  1. I'M JUMPING SHIP I CANNOT STAND THIS PROGRAM NO LONGER I WAS PROMISED TAXWORKS BY RED GEAR AND GOT DUMPED A VERY INFERIOR PRODUCT. I WILL BE NOTIFYING THE BBB! I WISH ALL OF YOU GOOD LUCK, YOU WILL NEED IT. :wall: :wall: :wall:
  2. I was up on the ATXINC.com website, and went to contact us. Used their e-mail address listed, and got the following e-mail back. Your message Subject: Info needed was not delivered to: [email protected] because: User sales ([email protected]) not listed in Domino Directory How can they have an eronnous e-mail address on their website?
  3. Can anyone tell me if ATX is working for the 1040 only. I do only 1040's with state returns using Sch A, C, D, E, EIC, form 8829 and 2106. As of now TRX is driving everyone crazy, and I hate the way they have organized the workspace to enter information. The program was designed by someone who has no knoledge of preparing taxes. I read in this forum that ATX has changed their look, but I imagen that the program works the same as jprevious years so I will not have a big learning curve. Any information will be appreciated. jThank you in advance
  4. I have Adobe Acrobat 8 which I have always used to open a previous year return. I have done this with ATX, Taxwise and Redgear, now I am trying to use it with TRX and it keeps bombing out. Could this be that taxexact is hoging too much memory and I cannot get Acrobat to work properly. I have a 4 kGB ,acjome and everutjomg e;se wprls k[rp[er;u/ I also have PaperPort open at the same time. Right about now I am seriously thinking about jumping ship.
  5. I was not able to bring forward my clients through the proformer, TRS had to do this for me. And they are still trying to get my biggest client to come forward. They did not get tje e,[;puers fprward/ O jave troed tp p[em a retirm amd emter tje EON and nothing happens.
  6. To Doug I don't understand how anyone can be satisfied with this program even it works properly. I am glad I have only a few returns with depreciation. The depreciation forms are horrible, and the description in the tree should read what the property is not numbered 1, 2, 3 ect. I have a return with 15 different items and you have to open each one to find the one you want to make adjustments. Whoever designed this program had no idea what they were doing. I cannot even find a depreciation report of all the items. And the idea of using all the space on the screen is horrible. I have a wide screen and cannot utilize it with this program. I am still waiting for someone to bring the employer database forward for me because the proforma will not work on my computer. Not a happy camper.
  7. Any one here from the Norwich, CT area, please contact me at [email protected] thank you
  8. has anyone been able to pring a depreciation summary. Every time I try and hit print nothing happens.
  9. I also never liked Norton, I have used Avast for the past 3 years and have had zero problems.
  10. WHERE DID YOU PEOPLE DOWNLOAD THE STATES, I CAN NO GET ANY STATES TO SHOW UP NOR CAN I FIND WHERE TO DOWNLOAD THEM.
  11. If you notice since CCh took ATX over every year they take something out of the program and then charge extra for it. This will happen every year as long as they have customers that will pay for the extras. I am glad I brook away when I did. Sure I have had to learn new programs every 2 yers but I think it is worth it cause I have most of the bells and whistles built into the program instead of them being removed.
  12. I have gone through the whole process of updating. TRX was in my computer and they could not get it to work. They had to take my datbase form last year and get me the clients and download it back to my computer. Only problem was they are missing 10 clients.
  13. WHO EVER DESIGNED THE NEW TRX SOFTWARE, SEEMS TO HAVE NO INSIGHT AS HOW TO MAKE THE PROGRAM USER FRIENDLY. I HAVE JUST OPENED A RETURN WITH QUITE A FEW ADDETS, AND IT IS A SHAME THAT YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SHEET THEY HAVE DESIGNED. AFTER WORKING FOR YEARS WITH ATX AND REDGEAR SOFTWARE THIS IS LIKE A PIECE OF JUNK. (ONLY MY OPINON OF COURSE) ALSO THE FACT THAT THE PRINTING ON THE ENTRY SHEETS IS SMALL AND WHEN YOU GO TO PEEK THE PRINT IS SOO LARGE THAT YOU HAVE TO OPEN THE FORM TO BE ABLE TO READ IT, WITH NO ADJUSTMENTS AVAILABLE. PS: HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE HAD TO HAVE TRX ROLL OVER YOUR CLIENTS BECAUSE THE CONVERSION PROGRAM DOES NOT WORK.
