I buy everything I can on my credit card for the cash back. Whenever I buy something, I deduct that amount from my checkbook immediately and at the end of the month, I can pay off the entire credit card.

I get an increase in my social security each year because I don't even have 35 years of social security earnings. I worked for the federal government quite a few years and social security wasn't paid in at that time. When federal wages came under social security, I was grandfathered in the old regs and I opted to not be included. Wish now I had.

I closed my account with a bank I had been using for years because they started charging me for deposits that I mailed in instead of bringing them to the bank to deposit. I am in a rural area and it is not convenient for me to go the bank every time I have a deposit to make. I am now using a credit union and am very pleased with their service.

I charge $100 for an amended return and if it takes more than an hour, I charge by the hour at $100 hour. (I have to estimate the time because I am a one man office and I estimate how long it would take me if I had no interruptions which I always do.)

I would think the compliance audit which is the audit from hell is done on returns that are filed early in the season. That is just my gut feeling since info from the compliance audit is used to program the computers in selecting returns for audit.
