  1. I jumped at that offer, and guess what....I paid and subscribed on April 9. I checked 2 or 3 times to make sure I was going to get the ATX software...OH, YES, DEFINITELY! This past Monday, 7 months later I called and guess what...they couldn't find my order, but they would give me my money back. They had to go through the people who paid with Paypal to find it. So ANYBODY who used Paypal, call and make sure you will be getting ATX software. I could get Taxwise, but, I do not want to work with a conversion with only 6 weeks left in the year. So, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. AnnieR
  2. Thanks for the info. I got the same thing but was really leery about going to the site, so now I delete. AnnieR
  3. About 3 weeks ago, on a Thursday morning, I woke up with an ache in my upper chest and back, and it hurt to take a deep breath. Being the good "little" wife that I am I went about my normal Thursday chores, laundry, changing beds, folding & hanging clean clothes, etc. About 3 pm, I went to the garage where my husband was doing woodworking, finally explained what was happening...like I could hardly breathe...Me...do you think I ought to call the dr?...Him...get your a.. in the house and do it...nurse at dr's office...do you want me to call an ambulance or can Jim take you to the hospital? Needless to say, in about 15 min. I was in the er, diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, pulse rate at approximately 184. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days, and actually didn't go back to a regular heartbeat for about 2 weeks. The danger of AFib is stroke, not actual heart attack, so now I'm on digoxin and coumadin. According to the literature I was given, about 9% of people above 60 have AFib, my husband has had it for years and knows exactly when he has an episode. Me...nada. Of course, women have different symptoms, I never thought that it hurting to breathe was anything but a pulled muscle, plus women have a denial system second to none. The reason I am posting this, is "LADIES, DON'T IGNORE ANY STRANGE SYMPTOMS YOU MAY HAVE. IT'S NOT WORTH IT" AnnieR
  4. and may you have a very happy day and all the days to come AnnieR
  5. Thank you so much AnnieR
  6. The Ohio Department of Taxation has issued information release IT 2009-01 that provides guidance to tax preparers on the required use of electronic filing for tax preparers. Paid tax preparers who filed more than 75 tax returns in either the 2008 or 2009 calendar years must, beginning on Jan. 1, 2010, use electronic filing technology to file state income tax returns. The release provides additional details on the requrement, including which tax preparers must file electronically file, acceptable electronic filing methods and the consequences for not doing so. IT 2009-01 has been published on the department's Web site, tax.ohio.gov, and is available at the link below: http://tax.ohio.gov/divisions/communicatio.../IT_2009_01.stm
  7. The fender isn't even crumbled and no, I did not have to sign a medical release. Gee, I missed that part! Annie
  8. On May 5, my husband was driving our (technically my) car when another driver ran a red light (made a right turn on red, but did not yield right of way) and hit the passenger side front wheel of our car. We found out how much it was going to cost us to fix the car..a '92 Buick Park Ave., excellent condition with 102,000 miles...$750.00. Adjuster came out, looked the car over and left. I got a call from the insurance co. (AIG-21st Century), he told me that the adjuster had judged the car to be in exceptional condition, low mileage, etc, and they were totalling it for $2225. I explained that all we wanted/needed was $750 for repairs plus a rental, that offer was turned down and told if we wanted any settlement we had to agree to total the car and accept the $2225. So, in order to get the settlement, I had to get a salvage title. The car is now being fixed, and we will have to get it inspected and make sure the parts we paid for were used and a new title issued. It cost AIG a rental car for 2 weeks, plus 2 towing bills, plus $2225, AND if we buy a NEW car, they'll pay the sales tax on it. Is this the bailout at work???? AnnieR
  9. See, JB, there is a reward for living in OH. The company I retired from allowed us to continue our health insurance until I was 65 with no premium. It was a real blessing. Now it is a "new" company, new rules.
