  1. I just finished updating and my latest version reads 2.0.91, not 2.85? Please review and let us know which one is correct. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  2. They informed me that they did provide TaxWise to existing customers fro 2009, not new customers. They appear to be offering what is call their new software product which they claimed was TaxWorks. I am waiting for the demo disc and will evaluate and report back. I do not intend to continue with ATX after this year. Thanks and good luck. Mike Dubin CPA
  3. Lion, HRB did in fact purchase TaxWorks in 2007. My good friend a California CPA who does around 500 mixed returns has used TaxWorks for 5 years and swears by it. If TRX has a similar deal with TaxWorks that they have with ATX then the support and transmissions will be through TaxWorks. Thank Mike Dubin CPA
  4. Don, According to TRX they are now providing TaxWorks, not TaxWise Software beginning in year 2009. I am not interested in TaxWise at all but am very interested in TaxWorks. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  5. I was curious to know if anyone out there is currently using TaxWorks software being provided through TRX Pro Alliance? If so could you let me know your opinion of the ease of use, features, pros & cons, etc. Please just let me know if you are out there and if you are too busy to provide details at this time by all means wait until the end of the season. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  6. Thanks to all of you for your kind words. Mike Dubin CPA
  7. This is what ATX should be posting for all of us. I have the latest update. Thanks Dan Mike Dubin CPA
  8. So do I! Thanks Dan Mike Dubin CPA
  9. I posted this communication on the ATX bulliten board. I am suggesting that ATX customer support publish the latest version of their software on a daily basis. This could be accomplished right here and/or the blog. With all of the apparrent issues regarding updating the software this should ease some of the concerns. Thanks for your consideration. Mike Dubin CPA
  10. Is this software some modified version of TaxWorks or something completely written fron scratch? Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  11. Today I attempted to sign in to IntelliConnect and was denied access due to not being subscribed. I registered, took their tutorial and have researched a few issues since receiving ATX software a number of week ago. I called ATX and due to inclement weather they are not taking any calls. I proceeded to email them this problem. Has this happened to anyboby else? Maybe it's another CCH bait and switch tactic? I will keep you posted. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA In addition, while typing this post I noticed that my delete button was not functioning! I haven't encountered this problem anywhere else.
  12. Eric, Would it be possible to link all of the recent threads regarding fixed assets, depreciation, and all other related topics? It appears that some new postings have not been seen and/or read the older ones. Anything that you can do will be greatly appreciated. Thanks & happy new year. Mike Dubin CPA
  13. For everyones information, TRX is offering for $299, 1040 plus unlimited Fed & State E file. Unlimited Business Fed & State, no E file. For my practice this would work just fine. They have offered this package for the past 6 years although they just began offering Taxworks last year. They are offering Taxworks, not Taxwise software which does include a full blown Fixed Assets Program For Free as do many other competitors. I will seriously consider switching to Taxworks for next year. I am waiting for a cd and will further evaluate and report back to all of you. So lets not accept the devious actions of CCH so readily. My good friend and colleague a CPA practicing in California doing in excess of 500 combined tax returns has been using Taxworks for a number of years and he swears by it. Check out their web site and decide for yourself. http://www.taxworks.com/feature_list.aspx Happy & healthy new year to all of you Mike Dubin CPA
  14. As a result of my original inquiry re: removal of fixed asset features I was contacted by ATX and the following ensued. I spoke with Dave Olsen, CPA Director, Product Management CCH Small Firm Services this morning who informed me that they did much due diligence before deciding to remove the fixed asset history. They allegedly visited with some 300 to 400 ATX clients who were surveyed about these features. I assured him that had they visited and or surveyed me they would not have removed any features from the software, I would like to know if any of you were visited and/or surveyed specifically about fixed assets and agreed that it was either of little or no use, didn't work correctly, etc? He did assure me that ATX will be around in the future, based on their budgeted funds, changes and updates to the program, etc. I explained to him that there is a suspicion that CCH is trying to push ATX users into another direction and that they have not been upfront with us in their handling of issues such as eliminating the online community, raising prices, removing functionality, etc. I assured him that if this type of unilateral behavior continues they are likely to not just lose me as a customer. