NT - Proud parent

I am so proud I had to share (since this time of year, this board is basically a second family). My daughter who is atending Kent State University (and is in the honors college) made the Dean's list with a 3.72 gpa (5 A's and 1 B)....she was taking 20 credit hours (12 is full-time)....It makes the stress and tight budget worth it

I hate smart people! :) Really, though, congratulations to her and you! You might want to counsel her a little (yea, like that is going to happen - a parent counsel his/her college child :) ) about the tolls that pace will take. Way back when I was young and stupid, I was taking a full college load (whatever that was at the time), working from four in the afternoon to three in the morning in a factory seven days a week, and I was three months into my new marriage. Tell her to take time to stop and smell the roses. Well, there probably aren't too many roses in Kent right now, but you get the drift. Oh, and BTW, the school I was attending at that time - Kent State University. Go Golden Flashes!!

Hey JB...Good for her and congratulations to you as you raised her partly on your own. Sounds like you did a fine job. Yes, we are your family!

Way to go! I know she makes you proud. I took 18 hours most every semester for the same reason, to get the most for the money, which was hard while raising 3 little kids. Hubby took 15. We both worked a work/study job, and he worked another job as well. But the semester I took 21 hours so that I could graduate early almost killed me!

I talked her down this semester. She had originally received special permission for and scheduled 22 hours....in addition to doing youth mentoring at a local elementary school once a week and childcare 4 hours each week at a local church.

I warned her about the burn-out factor, and she dropped one big class to go down to 18 hours.

Now she has an interview monday for a part-time job on campus (15 hours/week)

JB, that is incredible. You should be proud, and keep posting about her.

20 units, OMG. I took 18 one semester and it dang near killed me. I know personally how hard that is (I graduated Fresno State with a 3.78) and until you put the effort in to make that kind of GPA happen, you don't really know how hard it is. Please tell your daughter we are very impressed.

Thanks for letting us in on your daughter's accomplishments.
