  1. I have been on a little adventure, believe it or not. I hadn't been feeling well for a while and one morning I told my husband that I thought I needed help. Well, ER led to 7 days in the hospital (so they tell me). I had viral bronchitis and then developed bacterial pneumonia and had myself a vacation of sorts. If anyone has noticed that I have not been nosing around, that is why, but I am now home and on the way to a full recovery. Turns out that I was sick for a very long time and I guess I knew it but I just thought that was the way life was. Well, let me tell you , I have not breathed so well in years and I am back. This was my first fullish day on the computer and I am pretty tired so will keep you posted. I am so Happy to be back and Life is Wonderful. Love to each and every one of you. I had my doubts there for a while, but I don't do well with meds and they sort of messed me up while they were curing me.

  3. I had pneumonia once in my twenties and it is the sickest I have ever been! My sympathy goes out to you both and I am glad you are on the mend. Don't push too hard and take care of yourselves.

  4. Wow, Marilyn, that is quite a story. I am so glad you got the help and are healthy again. Margaret, the same for your husband as well.

  5. Marilyn, you sound like my husband! He had been coughing and wheezing and feeling awful for weeks. I finally convinced him to go to Urgent Care and pneumonia! He wasn't hospitalized and got worse so back to the ER 5 days later and a change in meds. He is much better now but really weak still. Denial is strong with folks who are so accustomed to pushing through. I'm so glad you both are on the mend!

  6. Gosh, Lee! Isn't that the pits. I hope you take care of yourself because we sure NEED you on this board. I was SO sick as well, but I fought and fought to come back and breathe on my own; and I made it. You know I am not a young chick, but I might have an older body, but my mind is young as can be and we can tell ourselves that we will be OK. Life is just so beautiful! I am praying for you.

  7. Judy has the track I would take - get proof of application, show it was the government itself that caused the delay. Much better chance of getting approval.

  8. Thank you, thank you. She did find more deductions, so she'll be doing eSign when complete. And, if she doesn't get all her deductions to me tonight, like I told her, she'll have to wait until 6 August when I return from Hubby's family reunion to complete her return. Back to packing...

  9. I did have the pneumonia vaccine twice and reacted badly to both. I have had breathing issues for four years, since I was ill for 12 days, four years ago; just before Covid was a word. My hospital Doc said that I have been ill for a long time and fighting it on my own . Breathing issues for four years and it finally tried to take me out.I fought so hard to get rid of the oxygen and breathe on my own. I am pretty stubborn. To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure I could do it, but I had already purchased my tax program and had a lot of unfinished work to do. They fixed me up just fine.

  10. Glad you're on the mend and were wise enough to seek help! Did you have the pneumonia vaccine? I've had both the shingles and pneumonia vaccines. I have breathing issues and had bad bronchitis a few years back.

  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture_family A type or processor/CPU. The leading processor for mobile phones, and with this iteration, a real challenger to Intel for computers (because of the power/heat optimization). In some ways, we are seeing or about to see another BetaMax vs VHS scenario. Intel is BetaMax, and ARM devices are VHS (because ARM can be licensed and made by other CPU manufacturers). This time, BetaMax/Intel will likely survive as having the dominant share at present, but ARM/VHS will likely compete well because of their advantages as well as having not built a very good system to run Intel based software on their processors. The current Intel debacle, with processors failing and needing replacement (and not being actively recalled) will only help ARM more. I have not used an Apple PC since an Apple II in school, but I have and use one of the new ARM based machine daily. It could work to be my main, except my main is a dual screen ZenBook which is very handy. At present, you will see these processors marketed in the Windows CoPilot+ machines, like the Surface Pro 11. Other machines will be available shortly, if not already available.

  12. Welcome back Marilyn Yes, trying to work when you don't feel good is hard. I have been struggling with some health issues this month. So far I have missed working 9 days in July. Today, I just finished my payroll reports for the 2nd quarter Hopefully, I am on the way to recovery but it may take another month or two before I am close to normal.

