  1. This will be the case no matter what you try. It baffles me how people can't create a password for a new account, and download a file. How do you live in the internet age without those skills?!
  2. Yes, I opened a case, plus I chatted with support and they opened another case.
  3. Line 3 of the worksheet is missing 1040 line 6 capital gains. I checked the 1040 instructions and the description for line 3 of this worksheet reads: Combine the amounts from Form 1040 or 1040-SR, lines 1, 2b, 3b, 4b, 4d, 6, and Schedule 1, line 9 ATX's description omits line 6.
  4. Just wait until they use the 2020 W4.
  5. Most IRS and state forms are fillable these days, and when I encounter one that's not, I run it through the forms feature of my PDF editor and make it fillable.
  6. I just tried the QuickBooks plugin for tax1099.com and worked really well. I had email addresses for all the recipients so I just had the site email the 1099s (SSN was masked). I downloaded the PDF of the recipients copy and I was done. I've resisted this in the past because of the cost, but it saves me labor and buying forms. And if I can email some of them, it saves envelopes, postage and more labor.
  7. Doesn't look like it integrates with QuickBooks. This one does: https://www.tax1099.com/Intuit
  8. We use Foxit for everyday viewing & notating PDFs. We also use Kofax (formerly Nuance) to make PDFs searchable, convert to a fillable form, rearrange, delete, crop pages, add page numbers to ATX organizers, etc.
  9. Did you submit this in the official enhancements forum?
  10. I also use Comodo fee firewall because it blocks certain behaviors and lets me allow or deny that behavior.
  11. Yes you can start and yes the info will flow.
  12. Been using Eset NOD32 AV for over 25 years. Would not use anything else.
  13. The category is determined by the main form in the return. If you add a 1040, it will be under individual.
  14. I view it like this: https://community.atxinc.com/forums/TopicsNotRead.aspx But the main site would just be: https://community.atxinc.com/forums/
  15. I use temporary portals like send.firefox.com and sendinc.com. I tell clients to use these same free services to send me info. Both they and I feel better knowing it's temporary and their sensitive files aren't sitting out there somewhere to be hacked.

  18. I suppose your argument could be that it's a minuscule risk, especially if you've taken other reasonable IT security measures.
  19. Pet peeve of mine: I routinely see people get these messages and never check the 'don't show me this again' type dialog box, or the remember me box on websites.

  22. I had an old XP program I needed, so I installed VMWare virtual machine on my and installed XP so I could run it. It worked pretty well, but I did have problems printing occasionally. Had to netshare lpt1 or something like that. I saved the commands in a batch file.
  23. Probably not, but read this: https://www.komando.com/tech-tips/dont-sell-your-printer-before-doing-this-1-critical-step/331796/
  24. Your server is not on the internet, it's on one of your computers. Also, I HIGHLY recommend that you uncheck 'update forms' and 'update programs' at startup. Nothing good can come from having those checked.
