  1. I've been trying to get on the ATX community website for two days, but it says that it is down for maintenance. I was just checking after seeing the messages that they left on the TRX community below.
  2. I'm not one of the nine, because I am still on the fence. I am definitely leaning toward ATX. I am still angry about them pulling that community away during tax season, but I still think that the product is good. I have never had any problems with customer service and when I have needed them, they have gone beyond what I need. I have some other reasons for not switching, but I'm not going to have myself get flamed for putting them here.
  3. I would really like to save $900, but I have a lot of reservations. I know that they are checking on whether the research materials will be offered in print and online forms. I like to have my books in paper form. I can take them or grab them off of the shelf immediately. Too many times, I've tried to get in to Kleinrock and they have been having a problem on the website. I really worry, too that this will make CCH, just give up on ATX and I love the software. Bonnie
  4. Did she have any passive income? Was the K-1 entered in her 1040 as passive and/or rental actively participating? The program won't catch it if the K1 isn't entered with all of the necessary information. The IRS auditor may be correct, because if your joint AGI is over 150,000, passive losses will be disallowed. See Form 8582 and instructions.
  5. Thanks, I think that I will give them a call. Bonnie
  6. I'm sure that I will stay with ATX. My quote from ATX for TTO is $1,624.50. I'm assuming that package is not what TRX is offering. I've been very happy with ATX and when I've needed support, I've been very happy. I remember years ago when Thomas Shaw spent four hours with me helping me reinstall Windows and ATX. I've never forgotten that. I know that things changed when CCH bought them, but unfortunately, that's the way of the world. I don't like a lot of things that they have done, but their software is a very good fit for my one person practice. Bonnie
  7. Thanks, Catherine. I didn't know that, either. It's such a pain to look at all these reviews. Bonnie
  8. Thanks, KC. That includes the programs, so I am trying to figure out how much of it is data. Maybe there is no easy way and I'll just have to go through all of the folders and add them up.
  9. I know that this is a stupid question, but how do I find out how many GB of data are on my computer to backup? I am looking in to online backup and I need to know how to find this to compare prices. I probably back up too much on my external hard drive. Thanks! Bonnie
  10. I am not lonely! I'm ecstatic not to have someone in my office constantly or the phone ringing off the hook. I had to talk to an elderly client this morning twice already to make it about the 30th phone call from her since Jan. 1. I have months of work left to do, but I can't face it today. After 30 years, I am wondering if I can actually keep doing this. I have never been so stressed or depressed during tax season. It was even worse than two years ago when my husband was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and my mom had lung cancer during tax season. I had so many nightmare returns, an audit that cost me 30 hours (because the client didn't organize their information for me like I asked), and the clients were really difficult this year. I have some that are failing mentally and it took me many more hours just to deal with them. I really feel bad for them, because I love most of my clients, but it was just an added burden and I can't clone myself. Everybody said to hire help, but it's not that easy. I'd have to take out a loan for another computer, more office space and the ability to pay wages. Then I'd have to raise prices. I did fire a couple of clients, but I know that I need to thin them out some more. Oh well, enough whining. I need to hit the stores and help the economy.
  11. I filed my personal return early, because it's easy. My corporation in on extension, but the financials are done. I figure I'll get to it in July.
  12. I just rebooted my whole computer and it made a world of difference in program speed. Bonnie
  13. Margaret, I figure as long as I'm not that snippy to my clients and vent here and to my family, I've done a good job. My dad's wife had the gall to ask me when her worthless daughter's FREE tax return would be done and was offended when I said that my paying clients came first. I love my dad so I didn't scream at her. Bonnie
  14. How about the phrase that I most want to use? Kiss my #@# and take it to Block. I am very sick of people.
  15. I hope everybody has a happy holiday and I can't wait until Thursday. I'm actually going to take two days off instead of one. Then it's back to payroll taxes, property taxes and extensions. Thanks for all of the help. Bonnie
  16. Thanks! That's what I was going to try, because I've got to overnight this to the client. Bonnie
  17. I am supposed to attach copies of my client's two charitable gift annuities to their 1040. Does this mean that I can't use the 8453 with their stock tranactions and have to mail the return? I am going to scream if I have to spend the time to enter all of these transactions when I have so much left to do on other returns. Thanks! Bonnie
  18. I figured it out. You have to use 10/1 not 10/01. Maybe they are getting transferred here. A lot of compaies are laying off, though. We do have a lower unemployment rate than a lot of states so far. I have had a lot of clients move out of state, because of the high taxes, especially in Omaha.
  19. I'll try taking out the december date. Thanks!
  20. WA doesn't have a state income tax, so there won't be another state on the W2. Bonnie
  21. You are going to need a form 6781. If I remember right, you should be able to figure it out be following the instructions. I do one once a year and pretty much have to read them every year, because I forget. IF you need more help, post later or E-mail me and I'll try to help you. Bonnie
  22. I am trying to E-file a part year NE resident, but I am obviously too stupid to enter a date. I have entered the residency dates as 10/01 12/31, 1001 2131 and 10/01/08 12/31/08 and I keep getting an error message that says to enter the residency dates in m/d format. What am I doing wrong? I feel like an idiot, but yes I am tired. I hope someone else has figured this out. Thanks! Bonnie
  23. I've had a lot pass away within the year. One ot the worst things for me is so many of my clients are failing mentally and it is presenting huge challenges and a lot of extra time and work on my part. I can see that I am really going to have to take a look at my workload next year and try to not take on additional clients so that I don't collapse myself. This has been my worst tax year ever (for a lot of different reasons) and it has become very difficult for me to even want to do this anymore. I just hope that I will feel differently after April 15. Bonnie
