On Friday, the IRS updated its page on health care reporting requirements to inform taxpayers and tax practitioners that it will not accept electronically filed 2017 individual income tax returns unless taxpayers indicate that they and everyone on their return had health care coverage, qualified for an exemption from coverage, or will make a shared-responsibility payment (under Sec. 5000A). The IRS also said that any returns filed on paper that do not address the health coverage requirements may be suspended until the Service receives additional information, and any refund due may be delayed.

I'd be wary of disabling auto updates. At least make sure security updates come through. On my machines with Windows 7, I chose only "critical" updates. These are usually security patches. I don't need the ones that "enhance your gaming experience."
I just checked the news on KRACK attacks on Wi FI transmissions.
All operating systems i.e., MacOS, IOS, Windows, Android and Linux are vulnerable.
Android and Linux supposedly are the most vulnerable.
Google is not going to release the first patches until November 6th.
Be safe, minimize your use of Wi Fi in the meantime !
Good question. I've been using Bit Locker on my 8.1 machine. But I have my laptop (8.1) encrypted with Symantec. I have the Symantec software on my office machine. I like their shredding function of files.
Regarding the encryption, are you saying anyone with Win 10 should not use Symantec Disc Encryption (I think this is the old PGP)? Is anyone else using Symantec Disc Encryption with Win 10? Are you using Bit Locker? I have a Win 8.1 machine using Bit Locker. I asked Symantec when I first purchased my 8.1 and they said they weren't ready for my HD model.
Anyone using Win 10 with Bit Locker having trouble with updates? I'm thinking of getting a new computer soon with Win 10 so I am interested in any problems.
If you google "Windows Autoupdate" you will find more than one or two sites that will lead you through the process.
It takes a bit more work than just unchecking a box.
Not so. I have Windows 10 Pro and all I can do is pause the update, and that is not indefinitely. If you can block updates please tell me how! Every time a major one comes I end up with something else broke. Also a note to any who may be running Symantec Disc Encryption software, Windows 10 will not be able to do any major update with the hard drive encrypted. I have had my hard drive encrypted using Symantec and I kid you not, on the last update to the creator edition it locked my computer down so tight it cost me $450.00 to get it usable again. Finally updated to the Creator version last week and now I have a printing issue as a result. Some programs, not all will not print unless I go and find a dll file and end it in the task master. It has been a royal pain and now another one is coming tomorrow? I haven't recovered from the last.
No, I never have either. I can tell you that when one of my corp clients called the state to inquire about a refund that was due for that year that included a 3115 for the 481 adjustments due to the repair regs, and was told that the delay was because the client had filed corrected returns. I don't think the state knew what to do with all of that extra information, and I could just picture the poor person that had to wade through it.
Yes, everyone should be on hardwired access.
Interestingly, when I googled to find more information about the Windows update that is scheduled for tomorrow, I also found articles about Microsoft issuing an emergency update today that already shut down this KRACK attack on systems running any of their OS that are still supported.
I can't see what is coming in yet, but I can tell you that my system is receiving some update now.
Haha, that's funny because we don't operate like that around here and some members haven't even visited or read the post yet. You'll have to get used to us being overly generous with advice and the fact that we do continue to discuss topics and offer opinions on subjects that interest us even if the original poster has received valid answers. It only ends when the last member who wants to comment has done so. Beside, I made some .
IMO, I'd want to document the amount of repairs and decide if what your client is doing is actually a rehab. If they decided to do a significant rehab of the property, a temporary stoppage is normal and capitalize the rehab expenses.
If what they did was drag a small repair job out for 16 months - that's not really applicable. The IRS would IMO want proof they are actually actively managing the property as a rental business.
Years ago, I used to buy paper at Costco. It's just not worth it due to jams etc.
Especially, since Staples and Office Depot have name brand high quality paper on sale constantly. No more jams or feeding problems
