  1. Why not? I LIKE to hear fireworks.
  2. I'm glad that I no longer deal with ATX.
  3. What are our schools teaching the kids? How can we know where we are going when we don't know where we have been?
  4. Also consider if stock is purchased you can state on your letterhead . . . in business since xxxx.
  5. I always send a letter. I don't call unless it is absolutely necessary.
  6. If they don't send a check with the 8879, don't transmit until you do get the check.
  7. $69 for shipping is beyond ridiculous. I would prefer that they label the increase in price as what it is, not label it as something else. I despise deception. I like shopping at Dollar General stores because they price merchandise as $2.00, not $1.95.
  8. I don't understand why they can sell the same product to one client cheaper than to another person. I don't like to deal with companies that don't deal fairly with everyone. In my opinion for whatever it is worth, they should determine what they feel is a fair price and one that they can deal with and sell it to everyone for that price. They are saying by their policy that they are going to stick you for whatever they can. I'm glad that I don't deal with them anymore.
  9. Years ago I owned a small service station. I had just bought a miniature sand blaster to clean spark plugs. A high school kid that I had hired wanted to try it out and put his finger over the hole where the spark plug goes and turned it on. It really messed his finger up. That "dumb kid" is now a successful lawyer.
  10. I got a good laugh from this. Like Patrick said, someone must have fallen off a roof using a snow blower at some time. Maybe I should put a warning sign on my pencil sharpener, "WARNING - Do Not Put Finger In Pencil Sharpener."
  11. Am I understanding correctly that windows 10 downloaded on your computer without you telling it to? That is scary.
  12. When I upgraded to windows 10, it scattered all my documents all over the place. Later I did find a file called "cobrand" that had all my documents in order. Don't know if this will help any or not.
  13. I'll have to pass this on to my wife. She bought me a birthday present once and I knew exactly how much she paid for it and where she bought it before she got home.
  14. I have my credit card set up so that I receive an email for each purchase over $1.00. I instantly know any time my credit card is used.
  15. Drake sent out a notice stating what the price will be if acted upon by certain dates. NO NEGOTIATING. I like that kind of business. They give a price and you either accept it or don't. BTW there hasn't been a price increase in several years.
  16. This reminds me of the old "Have Gun - Will Travel" television program.
  17. Don't forget the cost of the sign.
  18. I'm just thankful that Alabama taxes are a lot easier than a lot of other states.
  19. I have filed zero extensions for many years with some of them winding up owing quite a bit and as far as I know, there has never been a problem.
  20. "The bill would also prohibit the IRS from entering into agreements that would restrict its ability to provide such free, online services directly to taxpayers. The IRS has signed a number of binding agreements with the tax preparation industry over the years that blocks it from offering free services directly to taxpayers itself, saying that it will “not enter the tax preparation software and e-filing services marketplace” and “not compete” with private service providers. " So that's how H&R Block and others get away with what they do!
  21. In Alabama, some of the cities have an occupational tax. It is a flat rate on gross pay, no deductions, no nothing, in some cities as much as 2%. It is taken out by the employer and the employee doesn't have to do any reporting. The only way it shows up on a tax return of the employee is as a deduction on both the federal and state tax returns. Some employees may not even know they are paying the tax.
  22. Hmm. He must have had a special sense to be able to pick those out.
  23. I use to have a client that would give me all his mail unopened. Sometimes there would e a certified letter from the IRS that hadn't even been opened. I guess certified mail from the IRS doesn't mean anything.
  24. See? We really do have to be careful how we say things.
