  1. Just wondering. I received a call on my answering machine from ATX, The message was hard to understand and garbled. What I got from it was ATX, renew, extension 1212. It seems that this extention belongs to Silvia from previous replies on this board. Is she hard to understand or is it my maachine? I want someone I can discuss questions with when they come up.

    NATP

I was a member. I used it to get a lower price on classes. Did not use their products or folders. I found it a waste of money. My clients don't care what initials I put after my name or what organizations I belong to, they only care that I do their return correctly for a fair price.
  3. Terry, Rehab may hurt like h@!!, but push through it. It will help in the long run. Had both knees done 2 different years and then had to have one done again due to cancer. You will find a light at the end of the tunnel. Recovery took me 3 months to get up and about, and a total of 6 months to get back to 95% use of the knees.
  4. Happy Easter and Passover to all. Thanks for all of your help, suggestions, ideas and prayers. Enjoy the summer and see you in the late fall. I will check in just to keep my mind from rusting as I do the extensions. Again this has been an interesting season, but then every season is interesting.
  5. I would file zeros. Especially if they received a 1099 for the sales of the house. The IRS will be looking for that form and info. I have in the past filed zeros on 1041 with no problem.
  6. I had it where I put the info in the asset manager and then on check return it wants it on the vehicle info. This doubles it up. I have just overrided the auto. I don't know why but strange things do happen.
  7. Gee I feel left out. I didn't get an e-mail for renewal. I guess I just bargained too hard last year for a good price.
  8. I must be an antique. My mouse has a ball and a wire, my keyboard has a wire, my printer has a wire. I sure am wired all over. I do have a wireless internet for all the other computers in my house, but mine is wired. Boy am I behind the times, but I am very happy.
  9. My prayers go with you, NECPA and your husband. When doors close other ones open for something much better.
  10. I would deduct it as a condition of employment. I have a client who purchased jeans and shirts from a uniform company, who also does the laundring of the uniforms, with the company name on the shirt. Nothing on the jeans and yes I deduct this. The business is repairs of small engines and the uniforms do get greasy. I guess the jeans should have in big letters the company name across the backside of the pants, but the company name is just too darn long to fit on any ones back side.
  11. To the diner for soup, chef salad (have a craving for it) and ice tea. Need to get a way from taxes for a while.
  12. Jainen hope you feel better. This year I set the date of Mar 20 after that it is extensions for $25. So far most of the usual clients have their stuff to me and I can work on it. I have 4 more days and the phone is not ringing which is good. When I do extensions I look at the income only and that is what they pay on. The deductions make them have a small refund when it is filed. I am not going crazy because they can't get their act together.
  13. Click tab "support" then "about".
  14. My prayers to those in Japan, Hawaii (Mel hope you are on high ground) and the California coast. Mother Nature sure can get very mad.

    1099-Q

Thanks for the help but don't I have to show it on the return?
  16. I work great under clutter. If I clean I can't find it (whereever I hid it). Clutter makes great walls and keeps the client at bay.

    1099-Q

Client brings in 1099-Q with box 1 (gross distribution) 6000, box 2 (earnings) -4000, box 3 (basis) 10000. He has 5 of these. I need some help. I never saw this form before and am not sure what to do with it. ATX does not have this form either. Did some research but came up empty handed. How do I handle it? It was not used for education, he took the money to pay last years taxes. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  18. On the drop down for country use "unknown" works for me.
  19. I also hold and wait for the fed to be accepted. No suprises then.
  20. It's not hours worked. It is a few bucks to take the office. They use it to put gas in their vehicles.
  21. The members volunteer their time for this org. 2 members get a small so called salary. Some members get a check for convention. Problem neither of the numbers are more than $600 for a 1099, but the so called salary and convention money does total more than $600. It is called salary for the state reports which must be filled every year. Now would you give them a 1099? I am thinking the convention money would be reimbursement for money spent and no 1099. The salary is just a small amount of money for the 2 officers to do extra work and attend meetings. I am also thinking no 1099. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am sorry to ask a question I should know the answer to but the side effects of the cancer meds are really playing havoc with my brain.
  22. Must be a problem with ATX. Tried to send 1099's this morning, system hung on trying to connect. I will try later today or tomorrow.
  23. Congratulations to both of you. Those extra credit each semester are tough. I was on tri-semester and took 15-17 credit each time. The college only wanted you to take 10-12 at the most. It was tough but well worth it. Again JB the best. She seems determined to do her best.

I think it is just a 1040A. You can't e-file some forms til mid Feb, so how are you going to get a RAL and you BIG FAT check. Let's get the folks in the door then we can fleece them. If you succeed in getting a return done for $38 let us know because I will take my return to them. For $38 how can I go wrong?????
