  1. Go to the web site for the scanner manufacturer, and they may have a driver for it. If not search in google for drivers for scanners and you may find yours.
  2. Ujpgrade to SP2 your machine will run better on all applications.
  3. I have a client who collected disability payments from an insurance company, and then was accepted by SSI disability. He had to pay back the insurance company the money he received from SSI. How do I report this do I am mend 2007 or deduct from the payment received in 2008 Thank you
  4. I am trying to enter the depreciation for the home office, it takes me to the asset sheet and I enter the home office and all the information using form 8829. I guess I am missing something because it will not follow thorough to the 8829. Any ideas :scratch_head:

  7. I am trying to get form 2106 to go to line 21 of form 1040, I am not using Schedule A. Does anyone know how to do this. I can't figuer it out.
  8. If I remember correctly a few years back ATX gave its users permission to copy prior years CD's for users that neeced the prior years. I know I made quite a few copies and sent them out. If anybody needs a certain year let me know and I will gladly make them a copy.
  9. I beleive this it the Tax Refund Express (TRX), there is a whole section on this bard fpr TRX users and thpse testing the program. Go to the main lobby and you will see it down the bottom. And we will like to hear from you with your comments. I for one have already switched due to the pricing of ATX, I only do About 70 returns and cannot afford ATX any longer.
  10. - They have a very limited space for text entries. For example on the Sch D, I really had to abbreviate the stock names. The 1040X section for explanation also did not allow for as much text on each line. Occupation line and some of the address lines were also limited. I noticed on some entries if you paste the longer name it will take it for some reason. - Since it stores all the files by SSN, if you amend a return, you can't keep the original. (You can change the name in your backup). Also you can't duplicated a file if you want to run "what-if" scenarios. I would suggest you change the SSN in the backup, you canalso do it to run "what-if" scenarios. But for the price and my small business I can live with these cons as well as the other ones mentioned. Ditto on this one the "Price is Right"
  11. I asked for the 2007 version to try out and they gave me a working copy and offered to convert my 2006 client base. So I did and have been entering in some of the 2007 information to get used to the program. I figure I have all summer so I may enter all my 2007 information in for the practice. I only do about 75 returns so its not too much.
  12. How many years depreciation left on the house. I normally would use the 15 or 10 depending on the balance left on the house.
  13. When I ordered the 2008 program they gave me the 2007 verison for free, to get a good feel and get my client base converted.
  14. You would be ammazed how many programs out there that do not have uninstall features. And what is so hard about using the control panel uninstall, most of the time it does a better job on the uninstall.

    TRX

Does anyone know how to change the default zoom in TRX? What they call 100% comes out much too small for me, even on a 17" monitor. 125% looks fine.

    TRX

Well Booger you may be happy with ATX but a lot of us are not. I hope this board keeps going and is used by preparers that use ATX, TRX, Drake and any other programs out there. It will still help all with questions about tax matters that anyone may have. Having different forums for each specific tax package will be an asset for this board. Remember it is not being run by CCH, and is for all interested parties. My way of thinking there should be a seperate forum stictly for questions regarding the ATX package and hte chit chat should be for general tax questions and conversation. Just my 2 cents worth, thanks for listing
  17. I received an e-mail regarding this product. has anyone tried it or even heard of it. http://www.magicjack.com/2/?mid=304196
  18. I did not take the survey, but from seeing what others wrote about it I rejplied to their e-mail with the following "I don't beleive ATX has the gall to ask these questions of their clients. I would never disclose my personal business to anyone. Besides after what CCH has done to us how can they expect anyone to give them information. As of now take me off your mailing list, I have had it with ATX and CCH and already ordered next years tax package from some other vendor." :spaz:
  19. I switched form ATX and everything I have seen in the program I like. In a way it is like ATX where you can enter on the forms. Some entries are easier than ATX and some a little different. I love the Zip code entry so you don't have to type the city and state. It works on all the forms. Also you can print only the forms you want by setting it up as a default. The asset entry is so much easier than ATX, only a few entries, and all on one page no matter how many assets. All employers and banks and Companies are kept and all you do is type the FED ID number and it brings it up. Multiple states are a breeze compared to ATX, It calculates the NR returns from the W2 forms, all you have to do is enter the tax paid to NR states on the resident return to get the credit. And the price says it all only $299.00 + $29 shiping and handling, not like CCH $79.95 to ship 2 CD's and one book. I now have the 2007 version on my complter, and they have a automatic upgrade system, the downloads come in automatically when available, you don't have to go up and download them youself. :spaz:

    Attn Eric

Good morning Eric I was wondering if you could set up a seperate room just for TRX users or those who are interested in j TRX. As they don't have a forum of their own, and a lot of people here seem interested in the package.
  22. I have already changed to TRX and I love the print options, it lets you set the forms you want to pring for every client, unlike ATX you have to keep checking boxes every return you do. I also like the forms entry in TRX almost like ATX. I have tested TRX with my two bigest clients and it worked fine, and in about the same time it took in ATX. To clean out your registry try a registry cleaner. Go to www.majorgeeks.com they have all the programs you need to clean your registry.
  23. I have tried the TRX program, and am very happy with it. I have a small proctice and the saving of $300 to $400 is fquite a saving. The Program to me is better than ATX, and anly waited a few min to get a tech on the Tel. I have already commited to TRX and will be doing some returns this summer to get used to the program. I will post any things that I find. I did a return with multiple states and I found an error in the ATX program with the Mass. return.
  24. I have downloaded the TRX program which is for the year 2007 returns, and processed 2 returns. One had a Sch C with a home office and Sch A, went through the return in very good time fore the first return. It resembles ATX in many ways, it was simple to enter W2 forms and Interest and Dividends. The second return had multiple states and it worked better than JATX for the second state. It calculated the amount for each state from the W2. The only thing I had to do was enter the tax paid to other state for the credit on the resident state. The printing of the forms went much faster that ATX. I will be ordering this package for 2008 for sure it is a saving of about $800.00 from the MAX package. The only worry I have is the conversion, they say it will not be ready until the program comes out. But I will ask they for the 2007 conversion and try it out this summer to see if all information comes over. Any one who is interested please please mention my name when you order the package. George Marcelino George's Tax Service Thank you all and have a good summer
  25. I downloaded a copy of the 2007 package, and have done a return on it with a Sch C and Assets. I had very little trouble doing this return, and it ended with the same tax as ATX. You can use the forms entry same as ATX, makes things easier for people that have been doing taxes for a few years. It did not include the state that I needed, but that is usually not a problem. My only concerns now is if it does multiple states, I have about 10 with at least 2 states and one with 3 states, and the conversion from ATX. As for as I can see it includes 1065, 1120 and 1120S. I don't do any so I can't say anything about them. I figure if I order it early enough I will have time to check all the conversions to make sure it is all there.
