  1. I went through this last year. In my case, it was medically necessary and fit the requirements. Client has since passed.
  2. We fill out Schedule A for most clients because, in Wisconsin, some itemized deductions can flow through to the State forms. I don't have a problem with that. Also, I have always felt that the loss of the 2106 hurt many of my clients.
  3. Dar.......occasionally clients make qualifying contributions to their HSA over and above what is withheld from their payroll. Those clients get a credit for out of pocket contributions as long as they do not go over the maximum allowed. I have only had a few of these and it is usually in the year of retirement, but not always.
  4. No, Darlene, that is not my tax practice. What in the world would I do with $500,000? (Ha Ha). I have not idea who that might be; nor do I care. I am just so glad to be alive. Thank you for reaching out.
  5. I did have the pneumonia vaccine twice and reacted badly to both. I have had breathing issues for four years, since I was ill for 12 days, four years ago; just before Covid was a word. My hospital Doc said that I have been ill for a long time and fighting it on my own . Breathing issues for four years and it finally tried to take me out.I fought so hard to get rid of the oxygen and breathe on my own. I am pretty stubborn. To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure I could do it, but I had already purchased my tax program and had a lot of unfinished work to do. They fixed me up just fine.
  6. What is ARM? I hate to be stupid, but I hate when people use abbreviations that I don't understand. Sorry, Dennis, I respect your knowledge and I am always wanting to learn new things. TIA (HaHa)
  7. Gosh, Lee! Isn't that the pits. I hope you take care of yourself because we sure NEED you on this board. I was SO sick as well, but I fought and fought to come back and breathe on my own; and I made it. You know I am not a young chick, but I might have an older body, but my mind is young as can be and we can tell ourselves that we will be OK. Life is just so beautiful! I am praying for you.
  8. I have been on a little adventure, believe it or not. I hadn't been feeling well for a while and one morning I told my husband that I thought I needed help. Well, ER led to 7 days in the hospital (so they tell me). I had viral bronchitis and then developed bacterial pneumonia and had myself a vacation of sorts. If anyone has noticed that I have not been nosing around, that is why, but I am now home and on the way to a full recovery. Turns out that I was sick for a very long time and I guess I knew it but I just thought that was the way life was. Well, let me tell you , I have not breathed so well in years and I am back. This was my first fullish day on the computer and I am pretty tired so will keep you posted. I am so Happy to be back and Life is Wonderful. Love to each and every one of you. I had my doubts there for a while, but I don't do well with meds and they sort of messed me up while they were curing me.
  9. I faxed the information to them. They never responded.
  10. In reality, I hate their constant popups. On another note; technology is trying to drive me crazy. My landline at the cottage has been out for over a week, but, "There are no outages in your area!" Weirdly, I still have Internet, but it is almost as slow as dialup.
  11. My server errors yesterday were resolved by turning off my virus protection. I was unable to open the ATX programs. My first ever experience with support was excellent.
  12. Totally!!!!
  13. Form 982
  14. Consult your sales rep or support. I am always able to open prior years and prepare new returns for non-filers. You just cannot efile prior to 2021.

    ATX Renewal

I placed the order in May and paid the price. I know that I want the program, I will use the program and there is no room for negotiation. I got it over with and moved on. I did look at other options in the meantime, but, honestly, I really like the Max program and it has treated me well. Too many other things to worry about.
  16. The problem lies in trying to calm myself down. The client paid electronic estimates. The client thinks that I have a magic want. The one and only time I finally did reach a person; they wouldn't talk to me.
  17. That, too.........I can't afford to purchase the program and replace two perfect condition Win 10 computers in the same year; or in any year. I have my scouts out searching for alternative solutions.
  18. After Quicken 10, you have to subscribe and update each year. Honestly, I have had 6, 7 and 10 and they all work equally well. At least 10 is compatible with Win 11. Have done bookkeeping on Quicken for 30 years. You can still get the disk for 10 if you want to pay the price.
  19. If you purchase a Win 10 computer, be sure that it is at least 8th Generation. Anything prior to that cannot be safely updated to Win 11. I think they are trying to drive us crazy.
  20. I use Quicken 10 for several clients who do not have payroll. I have the disk and it just works and works without any problems.
  21. So be it! At my age, I am not as interested in value as I am in quality and the trust that my family of clients has built up over the years.
  22. I wouldn't do that. I would move forward with the 3 LLC, Sole Proprietors.
  23. So far, the ways that we have found to do it; bypass Security. Not good!
  24. Yes, that has been a consideration. However, she has nowhere to go and no equipment. I will not allow her to continue working from my office and using my equipment since it is attached to my home. She has good work ethics; is a quick learner and could move forward to being very successful in work that she loves, as I do. The present problem is that she has no location in mind yet and I am urging her to make a plan (just in case). Other preparers that I have considered selling or merging my business to, have gotten big heads and the larger they grow, the more expensive they become. I don't want that for my clients. I plan on working as long as I am able. It is definitely time for a Conversation with my Assistant.
