  1. I also only update the forms I need for the clients I have. If a client needs a new state or has a new fed like a corp then I add these to the update. Why update and store what you don't need?
  2. I like the one forum as long as everybody labels "birthdays" and "nt". It is easier to look in one place and skip what you don't want. If the majority wants 2 forums then that's what it will be.
  3. Merry Christmas to all. This is a good Christmas for me, I just found out the cancer tumor have reduced 50% with the drugs I am taking.
  4. As a 1 gal shop, I appreciate the water cooler break as well as the tax info. It is nice to share both happiness and sadness of fellow tax preparers. I am greatful for all the tax advice and the ability to increase my tax knowledge learning from other members of this board. Thank you all and Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.
  5. I advise my clients not to pay by credit card because the cc company adds a fee and so does the IRS. Why pay more than you have to.
  6. I only do a few 1099's, so I process them separately. There are members on this board who probably process a lot more than I do, who could answer your question.
  7. I was reading rfassett's letter and he is having the client send in the 1099's and the 1096. Can't we efile these? I have efiled 1099's in the past or does the IRS only want paper copies so the post office makes money? The post office will make money on the individual 1099's being mailed. What a rip off from our government.
  8. Thanks for helping me get these dates straight and I like your letter.
  9. Is this right? 1099 rental info Jan 2012 get w-9's in 2011 1099 for vendors Jan 2013 get w-9's in 2012 or get w-9's for everybody in 2012 and 1099 to all in Jan 2012 I have read all the info I can find and the wording is driving me nuts. Isn't there a simple version of this. Oh I forgot it is the IRS, what's wrong with me? Thanks for the help. My focus has been on my medical problems and not 100% on the IRS.
  10. I'm with you. Fingerprints can be a pain. I had them for teaching and each time you change districts you need another set of fingerprints. I submitted mine for my EFIN. I think they just want more money.
  11. Yes, I did. got MAX for around $700 I think. It's been a while since I looked at the bill.I had to bargain for it.
  12. Happy Birthday and many many more.
  13. Depending on how many pages, sometimes it is 3 fold and a # 10 envelope, sometimes it is 2 fold and booklet envelope. I never send it in a 9x12 envelope. When they request info back, the request is usually folded, they get it back folded. To fold or not to fold, I am not doing their work. They get it in the enveope that is big enough for the return.
  14. Congratulations. I am not much of a football fan, but I am happy when a child succeeds. Be proud of him.
  15. Thanks. It's from the top. I really enjoyed the military salute. Thanks for being silly with me.
  16. Family disagreement. Should the paper towel or toilet paper unroll from the front or the back. I think it is a gender thing, the guys say one way and the the girls the other way. Which way do you unroll your paper? Thanks for your opinion.
  17. Congrats to you and your family and best wishes to the newly married couple. May life be good to you and your family.

    e-filing

I have been e-filing for awhile and I thought I had to push the button to send the return. After reading a comment on first time efiling, it seems that a data entry clerk can send the efile. I believe the person who wrote that. I can remember, I think (old age you know), in a course I took long time ago someone else saying that their clerk pushed the button after they had the check and the 8879. Could someone please reconfirm this so I can have some free time to do returns this season. Thanks.
  19. Lindsay Lohan stories sell papers and news articles. It money, money the american way. I agree there is too much said on the rich and famous and not enough of the people in the trenches. Last night I heard that a football player was drunk and texting when he hit someone. The team supposedly has a team car if you need a ride home. Now does he play this weekend or not. My opinion he would not play this weekend or any weekend for me he would be fired. This makes news and great role models but the military doesn't. Thanks for letting me vent also.
  20. Happy Birthday and many more.

  23. Great news 20/20 vision and everything is okay.
  24. I am here. The family increased by 2 (granddaughters), I am still dealing with doctors and cancer, but I feel great and trying to keep up with the new clients that need just a little help (little is not the word) more like lots of help plus getting the extensions done. Is there an official word on tax preparers fees and registration? I have a PTIN for 10 years do I need to re-register? Just have not had the time to keep up with all of this.
