  1. Or based on the other questions, I assumed the OP was asking about federal taxes withheld from wages - which of course would be included in the total wages and not deducted again.
  2. ...only works if you get off three times a day (off the computer, that is.)
  3. Apparently the find other things more crucial, even though it looks like this would be a simple thing to get out of the way.
  4. I have e-filed a 1041 already using ATX, however, I did not have to worry about estimates and I believe that was what the OP was about.
  5. Cheers, JB. Thanks for inviting us to have a drink with you.
  6. And to correct KC's typo, it is spelled farrier.
  7. I would rather our elected officials actually worked together and passed a real budget that cut spending appropriately. Since that obviously is not going to happen, at least spending has been cut a little bit.
  8. I had one (with EIC) that I have been checking since early Feb. Acceptance date was 2/2/13. Finally, today, it shows refund approved. Hooray! She will now hopefully quit calling me to ask why everyone else has their money and she doesn't!
  9. And now that we can easily attach PDF files to e-files, I would attach a statement showing her insolvency immediately before the cancellation of debt. It couldn't hurt, and you should have it prepared in your files anyway.
  10. I am using the print packets, but checking and unchecking things when I bring up the print manager. So far, this is not causing me problems, although I am having to get used to where things are because it is a little different than the old ATX. For instance, the detail sheet for form 4562 is now under form 4562 instead of being under the worksheet for 4562. I agree with whoever said this was a strange year. The problems seem to vary so much between users, even users with similar hardware configurations, that it is almost like there are many different programs out there instead of one program. Wierd.
  11. Glad it has gone so well! Nice to have a break before you go back to the doctor.
  12. If you are using Word to create the document, I think that you can save the file as a PDF file.
  13. You should be able to create a PDF file and attach it to the efile
  14. I would like to be your friend.
  15. Thanks, Eric. Probably all of the rants about ATX are increasing the bandwidth we use. We appreciate this forum, and all that you do to look out for us!
  16. I wonder how things would play out with the economy and social security if EITC was eliminated, and instead there was no SS tax levied on the first $50,000 of earned income, with no cap on the other end? But when it is time to draw on SS, you still calculate as though the first $100,000 was the basis. Would that generate more or less for social security?
  17. It was a thread on the official ATX forum that showed pictures of things that are slower than ATX. They were old computer systems - punch card, ticker tape, etc. Somebody over there must not have thought it was funny. But I did. Glad I saw the link before the posting disappeared!
  18. Actually, ATX has said that there is a fault in the program causing this message to appear erroneously. This is one of the issues preventing users from having multiple returns open, and is supposed to be fixed in the next program release 12.10
  19. The last I saw on Kim's blog they had moved the release from Tuesday 2/26 to Wednesday 2/27 for version 2.10. I saw mention today of a release 2.11 but no projected date for that.
  20. Jack, I am running a domain server with workstations. We use SBS 2011 on the server, and all the workstations have Windows 7. I can't say we aren't having any problems, but so far they are relatively minor compared to most postings I see. Occasional crash, can't import K-1 data, still getting used to fixed asset format this year, and slow as molasses to load program, newly rolled over returns and print packets. But we are chugging along. I thought perhaps the fact that we just replaced our server this summer was what was saving us.
  21. Did he get a degree from the "foreign" college? I think the AOTC is only available for your first four year degree. If he is doing graduate studies or completing a second degree, I don't think he is eligible. Did not look it up, though, so I am willing to be corrected.
  22. Probably offended Kimmie, maybe Jeff before he left, other CCH personnel. Who knows?
  23. I don't believe 8582 is available until early March. However, do remember that farmers have until April 15 this year. IRS announced that earlier. This will only be a problem if your state is not allowing them extra time even though IRS is.
  24. My heart goes out to you Joan. Never an easy time to lose a friend, but a stressful tax season has to be about the worst time possible.
  25. What in the world did you say over there? I have seen some really derogatory things posted on their board the few times I have looked this year - in fact, I was surprised it didn't have "technical" difficulties and get shut down.