  14. I signed up with taxWise a few years ago, and had big problems with them. I had to ask for my money back. Then a couple of years ago TRX was supplying TaxWise and I used it. I had a few problems with it but worked through it. The problem with TaxWise is they never add new features to help the preparer. I dont know what has happened since CCH purchased them.
  15. IRS States Refunds Will Be Delayed and Refund Cycle Chart Discontinued “When can I expect to receive my refund?” is the most frequently asked question of a tax preparer. This year your tax preparer may not be able to give you an answer. The IRS is not producing a 2013 IRS e-file refund cycle chart for tax preparers to answer the question. The commonly used chart has been discontinued and Publication 2043 has been dramatically revised due to IRS uncertainty about issuing refunds. The IRS states “In a change from previous filing seasons, taxpayers won’t get an estimated refund date right away.” From a customer service standpoint, this presents a problem in managing your clients expectations. The IRS states that “most taxpayers will have their refunds within 23 days”, a significant delay from recent years. The delay in issuing refunds is due to a new processing method with an emphasis on fraud. The IRS’s new processing method includes multiple fraud checks based on the information in your tax return. Tax returns will be analyzed for what the IRS calls “Incoming transactions” and placed in a different category for funding. The IRS has not stated what denotes an incoming transaction but it could be anything from a change in dependents to a change in address. “The IRS has fraud filters built into their new system and they don’t truly know what category the tax returns will fall into based on the filters in place at the time of review and how many returns are going to be delayed. Those filters could change throughout the tax season” says Joseph Mahaffey, CPA. “The IRS’s priority has shifted from getting you your refund quickly to fraud prevention and identity theft.” Tax preparer advocacy groups are displeased with the lack of information available to them by the IRS. The National Association of Registered Tax Return Preparers believes the taxpayer needs to know when to expect a refund and has taken action to provide NARTRP members with an answer. Based on extensive research of IRS and TIGTA reports of the new processing system, they have developed their own refund cycle chart to provide refund dates. President of the NARTRP, Andy Carter, remarks, “We think the IRS should not keep the tax preparer in the dark. Giving your client a date to put on the calendar is an important service provided by the tax preparer. A refund date manages your client’s expectations and prevents premature follow-up calls. We believe our refund cycle chart can accurately predict most refund dates.”

  18. I have some old pdf files that were scanned in about 4 or 5 years ago, and have tried Acrobat 8, reader 10, and Nitro reader, and none of them can open the files. Has anyone ever had this problem, and how did you fix it? Are ther any programs that will read the files and fix them? TIA

  20. OK and thank you for the information. Two move questions, being new to the CPE, how does it work? Does the company offering the CPE report it to the IRS so they will know how many credits you have, or do you have to keep a record and report it yourself? Where do I go for the test, or is it online? Thank you very much for all your help.
  21. I am from the old school, did 50 to 60 returns by hand and it was in a fishing city, where some people have 15 to 30 W2 forms and I worked full time as well. When I diden't know something you have to go reading or advise a client to go to a well qualified CPA for the one year. This worked out a few times, they went and came back to me the following year. To day it is a lot easier with the internet, you need a pub for the IRS you download it, back then you had to order the package X and the pubs from the IRS you had to have a lot of office space , today its just a computer and a printer and your all set. CPEE was unheard of back then.
  22. I will be renewing at the reduced price, I cannot afford to pay the ATX price doing only 55 returns. I cannot complain about the program, I found it excellent for my clients, I have 5 or 6 multi state returns and it is the best I have ever used for multi state. As far as the test, I thought I read that you will have to pass it by Dec 31, 2012.
  23. Thre's lots of free CPE out there Where do I find all the free CPE? How many credits will I need?
