  2. Found all of that but still don't know if the annuity starting is day of purchase or day you start collecting. Can't find a anything that defines start date. Thanks KC for the reference.

    SS

SS benefits are taxable if the income is high. If no income then no taxable SS. Has nothing to do with age, unless the tp wants to work and may have to pay back (I think) $1 for every $2 earned. Its been a while since I looked that up. Hopeful someone on the board knows the number.
  4. TP retire from post office. TP says the pension is not taxable to the first couple of years. In researching, I found 'start date of annuity' talking about 1980's and other past dates. Is the start date of the annuity the day it was purchased or the day the tp starts the pension?? Confused because the pub keeps referencing prior dates. I understand the computation but not what date to use. Recently have had my mind somewhere else. Thanks

  7. This is the first time in 10 years that I have had to contact ATX for a problem. I sent the return to them. How long do I need to wait for an answer and do they e-mail or phone the answer? I can fix the return by deleting the numbers but they shouldn't be there at all. Problem real estate tax flowing to NJ as Health enterprize deduction and to real estate. We discussed this problem on this board before. How does ATX contact me?

  10. Client purchased solar panels last year and received a 1099 for the income from the panels. This year client did not receive a 1099 and called company. Company said they don't have to send 1099's because it is a retrun on investment and it is "green" energy. This is great but client did not get 1099, client wants to claim the money if it is taxable or not claim it if is it non-taxable. Can't find a black and white answer. Client and I would like something in print to be able to hold in case of any questions. Anybody come across this and what did you do? Thanks
  11. I just love it when the client hands me the papers 1 by 1, after they ask me if I have a letter opener. They don't even open the letter I send them with their organizer. Why do I waste my time, postage, paper and ink to help them? Just give me the papers and sit there and reads the newspaper with a cup of coffee. They provide their own newspaper. One client bring everything unopened, opens the envelopes doesn't look at the contents then hands me all the papers as a stack. That's a little better, but why can't they open their mail at their home?

  15. Thanks Taxbilly. I was confused too. Company paper work states sale but no 1099B. I will contact client to see if it was a sale.
  16. It is a sale. I have a 'confirmation of exercise' from the company stating same-day sale for the value of box 12, also have 'statement of taxable income' for the same value labeled total w-2 income. That value is included in box 1,3,5 on his w-2 as per the v code. What I don't have is a 1099B or anything that would be sent to the irs as a sale. If the value is already included in the wages then it not reported any where, or should it be reported on sch d cost=selling price with no loss or gain.
  17. Hoping for verification. W-2 has box 12 with an amount and code V. It is included in the wages therefore it does not have to show on a sch d or any other place on the return. Boy do I feel brain dead.

Hope you are safe. Please let us know.
  19. Does the brother co-own the house? I would go with the ssn that appears on the paper work. If you don't own it how can you sell it? I have a client that splits the interest and mortgage, but both names are on the deed.
  20. Amazing the things one learns on this board. It's better that high school.
  21. Love it. I am a mother-in-law and sure hope I not a woman hilter.
  22. If they keep out sourcing soon it will be out sourced back to the USA for a complete circle. In the mean time I am going to relax and wait for my out source people to get back to me.
  23. The same my acks just came in. 1099's always seem to take a lot longer to get acks.
  24. Sorry about ant(slip of the fingers) but RitaB you made me smile. Jainen, the husband told me the money went to the deceased mother who was the beneficary of the IRA. Sad case, marriage only lasted 4 months. I believe the IRA was set up a couple of years ago while the wife was single and living at home. Thanks you verifying my thoughts and putting it on the TP return.
