Using parent bank account for direct deposit
Jack from Ohio replied to ILLMAS's topic in General Chat
The only issues that MAY arise would come from the bank. Some banks allow deposits from people not listed on the account, others do not. Each bank has its own policy. -
Neither of those are/were part of the regulations or directions.

Personal Usage of rental property-am I correct?
Jack from Ohio replied to NECPA in NEBRASKA's topic in General Chat
No loss. Expenses cannot exceed income. You are correct in your assessment. -
It is NOT our place to determine qualifications related to insurance coverage. That is between the taxpayer, their insurance agent, their employer or the marketplace.
-
The entire marketplace system is/was a disaster. To expect the marketplace numbers to match reality is a fantasy. This is our government at its finest.

The only required fields are routing and account numbers. There is NO IRS requirement for the other information. Not sure the reason ATX put that information in the worksheet. Too much extra effort.
-
The only fields needed are routing and account number. I leave all others blank.

I do not use the client letter other than the cover sheet. Clients don't read them anyway. Seems it is too much trouble and a waste of their time.

100% increase in your normal fee to correct the issue.

Taking a long time to approve a simple tax return
Jack from Ohio replied to Dan's topic in General Chat
They were looking on "Where's my refund." That is entirely different than being accepted. People are going to have to learn not to be so impatient. Chaps me when the IRS is slow, and the client asks ME why it is taking the IRS so long. They choose NOT TO LISTEN when I tell them refunds are being delayed and there is NO TIME FRAME published by the IRS. Rant over!! -
The scammers have chosen the states because no one would think they would. http://www.tax.ohio.gov/IdentityTheft-IDQuiz.aspx This is what Ohio is doing. Thousands have been sent so far.

Wait. It is your only course of action. -
So in your scenario, he can deduct more than he actually paid in 2014? He can deduct total purchases?

May Day! Update 14.5 causing issues, PLEASE READ!
Jack from Ohio replied to rfassett's topic in General Chat
Updated 10 workstations to 14.5. No issues. -
I totally disagree with the depreciation idea. These are tools his EMPLOYER requires for him to perform his JOB. Directly to 2106. He is NOT self-employed. These are NOT business equipment. ASE Gold Certified Master Technician from 1974 till 2004. Left the trade as a Service Manager in a major automotive company dealership. I don't miss it!!

He can only deduct the payments he actually made in 2014. All goes directly to 2106. I do not believe that the capitalization/repair rules apply to him as this is unreimbursed employee expense.

NO! Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Strictly prohibited.

Call tech support. You have an installation, program interference or some other similar problem.

Household Income less than 100% Poverty Level...What to do for 2016?
Jack from Ohio replied to carolynm's topic in ACA
Agree with Tom. We are not the babysitter for their insurance issue. -
Maybe the government used the same website creators as they did for healthcare.gov? Makes no sense!! We are only about 50 miles apart....
-
There are a few possible causes. Too many to try to go over here. As much as I hate to say it, you need to call tech support. Make sure you only have one anti-virus program. You may have malware causing issues as well. At the firm and my personal practice we have has zero program crashes for 2014.

I am not sure what it says that I am the only AFSP (E.A. documents have not come in yet) within 250 miles.... That distance takes in Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis and several other large cities...
