  1. Go to your MYATX page. You can download the install program from there.
  2. Paper File the return. Nothing else you say, or do, will change the situation. There is more going on, than you are being told.
  3. Send a check with the amended return. This is being WAY overthought.
  4. In 20 years of practice, I have NOT been successful at getting clients to change the withholding at their employer.
  5. Since you co-signed the original loan, you are equally responsible for the amount on the 1099-C. There is no way to avoid it. Pay it and sue your ex for her share, in small claims court. First hand experience here, so I know my advice is sage.
  6. This discussion board is NOT connected to ATX whatsoever. We are just a group that started, because we all use/used ATX software, and help each other out with tax issues. You will need to contact ATX directly. Good Luck.
  7. Only if you want to spend hours answering all the questions that will arise. Most of which, you will not have answers for. Simple answer: NO.
  8. Unless you are credentialed, Form 2848 is useless.
  9. Are you using ATX? The worksheet is just a jump from page 2 of 1040.
  10. No problems at all, since the server came back on line. I have transmitted and received acknowledgements for over 40 returns since then.
  11. The check bouncing is a matter between the client and his/her bank. You have no part in this. You should have related this to your client right away. Now the client has you wrapped up in the middle of HIS/HER problem. Tell them so, and back away... You are NOT responsible for their checking account and/or balances. PERIOD.
  12. Get as much RAM as the motherboard will handle. Never too much RAM. 16GB minimum. If the motherboard will not hold this much, find a different machine. This is not an area to skimp on. Bigger & Faster are all good for your business. Chalk up the cost, to the cost of doing your business. Agree with ILLMAS about the SSD.
  13. I have used ATX continuously since tax year 2003. It has had its problems, but I like the way it operates. Send me a PM and I will be glad to share more information with you.
  14. Delete the 1040 EF INFO document from the return. Delete the State EF INFO document (if applicable.) Close the return Open the return. Click on the large E-file Icon in the top bar Click to allow the addition of e-file forms. Fill in the appropriate information. Re-create the e-file. All should work just fine.
  15. Yes. You can efile 2016, 2017, & 2018 until Oct. 15, 2019.
  16. EFINs are address specific. Yes, you will have to apply for a new EFIN, if you move.
  17. Submissions are date stamped, with the date you submit them. Too much worry...
  18. If your program was crashing multiple times, you need to check anti-Virus and other "system protection" software to see if it is causing the shutdown. We have done 2,500 here at the firm, and have experienced crashing, only when I tried to open 3 returns at a time. Maybe 20 times, all season. Also, if your computer hardware is more than 2 years old, REPLACE IT WITH NEW EQUIPMENT that has all the specifications to handle the new program. Do NOT SKIMP on the system, due to price.
  19. I, brow beat him till he lowered his prices by 60%. "You have many competitors" "I have been your customer for 20 Years. "Many of your competitors have very easy conversion." "I am not afraid of conversion."
  20. You can only file an extension, from inside the tax return.
  21. Many Payroll companies software will not allow a specific percentage. I always recommend Single and ZERO exemptions, plus $XX per pay period, if needed. Many payroll people in companies, have not clue about what we are discussing, causing even more frustration.
  22. If you e-file, you do not need 8453. Form 8879 will be adequate. I have not sent Form 8453, in 15 years.
