  1. I raise mine every year, how much varies by client, but I find it easier to raise each year.
  2. I'm inland from Los Angeles about 30 miles. This area really is desert, so watering is necessary, plus most of the homes here have the 'Marathon" sod that stays fairly green all year. At least our whole neighborhood has the same problem. As KC states, there is a difference between dormant and dead!
  3. The only things turning color here are our lawns! Mandatory water reductions, we can only water 2 days a week.
  4. High today through Saturday here in So. Calif forecasted around 100.
  5. I would use Win 7 Pro, Win 8.1 seems to work ok, based on some other comments, but there may some interface differences that you might not like. My new computer has Win 7 Pro and I'm quite happy with it. I recommend you have an SSD installed too. Boot times are fantastic.
  6. I got the same error adding the form. (I just tried this on one return)
  7. Jack, you're a real optimist!
  8. I had a similar problem with an anti-virus program doing some kind of background downloads or something. The computer would just slow to a crawl until it finished. Maybe something like that is happening on your system. On my new computer (quad-core with SSD) I haven't had any speed issues.

  10. I went to a practice management seminar many years ago with my father, (he was an accountant, I started taxes working for him). One statement made my one of the presenters really stuck with me. "If you do professional work, charge a professional fee".
  11. Enter the total in box 1 in the interest input sheet, then in in the box just below - adjustment to box 1, enter the amount to the nominee, and in the code box next to it select code 'N' nominee, it will subtract that amount on Sch B. (I'm assuming you use ATX)
  12. With the return open, and the cursor in the signature line, go to the edit menu and you'll see 'insert text', this will open a dialog box, type in the text you want. You can select the font size etc. The box can be moved and sized.
  13. How the hell did my photo get on the internet?
  14. Installed the 14.6 update last night, so far no issues.
  15. Terry, I think you mean form 706, not the 1041.
  16. And then they take out more from their 401(k) to pay the tax..
  17. Some of the ones I see have 'Various' as country, and I cant find a date when paid. I do exactly as you state - use "other country" and 12/31/14 as the date.

  19. Just like arguing with my wife - I never admit wrongdoing, but it doesn't change the nature of the punishment.
  20. Here in CA the ADP W-2 box 14 amounts (mostly for CA SDI) are the smallest font available it seems. Glad I'm not the only one with a magnifier in my desk drawer.
  21. In return manager there's a vertical bar with 4 dots at the very top of the column that functions like the freeze pane divider in Excel. To make the name field longer move that divider to the right of another field - such as the complete field with the boxes. Then you should be able to make the field wider by putting your cursor over the right side of the very top of the field and slide the divider to the right. (Hope this makes sense)
  22. When I think of TPR Survival kit, I think of several cases of good single malt.
  23. Some items could be, the very large tool boxes, for example. My BIL mechanic purchased a diagnostic scanner which was around 4,000.
  24. Brand new computer system this season with SSD. So far no problems with ATX, and I'm not getting the 'server' error with 2014 or 2013.
