    green car

Client was told by car sales person that the car they brought a green car got $1500 credit on their income tax. It is part of Obama's program. The car is a VW Jetta diesel purchased in May of 2009. If this is so where on the return do I put it? Am I missing something or is this another barber, gas station, or whoever doing taxes. I took the sales tax. Just love this on 4/12.

  3. I jumped the gun and put my wishes on KC birthday. Happy Birthday to all. I remember how happy I was when this board started, it is my lifeline to taxes and many friends. Thanks Eric for all your work. I don't have paypal but the check will be in the mail. Thanks again to all.
  4. Happy Birthday and many more. Thanks for all your help and contributions to this board. I have learned a great deal. Also Happy Birthday to the Board.
  5. For income tax filing there would be no additional forms. If they are a business in NJ, then there are annual fees for the LLC. NJ usually notifies the business every 2 years.
  6. Like your thought TaxmannEA. What ever is on those 1099's are your expenses but the IRS gets to look at it by company or individual. BIG BROTHER is watching.
  7. Happy Birthday and many more.
  8. Thanks gailtaxed, I really needed that laugh. Maybe it will help all with allergies and we wont need any meds. So sorry med manufacturers.

    1041 ERROR

Just received this e-mail from ATX. Guess if your NJ your okay. Dear Barbara, My name is Debbie and I am contacting you today in regards to incident number 6798700. You were speaking with Jody from technical support in reference to efiling a NJ 1041 extension. Jody tried to call this morning but was unable to reach you. The defect he submitted to development has gotten a response from our QA team. The NJ 1041 extension can not be efiled and has to be paper filed. What you can do is print out the forms and mail them into the state of NJ. If you need instructions on how to do this you can either call customer support or push F1 while on that form. I apologize for the misunderstanding and hope you have a good day. If you need further assistance, please contact Customer Service at 800-638-8291. This e-mail has been recorded under Incident #6798700 Sincerely, Deborah Forcier Technical Support Representative, CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business 6 Mathis Drive Rome, GA 30165 P. 800.638.8291 F. 888.815.7587 Register today for a training opportunity at https://events.atxinc.com/ The information contained in this electronic message from CCH Small Firm Services, and any attachments, contains information that may be confidential and/or privileged. 10. I was thinking last night (that can be dangerous) of the trees that are starting to bloom. In a few years these trees will probably be W9's and 1099's. That would be horrible. Global warming, more floods, less oxygen.... what are our elected officals thinking????? How about saving the trees and be environmentally friendly. Needed that rant.
  11. MM I am glad everything went okay for you and you are cancer free. I am sorry for the loss of your husband.
  12. I have being seeing doctors since before Christmas. I have had CT scan, biopies, and 6 doctors later, it is determined that I have an enlarge thyroid, small cell cancer on my lungs, and a tumor on the kidney. I will be having surgery to remove the thyroid on April 21. The doctors may have to open the breastbone (like open heart surgery) because the mass is very large and pressing on my windpipe. At least it is after tax season. My mind has not always been on taxes this year and I may have asked odd questions or given odd answers. I am sorry. Will post after the surgery hopefully with good news.
  13. Would that also include electric company, water company, heating oil, how about the real estate taxes or rental fee? Or perhaps gas for the company car? Boy this seems to be getting out of hand. Every check you write you will need info for 1099. Who has the time for this nonsense?

    1041 ERROR

Just spend over 2 hours on the phone with ATX support. There is an error on filing the extension. "Error: An internal error occured. Download the lastest program and forms updates. If this problem persists, call Customer Service in order to securely send them an export of this return and the !Tax2009-Errors.log file." I turned control of my computer over to them. They tried updating, deleting, updating..... they really tried. It appears as if there is a problem in the software. They said they would get back to me with an answer. I will post when I get an answer.
  17. Agree with Clay, only file 3 MA returns. That's the only way I know how to count the pages. I wonder if that number has to be right. What if you put 5 pages and there is only 3 or maybe 6 pages?
  18. Commission that's different. I agree with bcolleen.
  19. I was taught I=PRT I=interest, P=principal, R=rate, T=time. 10% per month or per year? If it per year then the time has to be adjusted. If it is per month I would look for a different loan.
  20. Client lived in NJ and moved to PA made all contributions to IRA as NJ resident. The research I have done states IRA after 59 1/2 are non taxable in PA (not in NJ). It is not an employee retirement. It is a commerical plan. So it is not taxable, am I reading that right. Maybe I will move to PA and retire.
  21. Same here, no e-mail for ATX but e-mail from TRX on extensions. Lots of snail mail from TRX.
  22. Client brought me his stuff and in it I found a 1099R for 2010. It is for a court case ABC v XYZ. He said he did not get the money until 2010. Do I use it for 2010 or 2009 assuming the date is wrong, although it is a preprinted 1099R? I would go with 2010 but would like other opinions. Thanks.
  23. How did you answer who lives in your house on April 1, 2010, today is March 28? They want to know info for 4/1 my crystal ball is broke and I can't determine the future. They will have to wait until after 4/1 for me to answer the questions. I may take in a homeless person, may have a baby, may leave the country, who knows. To me if it is sent in early it is not the truth. Isn't a crime to not tell the truth to the government, even though they do it to us? Oh well thanks for letting me vent. I did call the census phone and told them the same thing. The person who answered the phone said it did not make a difference if you answered early.
  24. I've had a couple returns this year. One spouse W-2 other S/E with a loss. Filed return with EIC. TP's were very happy with extra money to help pay some of their debts and I looked good also.
  25. I create e-file, print, close. It is rejected, so I just create again. Pain but I am getting used to it.
