  1. What if the beneficiary of the trust is actually working on the farm? I see there is no place on the 1041 K1 to enter SE income, but at the 1040 level, shouldn't the beneficiary calculate SE tax if they actively worked?
  2. Keep Task Manager open and when the Server Retry occurs, see if your hard disk is maxed out at 100%. That is the most likely culprit, if it is a hardware issue. Shoot, I just checked and the Win7 task manager doesn't show hard disk usage. They added that in 8. But you can see it in Resource Manager in Win7, which you can access from a button at the bottom of Task Manager.
  3. Maybe if everyone who has this issue could post their system configurations in great detail, even including things like processor, RAM, router, etc., we might be able to discern some pattern.
  4. I can only speak for my situation: peer-to-peer network, high end computers, win 8.1, less than 400 clients. This is a nonissue for me. I think it happened once last year and I just clicked retry and I was in. In 2013, my first year with ATX, it happened maybe 5 times but was again no big deal.
  5. In my inbox this morning: Good morning Mr. Davis, Thank you for calling our attention to the Community Board posts. I will forward your email to the appropriate department. Often times, the can't connect to server message is due to a delay in the ATX service starting. Usually within a moment or so the service starts and then software can then open. However, I do appreciate your letting us know about the complaints.
  6. No, the print packets don't give you access to everything. I almost always have to rearrange the letters and cover sheets when printing a return for the first time, but I check the Remember box at the bottom so it stays right when I inevitably have to reprint the return.
  7. I never connected him with Hans Gruber until recently. That's how good of an actor he was.
  8. Yes, that's a good program. I just prefer a hands-on approach, but if this assault keeps up, I may just install that.
  9. They only appear if you have both SE health insurance and premium tax credit. They show after the Ln 29 tab on the 1040.
  10. There's a closed group we all could join. It's not very active but I'm sure we could liven it up! https://www.facebook.com/groups/827167400659499/
  11. Are you running Server 2008? We're just a Mickey Mouse peer-to-peer and haven't had this issue (yet).
  12. My 2015 fillable blank organizer with page numbers is attached. The software that makes it fillable did a poor job on both the Dependents page and the Noncash Charitable page, but overall it's pretty good. If you don't like my cover letter, delete it. Feel free to email this to new clients. 2015 Blank Organizer.pdf
  13. We say we have a $250 minimum, but a client with one W2, standard deduction, no child care, health insurance all year, no IRA, no HSA, etc., etc. would probably be $125-$150.

  15. You are correct JMovich. Procrastination pays off sometimes.
  16. Correct link: https://www.refundschedule.com/2016-irs-e-file-chart/
  17. I wonder if, now that we're expensing 2,500 tangible assets, it follows that we would also expense intangible assets. If you don't expense it, it's 15 years of amortization.
  18. We don't use that many toner cartridges anymore but these are really good prices!
  19. Are they telling you that there are separate updates for standalone installs and network installs? I don't think that's right.
  20. I watched a couple videos on David Bowie Saturday night and was saying that I need to add more Bowie songs to my playlists. Bowie always did his own thing and it was usually brilliant. RIP. Asanti!
  21. I don't think they worry about 1098Ts with 30k billed, because they know the education credits/deductions have such low limits. They probably assume, like I do, that the taxpayer definitely paid at least 4K, unless it was all paid with scholarships. It's the 1098Ts with 5K in tuition that may be claiming too much credit/deduction.
  22. In 14 & 15 they moved the location of the admin console program to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CCH Small Firm Services\ATX 2015 Admin Console\Sfs.ServerHost.AdminConsole.exe" If you can't find it on your menu.