  10. Mine gets his regular check on the 3rd of the month and received his additional $250 on Wed. Mine is directlly deposited on the 2nd Wed. of the month...no $250 yet, just checked. AnnieR
  11. My client already told the agent he had included his tips for the other months, I can't imagine they are very big, he just adds it into his income for sch C, but he just forgot for Dec. I am planning to do an amended, the client called for me to do that and told me what they told him to do. Right away I knew it was wrong---duh---why would he file a 4137 with a Sch C? and put it on line 7 as wages? Pardon me, but client is not knowledgeable enough to know taxing procedure. And they told HIM to do it, not his preparer. He may not be terribly smart, but he has all of his mileage down to the last .10 of a mile, everything is accounted for and yes, he does want to do the right thing. AnnieR
  12. Here's another one...client called this morning, he had contacted the IRS about making payments of his amount due...he's a newpaper delivery person (vehicle delivery), receives SS plus $5000 of SE, he owes $373, doesn't have the money to pay right now. The agent he talked to asked him if he had reported all the tips he received, guy tells him no, he didn't report the $350 he received in Dec. (He's honest, if nothing else). The agent told him to amend his return, report the $350 on F 4137, put it on Line 7 of the return as wages and refigure his tax. HE'S SELF EMPLOYED!!!! Any ideas on how to handle this??? This is so stupid! AnnieR
  13. I get taxtalk by e-mail and the last postings I received were from 05/02, yesterday. Of course, they might be upset now! AnnieR
  14. I didn't get one either, just an e-mail "receipt" that I had joined TRX, and the ATX product I had "subscribed" to and my fee was deducted from the checking acct that I used to subscribe. If I NEED acknowledge that to ATX, please let me know, but, I am not under any type of contract with ATX that I must buy the product directly from them. When I first started using electronic products, I purchased ATX from Nelco, not from ATX itself. AnnieR

    TRX Called Me

Some of you have mentioned that you would stay with ATX at the $699 price because of the Express Answers book and other things excluded. I checked in the NATP Tax Store for the 2008 tax season and Quickfinder was $40 for members, $50, non-members, Express Answers, $45 and $57, Tax Book Fast Answers, $41 and $51 and Tax Book Deluxe $65 and $81. For me, paying $299 plus the cost of the book of my choice, is a lot better deal. After I add in the cost of my e-filing, approximately $500, $299 with free e-file sure looks good. AnnieR
  16. Client brought over a CP12 today with a change in her refund. She had wages plus SE income, HOH, 2 qualifying children. There was a change in the amount of EIC on the notice, $555 less in refund. This is my fault, I never thought about it, but the software correctly (on the EIC worksheet) calculated the EIC, BUT, the amt brought forward to L64a was the amt from Part 1 Line 2 of worksheet A instead of Part 3 Line 6. Luckily the change by the IRS was made before the direct deposit. If nobody else has had this happen, I'm going to really get paranoid! AnnieR
  17. I e-filed about half an hr ago, they show as transmitted, but when ACKS were starting, the warning came up. AnnieR
  18. Thanks, that was my thought, just wanted someone else to verify it. AnnieR
  19. Just struggled through a return with 1099B that has 90 withdrawals from 5 mutual funds. There is no taxable income...$3026 in DIV, -$3000 in losses with a -$5000 carryover. Client should file to cover any questions and to have a record of the carryover? Brain dead after this. Interesting thing is, she had the same situation last year...unfortunately she didn't leave the receipt from HRB in the folder she gave me. Would have been enlightening to see it. AnnieR
  20. Happy birthday KC and thank you for all the help you have given all of us. You are certainly a blessing to this board. AnnieR
  21. Thanks for all the answers. In this case, t/p had until April 15 to take her 2008 RMD. It was her first year for a distribution so there was a little confusion!! AnnieR
  22. Client withdrew required RMD for 2008 on April 4. 2009, with withholding. Do I report this on her 2008 return or 2009? TYIA AnnieR
  23. I am doing a 2007 amended Federal return which was filed with Kansas City. Client has since moved to New Mexico. Do I file the return with KC, since that's where the original was filed or send it to Fresno? Sometimes I like to make things difficult for myself AnnieR
  24. This year the delivery people around here got monthly re-imbursements for mileage, the one that's my client got $625 a month. It wasn't included on his 1099, so be sure to ask. AnnieR
