Janitor Bob
I am so proud I had to share (since this time of year, this board is basically a second family). My daughter who is atending Kent State University (and is in the honors college) made the Dean's list with a 3.72 gpa (5 A's and 1 ....she was taking 20 credit hours (12 is full-time)....It makes the stress and tight budget worth it
Kea
Congrats. 20 hours is amazing. Back in the day I took 15 hours most semesters and only managed to have time for ~3 hours sleep per night! So with taking 20 hours, I guess she was running on negative sleep time? NECPA in NEBRASKA
That is wonderful! I can't imagine taking 20 hours and doing so well. Congratulations to your family.
rfassett
I hate smart people! Really, though, congratulations to her and you! You might want to counsel her a little (yea, like that is going to happen - a parent counsel his/her college child ) about the tolls that pace will take. Way back when I was young and stupid, I was taking a full college load (whatever that was at the time), working from four in the afternoon to three in the morning in a factory seven days a week, and I was three months into my new marriage. Tell her to take time to stop and smell the roses. Well, there probably aren't too many roses in Kent right now, but you get the drift. Oh, and BTW, the school I was attending at that time - Kent State University. Go Golden Flashes!!

Sounds like you did a fine job. Yes, we are your family!
kcjenkins
Way to go! I know she makes you proud. I took 18 hours most every semester for the same reason, to get the most for the money, which was hard while raising 3 little kids. Hubby took 15. We both worked a work/study job, and he worked another job as well. But the semester I took 21 hours so that I could graduate early almost killed me! Gail in Virginia
That is amazing, JB! I don't blame you for being proud of her - that is quite an accomplishment! I hope she continues to do well, and can have some fun along the way.

Oh, and BTW, the school I was attending at that time - Kent State University. Go Golden Flashes!! I talked her down this semester. She had originally received special permission for and scheduled 22 hours....in addition to doing youth mentoring at a local elementary school once a week and childcare 4 hours each week at a local church. I warned her about the burn-out factor, and she dropped one big class to go down to 18 hours. Now she has an interview monday for a part-time job on campus (15 hours/week)
Catherine
Congratulations to your daughter! You are right to be very proud of her. But tell her not to do any MORE -- she'll use up her lifetime supply of all-nighter's before she's out of college - and THEN what will she do when she has kids?!?! (Ask me how I know that can happen.....)
BulldogTom
JB, that is incredible. You should be proud, and keep posting about her. 20 units, OMG. I took 18 one semester and it dang near killed me. I know personally how hard that is (I graduated Fresno State with a 3.78) and until you put the effort in to make that kind of GPA happen, you don't really know how hard it is. Please tell your daughter we are very impressed. Thanks for letting us in on your daughter's accomplishments. Tom Lodi, CA
Margaret CPA in OH
Thanks for sharing this great news with your electronic family. As noted above, this is the outcome of much dedication and very hard work by your daughter and all of her support system, mainly YOU! Do let her know this extended family is about as proud of her as you are. Be sure to hug her often.
MargaretMort
I am glad you put this in because I had been wondering how your daughter is doing. I don't blame you for bragging. She is doing a wonderful job, just don't let her burn out. I was exhausted just reading about her school load. Congratulations to both of you. bstaxes
Congratulations to both of you. Those extra credit each semester are tough. I was on tri-semester and took 15-17 credit each time. The college only wanted you to take 10-12 at the most. It was tough but well worth it. Again JB the best. She seems determined to do her best.
