  1. None of my clients will be in until then either, and those are the easier ones. I do have my own corporation tied in and prepared. I haven't efiled it yet though.
  2. Any of the browsers can be tried. SSA doesn't tell you not to use any particular one. There were configuration and troubleshooting issues mentioned in the troubleshooting and FAQs pages of SSAs site for each of the browsers and how to fix settings if certain errors occurred. If you were able to download it, you should be good. My W-2 is always the first one I test, and it is working for me. I did get an informational-only error saying the transmitter's EIN and the payer's EIN were an exact match, and that was OK to process if that was my actual intent.
  3. If I gave the heave-ho to every client that didn't listen or follow through with my advice over the years, I wouldn't have too many clients left. Did the sole prop have other employees or did she put herself on payroll? Besides "the banker said...", are there any real benefits to her being an S corp?
  4. If by "here" you mean in the case of IE11 being able to detect that the latest version of Java is on the machine, that won't work. It isn't a compatibility issue with IE11 interacting with a web page, IE11 is not recognizing that Java is installed and enabled.
  5. If you only need a small quantity, you might try somewhere like Quill, Staples or Office Max. You can search their sites and view them online. Of course, places like Nelco have them too. I've never printed from the SSA's site, so I'm not sure which layout is printed. Here's Quill: http://www.quill.com/search?keywords=w2+envelopes&x=0&y=0 I see KC posted those other links while I was looking up Quill. Looks like you have plenty to choose from.
  6. Here's a link to an ATX training video on e-filing that explains the process. The explanation of the specific part of e-filing that you've asked about starts at about the 3 minute mark and the reason ATX defaults to the "held" status is also explained in the video starting just before the 4 minute mark. Having the states "held" until the fed approves the e-filing is the default selection that is found under Preferences and clicking on the E-file section in that area. As KC said, this is a good way to handle the efiling and the reason ATX has set this as the default method. http://www.youtube.com/embed/khADB8ILrGk?rel=0?rel=0&showinfo=0&autoplay=1 This video and other training videos are located at MyATX and from there by selecting "Education Library" that is the last selection in the very left-hand column. You don't need to be logged in to view them.
  7. So then you haven't tried to download accuwage yet? You might be ok using IE10, but I'll tell you that the SSA rep I spoke with said that anyone with Win 7 and with IE9 or higher might have the same problem this year that I did with the Java intercepting page popping up. It might work for you and it might not. Also, SSA recommends that you uninstall all previous year versions of accuwage before you begin the current year's download, and the SSA site will require that your Java is up to date. If you try to download Accuwage 2013 with an older version of Java, it will pop up the intercepting page with a click button that will take you to Java's site to get the latest version. You won't be able to get Accuwage until you complete this step no matter what internet browser you are using. That's where I was stuck, and I did have the most recent Java. I could see the latest version of Java was installed by looking at my control panel, and I could test that on Java's site also. Someone on another forum provided me with a link to a www.whatismybrowser.com that easily and clearly told me that Java was not being detected even though I could also see that all of it was "enabled" in my add-ons list. If anyone else running Internet Explorer has this problem and can't easily resolve the problem and you have another browser or are willing to download one, do that instead of being frustrated or wasting all of the time that I did over this little Accuwage program! It would be easier if SSA allowed the upload of the W-2 file to their site to run Accuwage on there, and then to continue on with the filing and processing if no errors were found. I guess that would be too simple and logical for a government site to work that way!
  8. Deb is correct. Restore your 2012 returns using the 2012 program. When you are ready to rollover the returns, open the 2013 program and click on Rollover Manager where a list of returns should be shown. From that list, you will choose the return(s) that you want to rollover from 2012.
  9. I'm glad it helped and saved you the frustration I went through trying to make things work. I'm going to change the title of the topic to be more descriptive of my troubles with the download. Maybe it will help others too.
  10. TAG, are you asking about OH, PA, or some other states too? This is a good example of why it may be beneficial to update your profile to indicate your resident state. Your state will then show up under the avatar in each post you make.
  11. Thanks, Jack and Pacun. I contacted him last night by several PMs. I have already explained that our site is for pros, that we choose not to help the general public and why. I also gave him the direct telephone number for ATX customers that purchase on a PPR basis (ATX calls it PRS) and instructions again on where and how to access the official forum.
