That was the law prior to 1999 (Soliman, supreme court 1993). Tax Relief Act of 1997 relaxed Code Sec. 280A(c)(1). :
"For purposes of subparagraph (A) , the term “principal place of business” includes a place of business which is used by the taxpayer for the administrative or management activities of any trade or business of the taxpayer if there is no other fixed location of such trade or business where the taxpayer conducts substantial administrative or management activities of such trade or business."
For some reason I always have a problem remembering all the annual changes. But I never have a problem remembering the ingredients with Avocado when I make Guaca"mole".
Assuming when a property is listed that a real estate agent pulls comparable sales when determining the listing price, then paying closing costs, rather than reducing price helps maintain the real estate values in the area.
Main reason that sellers pay closing costs rather than cutting the price has always seemed to me to be because the real estate agents convince them that it is a good idea. They like it because their commission is calculated on a higher number. Maybe that isn't it, but that was what always struck me.
We went with the Avery Viewables hanging folder labels a while back. Lemme tell you all, this is file cabinet porn. And a thing of beauty.
As for finding ourselves online - yes, I searched for (and found) myself. But the client would have to know my username and the forum keyword from the name. A general search on my name doesn't bring it up. Phew!
I just can't do it. I am a paper and manila folder nerd. There's something comforting to me, knowing I can pull out the file and hold in my hand. With the wine per diem in the other hand.
I just checked and we now spend only 25% of what we did only 4 years ago on office supplies, due to gradually going paperless a little bit more each year.
But I understand the love of gadgets. I need my toys too, but I also love saving $3,000 a year.
Thanks Black Bart. I wrote it after having my wine per diem. Everyone's post made me realize more and more that we need each other and we are all alike. Don't know what I would do without you.
I made this point on a Facebook post last year and you would think I killed a puppy and his unicorn best friend. I compared it to buying homeowners' insurance after your house burns down or asking your neighbors who have paid insurance premiums for 30 years to build you a new house. It seems completely logical to me for people who get more health care to pay more than those who get less. If you get three gallons of milk at the store, you should pay more than someone who gets one gallon of milk. Safety nets yes. Hammocks no.
