  1. I don't think so, if it is like other programs it looks for MS Excel on your computer first and not finding it you get the error. This is something to ask Ryan about to get it in the jprgram to stop looking for MS produacts.
  2. On the 'taype' tab on the left look for the PO Preparers Options form Select the print electronic signature. When the X appears hit Ctrl + D and it will set it to appear on all future returns. Do the same for print signature date.
  3. [i would like a form called preparers notes. So we can keep notes and questions needed to ask.
  4. The users of TRX PRO did not have to wait to e-file those returns, they can be e-filed and the IRS has them on hold. You ATX'ers are going to have fun trying to complete all the returns with Schedule A. I still don't understand why ATX has done this. It means that you will have to print all the 8879 forms and have the clients sign them before you can e-file them.
  5. This is my first year with TRXPRO (Red Gear) and have e-filed about 10 returns, this is by far the best setup I have ever seen. Everythig goes so smoothly, and their e-file center is just great.
  6. I have been doing this for the last 4 years, and my setup is as follows: 1. Create a directory on your hard drive called Clients or Tax info or Tax returns, or whatever you like. 2. Scan in the documents from the client, and name the file 2010 tax info, (client name) and save them the above dir with a sub dir withe the clients name. 3. Print the complete return to PDF and save it as 2010 tax return, (client name) and save it to the client name directory. This has been working for me, and whenever I need info for a client it is all in one directory. Using the year in front of the file you create makes it easier to look up information when needed.
  7. As fpr ,e I am very happy with this forum, and I did visit the Red Gear forum once earlier and there were 0 posts. I beleive that is the reason for the shutdown of it. As all of you remember the shutdown of the ATX board, well, stick to this forum as you know Eric will keep it going. The only thing I would like is for Red Gear to announce this forum on their website so their other users will use it also. Maybe then we will have a good membership of Red Gear users and get more problems resolved as they do on the ATX side of the forum. As we learn more and more about the program we will be better prepared to answer more questions. And I want to thank Ryan for his support on this forum. As a program goes I am getting to like it a lot, I just did a multi state return and the credit to the home state came through automatically which I loved. And so much for my two cents worth.
  8. You can go to 'VIEW' and 'Review without audits'
  9. When was the last time you updated your program?
  10. If you have a PDF editor program, such as Adobe, Paperport or any other one, you can put a text box over the SS# to cover it. I don't like the print sets and to print I use the preview button and print it to the printer or PDF by selecting the forms I want to print.
  11. So far my problems have been small and TRX answered my questions. But I would like to know if another forum like this is available for Red Gear software.
  12. I use TRX and have already e-filed 2 returns with schedule A. What is happening is they are going to IRS and IRS is holding them until the 14th and then will process them. I can't understand why ATX will not allow you to create the e-file. It is not the schedule A that is not accepted it is the other forms that flow into the schedule A. I don't understand why any preparer would tell clients to come back, prepare the return, print the 8829 have them sign it and e-file it when ATX finally lets you do it. A very hoppy TRX user. :D
  13. I have prepared my own return, and on the EF - E-File form I marked it as self-prepared, and the audits are all fine except when I went to print the 8829 form it was not there. Do you have to complete a form 8829 for a self prepared return? Also has anyone tried to do a non paid return. The one time I tried I got an error.

    SCH C

Can I suggest using a long sch C and not the EZ. I have done one and it works.
  15. I am not a computer genius, but to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit, which I have running perfectly, you have to install all programs as new ones. Transferring them from an older version of windows will only create problems. I have ATX from 02 to 08 running on win 7 64 bit with no problems, had to install each seperatly.
  16. Try this website http://www.acatcredentials.org/credentials/ATP.htm
  17. By the way these prices were based on me entering my CT zip code. I would guess that other areas would be either higher or lower. Also if I am correct they charge extra for extra W2 forms, extra dependents, extra dividend statements and any other extras they can get.
  18. Attached is an estimate from H & R Block online http://www.hrblock.com/taxes/doing_my_taxes/price_estimator.html BLOCK ESTIMATE.pdf
  19. I did my first one yesterday, and e-filed it without any help from support. It was a simple return, and it went well. I e-filed it, and got an ack already from the federal and they sent the state on to the state.. I love the e-file manager, it shows quite a bit of information. I like different items that it makes you enter the numbers twice for verification. I still don't get the hang of printing the different sets.
  20. I just received an e-mail offering Peachtree Complete Accounting 2010 for only $24.95. This is a steal for anyone looking for an excellent accounting package. Go to http://store.purplus.net/pecoac20.html This is a legit company. Happy new year
  21. This is a web site that all on this board should have bookmarked on their computer. This is by far the best site on the web if you ever have a virus or problem with anything on your computer, including hardware and software. I had 2 viruses on my computer, one was the redirect virus and the other was opening up web pages at random. I was told about this site and went to it and was able to get answers to my problems. I also read other posts and got a lot of good information from them. the url is http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ Happy New Year
  22. Terry I was also a ATX customer since the beginning, and left for better pastures. I had the same problem, and I remember when jATX would allow the user to make copies of the CD's and give them to other users along with the codes. Someone was kind enough to give me their code to use. Unfortunately I have only 1040 for 2004 or I would give you mine. I hope by now someone was kind enough to you. If you want to use TaxWise you can download it from the TRX site along with the codes. By the way Merry Christmas to all.
