  1. Installed the .Net yesterday. Did not notice any improvement. Want to the "other" board this morning and someone had posted how to really install it. Seems I had not installed it properly. Right clicked on the icon, ran it as administrator, went up MS updates & installed the 4 updates. Oh my my, but my system is flying. One of the blessings of this dismall ATX season is getting all the hardware and software up to date and working in the 21st century. It feels good!
  2. He installed Chrome on the ocmputer but I have not had an opportunity to look at it. May just change but that is a hard thing to do in my neck of the woods -- changing from MS.
  3. Eric, I am still having my problems with posting. After our last PM's, I had my IT guy look at my IE9. He tweaked a few things but I am still getting the posting error. Always on the first post.
  4. And I believe that most of us really try to find an answer to our problem first before jumping on this board or the other board to berate ATX or the Pope or whoever for making the software different this year. Some of the questions on the other board could have easily been answered by the poster if they had simply looked at the manual or help or gone ahead and clicked on a button to see what it would do. imho Maribeth
  5. I think you will have to put the information also on the vehicle mileage tab on the asset itself in the fixed asset section. I do not believe it will populate coming from the Schedule C itself. Then the worksheet will actually be Page 2 of the form 4562 and not a separate schedule.
  6. Joan, when you uncheck the print packets, does the print manager then default to what it assumes needs to be printed and then you can check/uncheck to get to your preferred pages? Or does it just come up all empty boxes so that you have to choose everything you want to print. I have done so much work in the print packets and the communication manager that I don't want to lose all of that work by unchecking the print packets at this point.
  7. Bob, not using Vipre. However, I was using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malaware. When all of this mess started, my IT guy came over, deleted the above software, installed AVG. The speed improved dramatically!
  8. Why, thank you Sweet Tom. I believe I am starting to blush . . . . .
  9. Open up the engagement letter in the communications manager, hit the preview button. Then you can copy the letter and paste into Word. Much faster than having to print out of ATX. Maribeth
  10. Rita dear, I believe the term is WTF. :)
  11. Yes, both the 1099's and the 1096 are efiled. Maribeth
  12. Did a bulk disposition yesterday on a corporate client. Had no problems. 4797 populated fine. Maybe reboot?? Maribeth
  13. Now that I have a super-duper computer (as RitaB would say), I have noticed that all my programs are running faster ....... except for ATX. ATX still loads slowly, but once in a return, it does move quickly. ATX still opens a return for the first time slowly. But after that, it is much better. ATX still crashes occasionally. But deleting the Assets file will fix that. There are other quirks that we have learned to work around. The 4562 does not print, no matter what I put in the print manager, in the print options, no matter what. The return manager does not always hold the status of a return over the network. Fixed Asset Manager and ATX still do not have a stable link and not all of the current year assets that have been put into FAM are carried over to ATX. I keep thinking I am going to uninstall FAM and just say "to hell with it" but I haven't done so yet. We'll see. I will be looking at other software after tax season. But that doesn't mean I am going to change. I have a friend that uses Lacerte and her cost was $7000 last year. I can't afford that. Maribeth
  14. Yes! And he kept the old drives to use for a daily backup at noon on all 3 computers so we have that backup in addition to our full-system backup on Thursday and our daily data backups that we take home with us. So I am rather pleased about the whole thing! Maribeth
  15. My IT guy used a new backup utility, EaseUS, and just restored the whole drive onto the new SSD's. No reinstalling anything. The ONLY software that had a problem with this was QB and I had to put the registration codes back in before QB would start. Took about 2 hours to get 3 computers done and backup working again. Maribeth
  16. Just got the last of the computer upgrades this week. Now have SSD's to go with the Win7, 8G Ram, quad core machines. Everything is flying now. Very fast. EXCEPT for rolling over a return and the intial opening of that return. Once that is done, it all flies. Have to check each & every return to make sure what should be on the return is on the return. That's not difficult as the checking is built into our review procedures so I believe we are catching it all. Gonna stay with ATX for this year. Will not prepay in May. Will make a decision to change or stay after the season is over. Maribeth
  17. Another thing I have noticed is that sometimes the deprecition is there but it isn't showing. I close the return, then reopen, and the depreciation is now populated in the return. This has especially happened with corporate returns. Maribeth
  18. I have been getting emails through the season. Maybe you do have to sign up again. I did not but it appears they might have dropped you. This happens. I am a season ticket holder for my city's minor league baseball team. Have been for over 20 years. Got dropped off their email list at the beginning of this year and had to call my account exec to get back on the list. It happens . . . . . Maribeth
  19. Having the same problem and it is a pain in the ass. The 4562 does not populate with the depreciation amount even though the depreciation is on Page 1. I print the return to Fine Print, close the return, open the return, and then print just the 4562/4562AMT. Even with the print packets customized to always print 4562 and the options checked to always print 4562 and related statements, the 4562 does not print. I hope that this is a problem that will be fixed in the future. As for now, for all entity returns, I am reviewing 2011 returns and comparing them to 2012 printed returns to make sure all the schedules and supporting worksheets and/or forms are in the 2012 return. Maribeth
  20. Have you set up your print packets so that the 4562 & depreciation schedules always print? Maribeth
  21. I have a huge binder. I file all the 8879's in the binder alphabetically. Keep that binder for 3 years until 10/15, then shred the 8879's and use the binder for the following year. Any other documents/workpapers/etc are kept in the client file. Maribeth
  22. Did you set up your users on the server before running netsetup. That might be part of the problem. Maribeth
  23. I noticed in looking through the backup file that ATAX2012 has darn near every client we have ever had sitting there in the backup file. So my assumption is that EVERYTHING got rolled over into the new version and that it is going to be up to us to start to clear some of that old junk out. I have clients in the backup file that I have not worked on for over 5 years. Maribeth
  24. Don't know if it is quite on point, but I received an error message regarding FAM with buttons "Cancel" and "Retry". I had been cancelling and getting kicked out. This morning I tried "Retry" and got into the return. Maribeth
