  1. I couldn't find it, thanks. I watched it again, LMAO! The end was the best for me.
  2. I saw this last night and I hope you get to see it because you will fully relate and get a good laugh out of it.
  3. Been talking with my friend an hour north of New Orleans near MS and he says it is a typical rainy day in LA. But then again, a typical rainy day for him is watching cop shows and eating chips and drinking Kombucha tea (I guess to offset the chips) so how would he know what's going on outside? Stay safe down there, and maybe take his rainy day advice and stay inside.
  4. Same to you Elrod. Happy Birthday America!
  5. Thanks, I actually feel a little emboldened and compassionate about this.
  6. Not only did client make my day but you guys did too! Elrod, those glasses look very familiar to me. Had my physical recently and Doc said 1 or 2 glasses a day, but I don't remember him saying anything about the size of the glass or how high, so I will use my good judgment.
  7. It worked! First client received refunds of $8K and $9K plus interest. Waiting to hear from next 2 clients I also amended. I'm hearing that it depends on who is looking at the return, so may be luck of the draw. They deserved it, made my day. Client told me to pick the restaurant. Of course I will include the cost of the meal in income, I hope I remember to write it down after the $50 bottle of wine.
  8. Is there a way to get a product key? Looks like that's needed for the download.
  9. I removed all of Dell's Support Assist. I found the updates in control panel and removed them too. Thank you for keeping us safe out there.
  10. We can always count on you Elrod, thank you! I remember you thought of us last year for this donut delight. Hope you are enjoying retirement. I too am trying my best to slow down and smell the roses and donuts real soon. You're one of the best, Bill

    ATX Renewal

I would be remiss if I didn't relate this to all of you. I did get a call from my rep yesterday. While over the last few weeks I was seriously considering going to Drake after a road test because I had a few issues this year, although not so terrible to impact my business. I related those issues to my rep who quite aptly wrote everything down and said all the other reps are referring these concerns to management to improve their product. Yes, I know, what else would he say as a good salesman, but it gave me some comfort that maybe I was helping in some way. I have been with ATX since '96, and can remember joking about the weather in Caribou, so as I could easily move to Drake, it would break my heart....knowing I would miss the easy interface I have become so accustomed to. I even did a Beta test one year that I considered an honor to be included. As John H said, you have to be ready to book.....I was, as I thought their price increase to be out of line, considering what has happened this year. Other than the program problems, the breach could have happened to anyone, their communication with customers was unacceptable and totally inconsiderate. I would never ever do that to my clients. So, with that being said, I told my rep I didn't think the price increase was fair. I said I would not pay more than last year. He then started to negotiate and we agreed on a $48 dollar increase if management would agree. He asked me to hold.....went for a quick smoke and came back and said he got the OK. All in all, being with the company this long, I think it is important that we still support them, there is much of the product we like, and some things we dislike, so we should try to help them bring it back to its original prominence among its peers. I don't want to see them fail, none of us should. They need help, and they are crying out for us to be there for them, they just don't know how to ask or say it.
  12. Is that the same River City from the Music Man? Ya got trouble? Right here in River City?
  13. I see Amazon has 8.1 for as little as $7.20 - $37. Getting it from Microsoft you would need the product key which was offered to me by a friend. These seem like good options as I'm hearing 8.1 is more reliable than 10. I use 10 on another machine and not happy with it.
  14. Thanks Abby. Looks like I can get 8.1 directly from Microsoft. Will just need to reinstall applications. I also have a laptop with Win 7 that I only use for email and searches so I may just try it.
  15. Well that's discouraging. Not planning on spoofing anyone so there goes that option.
  16. I recently checked it out and come January 2020 you can extend 7 by paying per computer. I read it will be $50 first year, then $100 the second and I think $150 the last year. I was planning on getting a new computer, now not sure as my current one works well. Will probably extend either way, it's only money, we can always make more.
  17. Then I would call in to ATX, maybe there is some synchronization (for lack of a technical term) that has to be fixed. Sounds like the transmitted estimates are the problem, but what do I know. Give them a call, they have nothing to do now other than hounding you for a renewal. Good luck.
  18. Are you using the 1040ES E file option in the current year's return?
  19. I’ve always been happy with my desktop Dells, while not being a computer techie, I’ll get the latest with as much Ram and speed available as I keep them until old operating system loses support. My current one is an i7 that is 6 years old, fast and never a problem. I always buy them striped of bells and whistles and just use for work. The only thing I will now include is an SSD as Abby recommends. So I will be getting a new one this year with Win10, and looking forward to, as Bulldog said, “beating them up over price.” Now if I can only find my AMEX card, I’ll be golden.

When I deserted my office Monday for my traditional getaway I did have two states outstanding over 24 hours. None were VA, but NY and MA. I had read on the other board some people had the same concern.
  21. From what I know about you all the fires go out and there are no rekindles.
  22. Tragic as this is, the Cathedral will be rebuilt better than before. The aging structure has been undergoing renovation for years. It has survived so much, and will continue on as this fire has now become a part of its history. When the stone walls are considered safe the new roof and nave will welcome visitors to see the blackened wall from the Great Fire of ‘19. I think I heard there is already a billion dollars in contributions. Imagine how beautiful this church will be. The original walls will be there and the artifacts once restored will be placed in their updated home. The Paris Fire Department chaplain and 1st alarm units were brave and risked their lives to save artifacts including the Crown of Thorns. PS. There will probably be a state of the art sprinkler/fire suppression system installed.
  23. Generally it went well. Few problems with the program but no need to call in. Under withholding was a big factor and spent some time explaining, but sending the highlighted Comparison sheet with the return was very helpful. Some clients didn't do so great with the new tax bill but most had no problem accepting it. The 6 schedules slowed me down in the beginning so one day when I had nothing to do I sat down and memorized which is which. Also, next year should be a breeze with knowing ahead whether schedule A is needed or not. Thank you everyone for your valued input, I've learned from you and grateful for your help. Always and Forever.
  24. No AMT either. Some of my high real estate tax clients from Long Island and Westchester caught a break. Paying 18K for 3 bedrooms and 2 baths is enough of an insult. But others with high combined SALT weren't so lucky when it came to the bottom line. I never could wrap my head around this tax bill. Except for 199A helping small business people I feel the rest was a lot of hocus pocus, now you see it, now you don't tax law. But I'm done, I think I'll have some avocado toast and coffee and watch the other news.
