  1. It appears that we are going to start using a secure e-mail, of some variety. I would like to hear input, about how some of the members here accomplish it. This needs to meet the IRS specifications for "secure." Any information and/or input is welcome.
  2. Phone call to tech support.
  3. For a land contract to be initiated, there must have been an amortization schedule made out, showing interest, principal, and an itemized print out showing the whole loan. It is NOT your responsibility to keep up with that information. Use whatever basis information you can get. Let him pay the taxes. I am already growing weary of babysitting grown, (supposedly intelligent) adults with things like this. (Rant Over)
  4. "ATX won't efile 1099's or w-2 error with wrong version", is the title of this thread. No mention of SSA BSO or any other issue. It is still not January 27, 2020.
  5. January 27, 2020. Nothing before that date.
  6. January 27, 2020. Nothing before that date.
  7. Put me in the "Boy that cried wolf," and Chicken Little "The sky is falling" group. I have heard this kind of "Panic modeling" so many times, it bores me, and is quite annoying. Think "Y2K."
  8. I see nothing but bad things, by putting a "Donor" tag on certain people. I have contributed, and will contribute in the future. Other than this discussion, there is no reason for anyone to know that I donated. It is "MY" business, what I do with my money. I vote to remove the "Donor" tags.
  9. How is everyone handling the process of filling out the new W-4 for our clients? Should we be charging for the time and effort we expend, to explain (HA HA) to them how it works? I just spent 45 minutes doing just that. I can tell you, she does not understand one bit better, than before our "class." I have companies demanding that employees fill out a new W-4. I thought it was voluntary? Ideas? Thoughts?
  10. Donations can only be claimed, in the year they are actually made. Short answer = NO

Batch filing of extensions is a disaster waiting to happen. There is no way to verify an extension, if batch filed. I will stick to opening the file.
  12. Send me PM, and I will put you on track with the company that builds my system.
  13. Absolutely!! All the seminars, training, and new laws we have to learn, that are not caused by my actions, but yet I must know... YES.
  14. We have seen several clients, that used Form 982, and marked insolvency, that the IRS wants documentation of the insolvency. For some clients, the debt was forgiven 2-3 years earlier. Finding documentation for everything on the Insolvency worksheet, is nigh on to impossible.
  15. Find a qualified computer tech and buy a new computer. There is a chance that the server you are using will not support WIN10. I upgraded our entire network to WIN10, and replaced 5 out of 12 workstations, for that very reason. I have been through it. Get new hardware. Bite the bullet, otherwise, you will have never ending troubles from now on.
  16. All amended forms, must be paper filed. This is never going to change. The IRS set the rule, not the software providers.
  17. This has been in place now for 3 years.
  18. I agree 100%. My first impression was: "too little RAM." RAM is cheap. Nothing less than 16G.
  19. Must have been a long time ago. My info came straight from an IRS rep, giving a seminar, this past July.
  20. The IRS is not even remotely thinking about efile of any amended returns.
  21. What was your salesperson's name? When it was time for me to renew, my salesperson refused to give any discount at all. I WAS a 20 year customer, but that made no difference. They wanted to increase my subscription price by 400%. What is this, about WIN10 having remote access built in?
  22. Perfect! They also make good stress relivers, when me and my 9mm need relief. Nice targets at 15', and you should see them spin as they take flight....
  23. Giving a used computer to Goodwill, is the same as giving them a can of trash. It will have no value to anyone, and will cost Goodwill to have it disposed of. Remove the HD, take a ball peen hammer to it thoroughly, then dispose of it. and the rest of the computer at an electronics recycling center.
