. I will not discuss any other facets of their insurance situation. Only those who have insurance from the marketplace need provide more than a yes or no.
  12. Exactly the reasons that funding has been cut. Until voting Americans wake up and put honorable people in our government, the status quo will reign.
  13. Huge amounts of apathy permeate the IRS on every level.
  14. The only tool Congress has to reign in the corruption in the IRS is to withdraw funding. The leadership is NOT held to any standard. Unfortunately, in order to attempt to stem the tide of corruption by the leadership, the other departments suffer. Until this method of running the IRS is changed, the IRS will be a toothless tiger in so many ways. Only able to pick the low hanging easy fruit to deal with, and provide almost NO service to the taxpayers of this country.
  15. Are these not one in the same? If not, explain why?
  16. I was simply pointing out that your information, as posted, was desperately wrong.
  17. of 1% or less of items challenged by the irs, driving expenses are not very high on the list. perhaps your mother should have told you "if you can't say anything that is correct, then don't say anything at all." Please cite the source of the information you are using to say>>> "...you are desperately wrong..."<<< Your information lacks far more credibility.
  18. Last year, the IRS audited less than 1 percent of all returns from individuals, the lowest rate since 2005. This year, Koskinen said, "The numbers will go down." Koskinen was confirmed as IRS commissioner in December. He took over an agency under siege on several fronts. Last year, the IRS acknowledged agents improperly singled out conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status from 2010 to 2012. The revelation has led to five ongoing investigations, including three by congressional committees, and outraged lawmakers who control the agency's budget
  19. Your numbers are outdated and simply inaccurate.
  20. I have 15 clients that PREFER to pay $20 additional just so they don't have to write me a check. My fees are subtracted from the refund, and the rest is Direct Deposited into their account. I am considering raising it to $30 this year to try and wean out of doing them.
  21. I am ready for this! I have become completely informed about what, when, where and how the ACA must be handled for 2014. I have dozens of training and seminar hours as well as many multiple hours doing my own research. Bring it on!!! Money Maker situation for me!!
  22. White Lie Cake You are going to love this - especially all of the ladies who bake for church events. Alice Grayson was to bake a cake for the Baptist Church ladies group bake sale in town, but she forgot to do it until the last minute. ... She remembered it the morning of the bake sale and after rummaging through cabinets she found an angel food cake mix and quickly made it while drying her hair and dressing and helping her son Bryan pack up for Scout camp. But when Alice took the cake from the oven, the center had dropped flat and the cake was horribly disfigured. She said, Oh dear, there’s no time to bake another cake. This cake was so important to Alice because she did so want to fit in at her new church and in her new community of new friends. So, being inventive, she looked around the house for something to build up the center of the cake. Alice found it in the bathroom, a roll of toilet paper. She plunked it in and then covered it with icing. Not only did the finished product look beautiful, it looked perfect! Before she left the house to drop the cake by the church and head for work, Alice woke her daughter Amanda and gave her some money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the minute it opened at 9:30, and to buy that cake and bring it home. When the daughter arrived at the sale, she found that the attractive, perfect cake had already been sold. Amanda grabbed her cell phone and called her Mom. Alice was horrified she was beside herself. Everyone would know, what would they think? Oh, my, she wailed! She would be ostracized, talked about, ridiculed. All night Alice lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing their fingers at her and talking about her behind her back. The next day, Alice promised herself that she would try not to think about the cake and she would attend the fancy luncheon/bridal shower at the home of a friend of a friend and try to have a good time. Alice did not really want to attend because the hostess was a snob who more than once had looked down her nose at the fact that Alice was a single parent and not from the founding families of town, but having already R.S.V.P. she could not think of a believable excuse to stay home. The meal was elegant, the company was definitely, Upper Crust Old South and to Alice’s horror, the CAKE in question was presented for dessert. Alice felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake, she started, out of her chair to rush to tell her hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet, the Mayors wife said, What a beautiful cake! Alice, who was still stunned, sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess who was a prominent church member say, "Thank you, I baked it myself." Alice smiled and thought to herself, GOD is good.
  23. I don't care to take the time to change it. Paranoia seems to be running here in this area.
