  1. If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, what is the sign of an empty desk?
  2. I try to make auditors as comfortable as possible. I have found that if you are nice to them, they usually tend to be a little more lenient with the client. It works more often than not. As KC says, they work year round and can't just sit in their office and twiddle their thumbs during tax season. What bugs me is all the workmen's comp audits that have to be done during tax season.
  3. I didn't say I am not trying to keep up. I'm just saying that it is harder when you get older. The brain doesn't work as efficiently as you age. I sincerely hope your brain is still as efficient 20 years from now as it is now. Also, some people are naturally smarter than others and I recognize that I am not one of the smarter ones. I also recognize that there is a difference between knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom.
  4. I liked the 20th century a lot better. It was a lot simpler. When you become "elderly", technology becomes more difficult.
  5. I think the only thing that code does is show the IRS what deductions are normal for that type of business. If the code accurately reflects the type of business there is less chance of audit. I doubt that the IRS keeps track of the code year by year.
  6. I would like to see the time go back an hour each month. That way we could sleep an hour later once a month. Maybe during tax season it could go back an hour each week. The hardest thing I do every day is to get up in the morning. After that, the rest of the day is pretty easy.
  7. My wife went to a Dr. Pain one time.
  8. TP may mean that he/she is getting the information "done" to send to you.
  9. I use MetroFax.com. $8.95 or $8.99 per month. Works great for me.
  10. I wasn't referring to Rita. I was referring to me.
  11. So old is when a person becomes a hundred years old.
  12. Thanks KC and Jack. I'll do that. I don't need any more headaches during the rush of tax season. This is the first time I have ever experienced this problem and had no idea at all what caused it. It is a desktop.
  13. Thanks Jack. At least now I'll know where to look when it happens.
  14. I just rebooted and it went away. Weird. It was on the screen no matter which program I was in.
  15. Last night I was sending an email and highlighted a sentence to underline it. It burned a faint image into my monitor and it won't go away. I now have a blue blur across my screen and no, it isn't on the outside of the screen, it won't wipe off. Has anyone ever have this happen to them and is there any way to get rid of the blur?
  16. "free federal and $9.99 for state" You can bet no one will walk out of an H&R Block office not paying more than that by the time they get through adding on all the extra charges. They advertise all kinds of gimmicks to get people in and then they stick it to them.
  17. I had a sales tax audit here in Alabama years ago on a small grocery store. They showed me a list of invoices where the client had purchased 3 or 4 times as much beer as he showed sales for. The store closed shortly after that. A year or two after that, two men from the criminal investigation division of the IRS came to my office and read me my rights and then started asking me questions about the former client. Apparently the answers I gave satisfied them because I never heard from them again.
  18. I got my 1095-B from the VA covering the whole year about a week ago. I haven't got the one from medicare yet but it will also be for the whole year. Can I take double credit? Will I get a refund? Maybe I should just be thankful that I have coverage. A lot of people don't.
  19. Yes, I find the white print on black or dark background very irritating also. I feel like anything worth writing is worth making easy for the reader to read.
  20. It has gotten to where a lot if not most web sites including this forum uses light colored print which makes it very hard to read. Or is it just my eyes getting dimmer? Is there a purpose for this? Is this a problem for the rest of you, or am I the only one? Just wondering.
  21. Is that what you would call an April 15th dance?
  22. "Why is Microsoft pushing it so hard and giving it away? " Diabetic test meters are fairly cheap. The test strips they use are not. Maybe Microsoft has something up their sleeve that is going to cost us after we get hooked. Windows 10 updates are now mandatory. I wonder if they are pushing us toward the cloud and once we get there, they have got us and it will be expensive. Just wondering.
  23. I have seen too many people die shortly after retiring. God created us with the need to work and when we quit, we start breaking down. I think it is so sad to go to the mall and see all the old people sitting on the benches with nothing to do. They do not look happy. I do have to admit that I have slowed down a lot. The hardest thing I do everyday is get out of bed. Once I have accomplished that, the rest of the day is a lot easier.
  24. Catherine, I downloaded eM Client and it works great. Thank you so much.