  13. I think the Part II Taxpayer Declaration will answer your question

  14. Without digging, IIRC, for ours, wages were reduced (with likely a note on the item) and the rest fell where it fell. I suspect some did things like show it as a credit or some other means. Of course, net tax will be higher because deductible expenses were lower, that is the thing folks with no accounting knowledge do not "see", they just see "I got X in free money". We went through similar calcs on PTET actual savings, including cost of money. Good old math is why solar does not work for me (in CA under the current CA rules) despite my testing the solar sellers every now and again - they never include cost of money, that the breakeven is often at or beyond the warranty period, etc.

  15. Call the practitioners hotline. While they may not give you a specific answer without a POA ,they will at the very least tell you how to find out what you need to know. I used this approach twice last year and was very happy with their assistance.

  16. That lengthy discussion is here with which credits would have been allowed with SSN, ITIN, or ATIN. I don't think it would work because the SSN is supposed to have been received in order to claim these credits, but does the client have proof of when application for the SSN was made and can prove that the delay was the government?

  17. It has been just over a month. While not using my Arm machine full time, there is nothing I cannot install and use on it, that I am using on a Wintel machine. I found one quirk, in my own software, which I was able to fix via a slight coding change, and/or via changing the emulator settings to the safer option. As for comparing program speed, once an x86 based app opens, it is tough to see any perceptible difference, at least in what I do (productivity apps, my own apps, program coding, etc.) Load time is probably +20% (relatively insignificant) as the emulator "does its thing". I am comparing apples to apples, a new ARM based machine and a new Intel machine, both t=with the consumer level chips (not the pro level). Of note, the apps I use most often are x86 apps, not x64. Might make a difference, might not. I suspect the emulator on Macs (usually Parallels) is likely as good, maybe even better than WoA/Prism because of longevity. For certain, I have customers using Mac/Parallels, and a few using WoA/Prism. My own payroll and accounting is now done using my WoA machine. For me, the different is power use and heat. WoA is less on both fronts. There is talk that Intel has a new chip in the works which will compete on both fronts, but only time will tell. The better news is the silicon is becoming more and more immaterial, since the emulators are getting better, and chip speed makes the emulator overhead barely perceptible for all but gaming. For a recent 5 day trip, I used my WoA machine, to access my Wintel machine (left at home). I did not have to charge the WoA machine once for the relatively limited time I used it each day. The noticeable heat reduction on my lap was appreciated.

  18. I placed the order in May and paid the price. I know that I want the program, I will use the program and there is no room for negotiation. I got it over with and moved on. I did look at other options in the meantime, but, honestly, I really like the Max program and it has treated me well. Too many other things to worry about.

  19. Not for long I suspect. I have not used a desktop in years, but it is reasonable to believe there are already ARM desktops, and likely updated ones coming soon. They, prior to today, are not something the average person would get and expect to match a Windows only box. There are already ARM laptops, but performance is not all that great (according to reports) with W32/64 apps because of the overhead. The new snapdragon chips, and the revisions to Windows, are supposed to make the overhead nearly moot. In my case, since MS is calling their new surface stuff "consumer" versions, and the intel based stuff "business", I have to accommodate ARM for certain. Personally, I am happy about the longer batt life as it should equate to less power needed. I suppose the basics, If I followed correctly, is for intel chips, the architecture is roughly the same as it was in the 8088 days, with more and more things on chip to handle the faster things we have today. All of that add on sort of processing is expensive in cost, complicity, and power. For the snapdragon, we use them in many phones, so their power needs have been up front from day one. With MS updating the emulation in Windows itself, instead of some sort of hardware solution, we are at or getting closer to where the hardware may no longer be Windows/Mac/Phone, it may be the hardware does fast computing at reasonable cost and power usage, and the operating system handling the rest, whatever OS on whatever machine. If this all works out, it compares (in my youth days) to being able to buy an engine from wherever, and putting it into any vehicle without having to go to a third party for mounts/adapters/etc. Or in recent days, what the EV makers did by finally agreeing on one plug standard.