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  15. I sent the following email to: Attention: Kevin Robert CEO, Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting Riverwoods, IL It has come to my attention that the ATX depreciation screen no longer the history and/or future planning capabilities for 2009. As always you unilaterally took the liberty to simply remove these features without any prior notification whatsoever. It reminds me of the CPE feature that used to be part of the package & suddenly disappeared. This is no way to treat your values customers! Had I been aware of this issue prior to renewal I may have decided to leave and purchase your competitors software. That should have been my option. Since acquiring ATX you have successfully pissed off many of your customers by for example, removing the community bulletin board, raising prices, clandestinely removing features and attempting to charge additional for them, etc. You should learn how to operate a service company and be open and honest with your core customers. I hope you get the message and decide to reverse your decision and restore these features. Thank you for your consideration Michael M Dubin CPA 7 year customer
  16. I installed the TTO program last week and everything worked fine. Upon reading this thread I attempted to open a corp. client to evaluate the depreciation. To my surprise, I got a message on all types of returns that I cannot proceed as I need to purchase pay per return licensing. I called and was informed that the install codes were sent out incorrectly and they were good enough to provide me with the correct codes. I reloaded and guess what; the new codes didn’t work either. I suggested that they send me a new disk with the correct codes overnight and email them to me so I can load correctly. They said that they will comply. In addition I addressed the depreciation issue and they confirmed that the history as well as the future was removed. I asked why we were not formally notified of this and had to find out as we go. They simply apologized. Reminds me of the CPE that used to be part of the package & subtly disappeared. I intend to follow up with an email to the CEO of CCH and let them know how dissatisfied all of us are. I wonder if this is the case only with those that ordered from TRX? They never cease to amaze me. I for one will be evaluating other options for 2010. Please let me know if any of you encountered this issue. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  17. Ditto! Loading on two laptops running XP and all seems okay. Mike Dubin CPA
  18. These are a few of the reasons for his being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons. Who do you think should have one, one of the Bush people or Reagan? Get a life. Mike Dubin CPA
  19. My hard drive just quit and I am presently running on XP. I am considering a new computer running Vista with a free upgrade to 7. My question to you is what version of Vista are you using? Home, Professional, \Bussiness, etc. Thanks Mike Dubin CPA
  20. In your case, I would refrain from signing them and mark them self prepared. No registration would be required under these circumstances. Good luck. Mike Dubin CPA
  21. I beg to differ, if deemed necessary, you could always acquiesce after the fact and give them what they originally requested. This is my suggestion and how I would approach it. Good luck Mike Dubin CPA
  22. At my initial meeting with them, I would provide only the requested documentation relating to their domain. I would not provide sales tax, etc. If they were not satisfied with this approach I would suggest they obtain a subpoena or official request from the appropriate agencies in order warrant this additional information. In my professional career this approach has generally worked for me as these agencies tend to not want to get into a long protracted dialogue and most certainly don't want to confront the legality and propriety of their positions. For example one of my clients was being audited by the IRS for his personal taxes for one specific year and the auditor requested addition year’s tax returns for both personal and business taxes. The fact that they originally requested only one year's personal taxes I refused their request and suggested that they file additional paperwork to obtain these records. This audit concluded favorably and they never followed up with their request. Just some of my thoughts on the matter. Good luck Mike Dubin CPA
  23. I just accessed the ATX Board. Mike Dubin CPA
  24. This is all well and good however this is an ATX Community Board and as such we are interested with the ongoing debacle TRX is having with ATX. Please give us your assurances that you will be providing ATX Max & TTO software for 2009 at your stated pricing on your website. I personally will not accept any bait & switch whether it be Tax Wise and/or your home grown software! Thanks for your timely response to many nervous new customers. Mike Dubin CPA
  25. Please see my latest posting under Braedon's thread for up to date important information. Mike Dubin CPA
