Anyone with success being able print a cover letter please share how you did it? I imported the template, edited and previewed it many times over but I cannot find a way to make it print. I am able to add the federal and state template without a problem and also print it, but no luck with cover letter. Any help will due. thanks

I see what you are talking about, but for some reason it doesn't flow to the clients return nor do I have the option to print. FYI you need to add some queries in order to get to appear like last year, best bet is to print a prior year cover letter and use it as a sample for 2012.

Yes first you need to request a copy of prior years of ATX program, them have the old firm export the selected clients, put them on a cd or USB drive, them import them to appropriate year. For example if you only need 2011 records, then install ATX2011 import them, then roll over to 2102. MAS

What documents did you request for him/her to support form 8867 if any? I was looking at the form, I have a similar client like yours, but it seems it's for taxpayer with kids, disable or Sch C income that qualifies them for EIC.

For client copy, first page has the taxpayer name year and on the bottom the firms name, my program is only printing what would be page 2 in prior years. Marco

Howdy, how does one print out the cover letters for federal and state letters? Can't figure this out, I am afraind I won't be albe to use 400+ tax envelopes

In the past I would install ATX as a stand alone, then I would map a drive and run Netsetup to install it on another computer. I see ATX2012 has Netsetup, however I am afraid with everything that is going on with the program, that it might not work. Has anyone had any problems installing ATX on another computer using Netsetup, I don't have a server so mapping the drive will be only way on a WIN 7 machine for me. Any tips? Thanks MAS

I think we are screwed, just notice the IDR was dated back in early 2012, the prior agent never gave us a copy, TP never received a copy nor did she ever requested information for 2007 & 2008. We dealt most of 2011 and 2012 dealing with 2006 issues, we didn't agree with the changes, requested to be sent to appeals and now we get this. This is very shady on their part, the IDR is almost a year old, and it was sent to us barely last week.

Hello Rita, try to completely shut down your PC and restart it, sometimes files remain opened in the background even though you have closed the program.

Wondering if someone here has some experience with the appeals process. TP did not agree with the IRS changes for 2006 so the case was referred to appeals, a couple of months later a new agents sends out an IDR to examine 2007 & 2008, I am wondering if this is a normal process, when 2006 has not been resolved? Also if you can point to me to some reference material, I would really apprecaited, I am doing research for my associated. Thanks MAS

Just wondering, if you installed the software as network, instead of stand alone? When you intially install it, you get two options, stand alone or network, I am asking this because I installed it as stand alone on mine, however I need to add another computer soon. I might have to reinstall it as a network? MAS

Same here, it was at 0% for the longest, I canceled it (just click on the X, hitting close doesn't do anything), then I read you can download the update from ATX website, that is I how manage to download it. I just installed it, opened a couple of test returns, printed one, it's still takes time to open a return, but it kicked me out when I clicked on update forms. MAS

I guess it was stuck on 25%, I paused it and it started downloading again and it only took 15min from 25 to 100%. Now to run the update.

I gave up on letting the program peform the download automatically, it's been now almost an hour trying to download the update from ATX website, good thing I have work to do

I don't know if this will work for 2012 but it's worth a try, install ATX2012 on the new PC, then make a copy of the database folder (old PC) and replace it the same database folder on the new PC. Or export all clients to a usb drive and then import. Both ways worked for 2011 and prior. MAS

Sometimes clients don't understand that their problems, becomes our problems and they need to fixed inorder to prepare acurate returns and there is a cost to that too Everyone here has probably had a client say, I bougth quickbooks, set it up myself and did my own accounting, it was pretty easy, well entering most of the revenue and expense to uncategorized is not accounting. I have learned my lesson from past experience and now I tell them it's going to take a approx. # hours to clean up the file and my fee is going to be between this and that, do you want for me to proceed. Now there is no confusion when I give them a bill for cleaning the file and for preparing the returns. MAS

It seems the fee you are paying is for the the enhanced payroll version, you can process up to 50 company payrolls with no limit of employees. You really don't need this if you don't do payrolls for other, they have standard version too. I had recommend Medlin to one of my client before, the program was great for the price, the only complaint the client had was they had to do all state forms by hand because the program only supported the state of California, now this was a couple of years ago, I don't if they have changed that now. Might be worth finding out. MAS
