  1. That is a darn good suggestion concerning deposit information. Haven't had the time when I failed to enter that information. But your suggestion is a fine one.
  2. I believe the two lines you are referring to are for Main Taxpayer and Spouse; in both full year and part year. The five lines for NR are for up to 5 different states. If tp has more than 5 states I dont know what you do--perhaps call TRX and hope you get someone who knows the software. You are in the same situation as in Florida. We have no state income tax but often have people from other states. Good luck on this. For PY youneed tofigure the number of days client lived in each state. A word of caution be sure that client will not want to file PY for a second year. That is only for the year in which the residency changes.
  3. Yes, but dont expect a quick reponse there either. Not many people are using the TRX Message Board. It has not been publicized very much. I still use it for TW questions but for more general tax questions you can't beat theMessage Board forTaxBook.
  4. There is a privacy letter in the list of letters. You can get it to download if Edit Forms Default so that every return includes it.
  5. I agree. I had a preparer request dep schs for a previous client. I told him the client could picke them up at my place. Case resolved.
  6. I have always had goodluck in calling TRX Tech Support. Once waited about 2 minutes but generally get someone right away.
  7. Thank you for pointing these out. Iconverted from TaxSlayer to Taxwise. I will check these areas for possible corrections to my own conversions.
  8. Exit your returns and then change user to administrator. Click on set defaults. I believe that is under Tools. You must first delete this information in the Main Information. That will delete it on the 1040 and also 8879 or any other place where it appears. If you want to delete only on the return your are preparing then delete it on the opened return by Guest user. Hope this helps. Sorry about this post if you are not using Taxwise.
  9. A colleague said that he called and was told December 13. The ATX people already have received their 2008 software. I can't understand why we don't have a full working 2007 program already. Why do these people only give you a demo program to work with after you have already paid for the program. Why could not a functional 2007 program not be given to the users of their November meeting. I hope this is not indicative of the 2009 support that will be given next year.
  10. Carolyn, If worse comes to worse, why don't convert your old returns to Taxwise and then add the state to the Taxwise return. I hop e you do not have to do that to any previous years. If you have to amend do it manually. Heavens forbid! I notice on the TRX website that you can go back to 2006. You could print out the state return since you will have to mail it at this late date.
  11. I wonder if any of you have had experience in conversions of previous year's returns. What are some of the things to look for when checking these returns for accuracy. I am particularly concerned about depreciation schedules. Are they generally carried forward with accuracy. Still are their other factors to check for?
  12. Yes, that has been true but that person could have been an employee here in US. Our new president has recognized this problem and promised to do something about it. How many of his promises will become reality remains to be seen.

    TRX Staff

Yes, I will be at the training class on November 7th. If I get there early enough on Nov 6 I will call to see if I can come over to visit your new facilities or is that planned for the meeting on Nov 7?
  14. Don, are you making assumptions? I hope they are true but we need to hear from Doug Hughes as to what TRX is going to do. I just changed and paid for ORR. I would be pleased to get TaxWise as it was the first software I used. I didnt like their sales staff who were like used car salesmen. The sky was the limit in the price of their software and I wasnt ready to play those kind of games. TRX Alliance is an excellent idea for small preparers and I still hope I made the right decision to switch when I did. I had always wanted to go with a forms based software but it looks I am doomed to remain with a menu driven program. Ipredict that all these ATX clients will be forced to TaxWise. Nothing remains the same; we all must learn to cope.

    TRX Staff

 Mr.Hughes: You and your staff should get on this Board and provide some information to your customers about this buy out of Orr software by CCH Taxwise. What does it mean to your current customers have already paid and signed up for ORR software for the 2009 tax season. We are waiting to hear from you. This is a good service for your company and you should be involved with it. I posted an earlier message on this Board and heard nothing from you, your staff, or anyone on the Message Board. Do I have to wait until November 7th to get information? The consortium is a great idea for small independent preparers like me but your lines of communication could be better through the use of this Message Board. Chief (Billy O. Robertson)
  16. If you have previously attended one of TRX training sessions in Mursfreeboro I would like to hear what you think of these sessions. Have they been useful and worthwhile to you. I am a new user of their program and feel that I need to attend at least once. What do you think? :scratch_head:
  17. Happy Birthday, Jainen. May you have many more. My wife shares a birthday with you. My son and two grandchildren took her to Cheddars, her favorite restaurant, today.
  18. John, I love your statement.

    NT - New baby

Congratulations. May this blessed event always be a happy and satistying one.
  20. I fail to see the humor in this posting which has no business on this Board.
  21. Cathy: This does not sound good. At least they went ahead and activated the new computer for you. I fail to see the need for the company to have to activate a program that one has already purchased. The CD's should be self supporting. You should not have to rely on the company to activate a program that you had purchased already. This is definity a change they should make. The same is true for installation of the parts of the program. Why should the company have to activate each part for you.
  22. atx AND tAXWISE are going to be the same CCH company. I would be uncomfortable with this arrangement as well. I've had experience with both but am no longer associaated with either.
