Whoa! Just learned you can link fields in Customize Master Forms

And when you discard/re-add you can just close/reopen and the county will be repopulated. -

I stand corrected. You don't have discard and re-add. Rollovers use the customized master. You only need to discard/re-add for returns that were rolled over before the customization. -

Just discard and re-add the 502 and 502D. You just have to choose the county and town on the data page. -
I can't believe how much you all like inhaling chemical off-gassing of plastics and other materials. I try to avoid those chemicals at all cost in every product I use.

I haven't used them in over a year. I never used the EIN one because I delete the 1099G. (I'd consider that a tip.)

Creating Links Between Fields source: http://files.cchsfs.com/doc/atx/2014/Help/14.3/Content/Both-SSource/Creating Links Between Fields.htm Use the Start Link and Finish Link feature to create a link between two fields on any form (including schedules and worksheets). This function, represented by the Start Link/Finish Link toggle button on the toolbar above an open return, links text or numeric values from one field (source field) to another field (destination field). After a link has been established, changes made in the Start Link field are reflected in the destination field. When checking a return for errors (Check Return), the Finish Link field (destination) will be marked as an overridden field. Start/Finish links automatically roll over from prior year or prior period returns. To create custom links: Select the source field. Do one of the following: On the toolbar, click the Start Link button. From the Edit menu, select Start Link. Navigate to the destination field on any form, schedule, or worksheet. Do one of the following: On the toolbar, click the Finish Link button. From the Edit menu, select Finish Link. If it takes longer than 40 seconds to finish the link, the request will be canceled. Destination fields have a green background. Creating links between fields: example of source/destination fields Canceling Relationship between Two Linked Fields To undo the link between two fields: Place the cursor in the destination (green) field. Do one of the following: On the toolbar, click the Restore button. From the Edit menu, select Restore Field. Press Ctrl+R. When the green background disappears from the destination field, you know the link has been removed. Exceptions: When Fields Cannot Accept a Link The following fields cannot be linked: Input or Detail Sheets Itemized Lists Circular references or mathematical loops Whenever a field cannot be linked, you'll receive a message that will alert you to this exception.

We need a tips and tricks sticky post to share this kind of stuff. Here's the link: http://files.cchsfs.com/doc/atx/2014/Help/14.3/Content/Both-SSource/Creating Links Between Fields.htm This solves a couple issues with MD forms (paging Richcpaman!) like automating the county name on the 502D worksheet and the new physical address field, but I'm sure I'll find more uses for it. And if you knew about this and didn't tell me, this is for you ಠ_ಠ.

This seems to imply that it is subject to SE and should have been on a W2.

Does it make you high?

Did you notice the typos in the MFJ 2016 tax table? I already let them know. No big deal. We know what they meant.

Married couples who work and don't choose to withhold at the single rate will owe. If one spouse has a low wage, they never have enough withheld. I wish they would let people choose a flat % instead of having to Married but withhold at higher single rate with 0 allowances and $x additional tax. That's just too complicated. I tell clients they need x% withheld and they ask me how to do that, so I send them to paycheck city or do it for them.

Got mine. Scanned it. Made it searchable. Happy camper.

If you receive a reimbursement for your moving expenses, how you report this amount and your expenses depends on whether the reimbursement is paid to you under an accountable plan or a nonaccountable plan. https://www.irs.gov/publications/p521/ar02.html#en_US_2016_publink1000203512

I watched a Drake video on their 2016 enhancements and it was quite obvious that Drake is too 'Mickey Mouse' for my clients. We just called support, left our number and they called back shortly and gave us the answer we needed. It was a 2014 efile issue.

Remember how noisy and slow dot matrix printers were? You had to have a sound chamber around them to keep your hearing. I remember going from a 4 minute per page dot matrix to a 4 page per minute laser printer. It was nirvana.

It's the first day of efiling. They're going to be swamped. Especially since so many users call support for the most minor things. If it can wait, email support or start a case online. I saw just the other day that you can fax support too.

The only way you can restore programs is if you have a disk image, but that only works if your disk just has the OS and programs on it because otherwise you lose your data. ATX made the choice to put your data and backups on the C drive. You can change that but it was not recommended to do so in ATX 2013.

Just login and fail 5 times then you'll get a prompt to reset with your installation code.
-
Just rename the extension to txt.
-
You should do a test restore of a few files. The rule is you don't have a backup until you're tried to do a restore.

Agree with Max, you should prorate based on the balances of the loans before the consolidation.

Goodbye?

They can only deduct the loss as ordinary if the business was 'operational' and yes, that's subjective. I think they can take a capital loss for it without filing a 1065.

fax number of 2848 doesn't seem to ever answer

I fax mine to Memphis CAF. Never had a problem. If I do I can schedule the fax for late at night or early in the morning.
