    SEP IRA

While the max for the more highly compensated owners can be up to lessor of 25% or $55K for 2018 they would probably get away cheaply on a few much lower paid employees. But if it is a bigger company it could get expensive for the SCorp.
  2. Thought I would put together a little poem to help me remember basics when speaking with clients: Can I take QBI Deduction Let's see your personal situation You're an employee, not an owner Not for you, you're a loner You have a business First step in this messiness Not for C corps, just a big blankness QBI, SSB, W2s, Qualifying Property, there's an exception under threshold amount 315K and 157.5K is the count I think I'm good to go for now.
  3. Yes, I'm sure that's true. And both sides either far right and far left irritate me. I've got both in my family and friends and I'm ready to look for a big rock to get under.
  4. That's for sure. Can't believe anything those guys say. Although by the title you never know these days.
  5. Yes, SS#s and used individual worksheet. I had no errors. Haven't checked on acceptance yet.
  6. I just did a bunch of 1099s, e filed them, and have not had this situation. You are using Payroll Compliance program, correct?
  7. I have found www.efile4biz.com. Reviews are good and prices very reasonable.

    1099 ROLLOVER

Payroll Compliance went to same platform as tax programs. It gets a little quirky but for any W2 work I find BSO Direct to be a breeze.

    1099 ROLLOVER

I haven't experienced that. I rolled over an individual today and all data was correct. What I do have a problem with is the server error with Payroll Compliance.
  10. Well....so much to say here....but inappropriate on this site. All I can say is, what a serious, terrible, total malf*ckup our government has created. We the people, good luck to us all.
  11. And for line research right click but I think you have to enter credentials if you have that package.
  12. Sure, F3 or the support tab then government instructions. In PDF format? Not sure, my memory fails me.
  13. Yes, but for 2016 (the dreaded server error), all the other years work. Needed a copy but luckily I got it off my backup. I'll call Monday 8am and get it straightened out. Start dialing at 7:59 and keep hitting re dial, you'll be first, now you know my secret. I hate being on hold.
  14. Evidently client got what they paid for with new preparer. Now they are coming to you with hat in hand to save them from the pickle they got themselves into. So they are probably relying on your good nature to take them back as they know they screwed up. Tough decision, you'll have to decide if larger fee is worth it, but they may balk and give you grief on price increase. On second thought, I would run on this one.
  15. There will be some clients who will want to get pickled after they hear the bad news. Those that have adjusted withholdings lower and will not benefit from the tax bill. I have a few on my radar that will not be happy. So happy new year, enjoy the time off while it lasts, and remember, don't DWP (Driving While Pickled).
  16. From holiday greetings to pickles, that's what this season is all about, friends sharing with each other. We'll always have pickles together!
  17. You can still find Wiejske Wyroby pickles online at Costco, Sam's Club, and Amazon. I agree, they are delicious and I'm an old Ba Tampte customer from Brooklyn, although their products have fallen some in quality. Now I found a local vendor in MA that makes a great half sour pickle, like they just came out of the barrel.
  18. And of course Happy Festivus to the secular minority who celebrated on 12/23. At our house we celebrate Chrisnukah on Christmas day with an open house where all are welcome. As Abby says, we raise glasses, feast, and dance. Only rule is no politics (unlike Festivus where "airing of grievances is first order of business"). If you read Doonesbury on Sunday the comic strip was exactly what happened at our house last year. We almost made it to the end and someone said something and started off two other people. I had to expel the offender and he gets a 1 year ban, although if he shows up he will surely be welcomed. Joy to all this holiday season and all the best to everyone for the new year.
  19. I Have a sheet printed from website with all past years Max and Payroll. Need to be prepared at all times. And I was never a boy scout.
  20. We had a guy who prided himself because he never went sick. He would come in sniffling , coughing, sneezing and touching all our stuff. We wanted to kill him, and yes, it would have been self defense and there would have been no witnesses.

    Myatx login

Didn't have any problem viewing my office, etc. Like Margaret I am not too happy with login, even though I've checked 'trust this device for 90 days" it still won't recognize. Also takes 4-5 reCAPTCHAs to get in. Also trying to make 2 step authorization go to text instead of email, having a little problem changing it.
  22. I think most clients will understand and be receptive to an increase as long as it is not overboard or much above what they would pay somewhere else. They've been bombarded with new tax bill news and will welcome our advice and information to keep them up to date on the changes and how it affects them, they should know we are putting time into this. My only reserve is raising the elderly on fixed income. I get too close to them, would be like raising my Mother, and she only pays with love, or so she says.
  23. The Kremlin's security agency has been buying typewriters to write communications to avoid having their electronic orders and communications intercepted. I'm sure they would love your old Selectrics so be careful if buyer is from St Petersburg. I wonder where they are finding the ribbons for the old machines.
  24. I find pricing to be a difficult and sensitive subject, especially with longtime clients. I've usually raised prices moderately to keep up with inflation and try to get more in line with what Yardley has been experiencing with new clients. Although I don't take on new clients other than the kids of present clients, I am starting off with a higher base fee for a standard return. I am thinking of incorporating a rate hike notice in my day after New Year's day letter and organizer explaining that rates will go up more than in the past noting that the new tax bill is the reason. After all, I have been spending an inordinate amount of time trying to make sense of Sec199A, and after looking at the new 1040 and 6 schedules....well, time is money.
