  1. Just picked up papers this morning from some clients (older couple with mobility problems; I don't usually go _to_ clients). The clip all their like-kind documents together. Very convenient for me and quick and easy to leaf through to look for likely missing items before I leave them. I have the _nicest_ clients -- these folks usually have fresh-made cookies for me when I drop their completed forms back off later. Catherine
  2. I've got half a leftover roast beef, turkey, bacon, and cheese club sandwich from yesterday that I'm looking forward too. Have to be with an accounting client at 1:30 so that means I _must_ eat lunch at _lunchtime_ today. Catherine
  3. Client was in phase-out area for Roth IRA contribution but had made a full contribution early in 2008. She removed the excess contribution amount to comply with limits before the end of the year. 1099-R came through as code "J"; early Roth withdrawal no known exception. What's the best way to handle this in ATX? The amount is _not_ taxable but is showing up as such. I can think of about three ways to do it but perhaps someone out there knows the "best" way. Thanks. Catherine
  4. I read them hours ago and I'm still chuckling. Catherine
  5. Happy Birthday and hold out for more chocolate? :bday:
  6. I'd consider it part of the overall cost for the windows and roof. Just like shipping and installation of machinery is part of the cost basis of the machine. It's not like you can buy windows and POOF! they magically install themselves. (That might be nice, though, especially if you could then be sure the installation was done properly.) Catherine

  8. But the 8453-F's are still waiting for Friday. As are all my completed trust returns.... Good to hear about the 8606, though. I have three almost-dones with that form. Have partially been waiting FOR the 8606 before I finalize those. Catherine
  9. MORE good news -- the same lady I spoke to called me back with resolution on the final of three issues I brought up -- barely an hour and a half after we talked.
  10. Have no fear, Booger my darling -- the bricks are all buried under a couple of feet of snow, out back. They are safe from me. And I am safe from them. You may still LOVE me with all the adoration in your soul. And thanks for the chuckle. Here's some GOOD news for all regarding support -- I just called ATX and, in less than 12 minutes, I got through the automated "update" ("unable to locate" my e-return), got to a _person_ (the trick is to keep punching in zero's until the auto system gives up on you), and she was able to submit an EFC check-into-this request on one return (11 days and no ack) and "re-hang" (sounds painful) the ack's on two others and I got them on my program! Catherine
  11. These are great, thanks for posting them. I've sent the list to my daughter, who has been very aggravated lately with a series of very lame poems to analyze for her English class. Catherine
  12. Yes, but sometimes I'd rather hit myself in the head with a brick. It will hurt less and be over faster.....
  13. Welcome back, Wayne! Catherine
  14. I've been meaning to inquire, as well. Hope he's doing really well. Catherine
  15. Thank you, KC. And we ALL love you! Catherine
  16. Many Happy Returns! (sorry, couldn't help myself)
  17. Happy Birthday!!
  18. Happy Happy!! Yay!!
  19. If you are signed up to e-file W-2's and check SSN's with Social Security, you can check the validity of the number there. But whether or not you can check beforehand, get a copy of the card, and amend after the return and refund have been processed. Hi up in Exeter; just a bit north of me. Mom of one of my college friends lives in your town. Catherine
  20. You ARE an advanced member! Congratulations.
  21. I had a weird amount on one; $513 and change. AND I had one where the website payment listed was $20 off from the form they got sent (one of the few who brought the bleeping form). I've just been checking the website for every client anyway. And I've got one coming in that got way less on their stimulus payment than the IRS on-line estimator last year indicated; that one is going to need investigation too. Catherine
  22. There was a "poem" (term used advisedly) in MAD Magazine a gazillion years ago about a professor who taught English Lit; in fact, he taught everything "lit". I think I had that professor (years later).
  23. And now my file folder order is delayed, too. Not my day. :(
  24. Because she -doesn't- want to ride her motorsickle? ;)
  25. I've been waiting all weekend for 8453-F to be released today (Friday the ATX website said 2/9 release). I have five trusts all ready and waiting to go, just needed that last e-file form release. This morning it said 2/9. This NOON it said 2/9. But NOW it says 2/13. ARGHHH!!!! GRRRRR!! And phooey, too. Guess it's time to hope that Friday the 13th turns out to be a lucky day for me. Grumble. It's a good thing Booger says he loves me, or I'd be seriously ticked off right about now. Catherine