  12. From ATX Knowledgebase, this answers non-supported installations:
  13. Vincent, I sent you a PM.
  14. Kruskal/Vincent, I agree with Jack. You should be using the official forum to pose your questions and problems, or contact customer support.
  15. You are welcome.
  16. The amount shown on the W-2 does not need to be separated. The federal taxable wages have already been reduced by the employee's contributions, so your client is already receiving the tax benefit of those contributions. He does not receive an additional deduction on the 1040 page 1 unless he also made contributions directly to his HSA from personal funds outside of what he contributed through payroll deductions. In your example, the 8889 should be - line 2 should be blank unless taxpayer contributed after-tax dollars line 3 6450. line 9, enter full amount of 3406 from the W-2 line 13 , zero unless t/p also contributed after-tax dollars beyond what was contrib'd through payroll
  17. Redux, thanks I did find that and got it working. My problem appeared to be in that Advanced section it was showing that the minimum font was set to "none". I've increased that and most pages appear larger now.
  18. Don, thanks for the tip. I haven't been on Morningstar's site to update my portfolio yet; I'll save myself aggravation and log on there through Firefox.
  19. I've had issues with IE11 being compatible with some sites. My dental insurance provider's site would not let me pay my bill using v 11, and had a pop-up box that showed up as soon and the page loaded. It would not work even using compatibility view. My comcast homepage works properly, but its email page showed the email list somewhat scrambled. Compatibility view does allow that to appear normally. ETA - add rightsourcerx.com to the list that doesn't like IE11. Logged in and couldn't get past the screen where I'd acknowledged that I'd read and agreed to the TOS. Some of us here using IE11 had problems back in early- to mid-December on this forum when the copy/paste functions and some of the formatting functions weren't working properly. Do you remember that Jack, where it seems you were having those problems also, and where Eric put some workarounds in place? :
  20. I always added a column the return manager and made brief notes there. If it was only one or two items I put the details there. If much more detail was needed, I'd enter "waiting on info" and the notes of unresolved matters or missing information would be with the client's file and source docs. I also used 2 other columns in return manager with info about e-files. One was for the status of those e-files through the system with brief notes like "wait'g on sig forms", "sent/acks?", "complete". The other e-file column I used in return manager was to indicate what returns were or were not e-filed with the column heading of "Efile Y/N". Entries were something like "Y-Fed & DE", "Y-Fed, Y-DE, N-PA" , "None". I wanted to see the status of everything in the return manager. Returns were not marked as "complete" until out the door, e-filed, AND backed up. If anything still required any action on my part, it was not marked complete.
  21. I found all of that last night and increased the font from 16 to 30. It is not working. Firefox IS remembering the pages that I've increased by scrolling, but any new page I visit is tiny, smaller than IE set at 100%. The only site that I've found where that setting actually made any difference is craigslist which is mostly text. ETA - I think I found it. In that same section and clicking the Advanced button, the next screen was showing that the minimum font was set to "none". I've increased that and most pages appear larger now. Thanks, all.
  22. Pacun, I did all of that and more. The first thing I did in the entire process was to uninstall everything related to Java and prior year accuwage. The accuwage link would take me to Java and allow the download. Every piece of required Java was on my computer and was verified through the Java site that it was UTD. All components in IE were "enabled". Scripting and proxy settings were correct, and anything else that was mentioned in their guides. When I went back to accuwage, I would get to the "you must download Java" intercepting page and could not go beyond that point. I also verified that the jnlp had the proper association with the web browser to launch it, many other settings were checked. Please believe me, nothing worked. I considered skipping the accuwage step altogether and just filing the W-2s. The SSA rep did say that if I did that, I could call in if any errors were found that stopped their processing and they could tell me what the problem was over the phone. Bottom line, I have Firefox and now have the accuwage.
  23. Just as you should be, Jack.
  24. I'll take your word for the SSA problems, but whatever the problem was, I simply could not get accuwage until I switched to a different browser. I'm stubborn (ha, guess I didn't need to say that) and did not want to download anything else; I tried to make it work and couldn't. I wasted too much time on it and had to find another way. Did your son do the work on Sylvan's site?
  25. I've come across a handful of sites so far that don't like IE11. I've managed to work around those so far; maybe I'll try Firefox for those.
