  1. I would amend this. For everyone reading this, also keep in mind that plenty of states don't recognize superceded returns so that a consideration. This doesn't answer the question for Tom,but it is a good discussion of the differences and has a chart comparing the 2 methods: https://blog-mbgcpa-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/blog.mbgcpa.com/amended-vs-superseded-tax-returns?amp_gsa=1&amp_js_v=a9&hs_amp=true&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=17385457517143&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.mbgcpa.com%2Famended-vs-superseded-tax-returns

  3. If he paid independent contractors for services or labor, then he should send Forms 1099-NEC on a calendar-year basis. (Other qualifiers, such as non-corporation, over $600, etc., still apply.)

  4. I was leaning to amending. Thanks for the confirmation. I will wait until the amended return is processed and then amend. Tom Longview, TX

  5. Wondering how long it will keep you authenticated? A day, a week, the rest of tax season, until you have to change your password? Tom Longview, TX

  6. At the bottom of the pop up where you enter the authentication code, and yes it does nullify the reason to have it. My guess is that the support calls about it were overwhelming the support team, so they said, screw it, and caved.

  7. Judy, I forget about the trash bin. Let me start there. Thanks for the detailed explanation. And voila'! The icon was in the recycle bin, from which I was able to restore it to the desktop. Gremlins were at work on my computer in my absence. It is d/c'd from the internet when I am not at work. Thank you !!!!!!!!

  9. You said you have to search for it. Is it also gone from your start menu? Have you checked the recycle bin? You can try this:

  10. I wouldn't think they would change it. Other software vendors let you decide what security you want to use. Proseries does and Drake. Its up to the preparer to meet IRS requirements.

  12. Superseding returns must be filed before the due date (including extensions). https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-taxpayers-now-have-more-options-to-correct-amend-returns-electronically If the original return and amendment were efiled, I believe you can efile up to 3 amendments total.

  13. I think that I would amend the original 1040, while picking up the adjustments on the first amendment.

  16. When I turned on my computer this morning the ATX 2024 icon had disappeared from the desktop. I can find the program with a search, but haven't figured out how to re-add the icon to the desktop. Options are pin to start or pin to taskbar. Anyone have any ideas? I've searched the communities here and didn't see anything on topic. Thanks,
