  1. I also like printing out client list with date prepared. It's funny how clients are just creatures of habit. The same ones are early, same ones late, the same ones kept you hanging, and the same ones you have to hunt down to get paid.
  2. Yes, I called in and they had me set up new secret questions, gave me a temporary password, but still have to wait for a confirmation letter with code to sign in and change password.
  3. It's funny how we can understand him when he sings, just not when he torques. Maybe because in the 70s we had enhanced hearing due to the haze in the college dorms.
  4. I'm a Brooklyn Boy living outside of Boston where sometimes the translation of what I say doesn't get thru, like "card" they think I'm talking about a fish, or "coffee" they think I said cough- fee (maybe I need sub titles). They laugh at me and I say "don't make fun of the way I torque." Happy New Year everyone! We'll torque again next year.
  5. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays everyone! You're all invited to my house, I bought too much food....again. Allie is not too happy getting dressed up.
  6. I have Hiscox and they covered prior years, I think up to 20. This amazed me, but I was assured by the agent it was true and it was in writing when I received the policy.
  7. It works like it's supposed to work, that's my report for today.
  8. I read Kiplinger's Tax Letter every 2 weeks. They cover all areas including enforcement issues. Their lowest price is $38/yr and I renew for 2 years at $68. Also, every 3 weeks my barber gives me updates.
  9. it's not just you. I've been trying to access it the last few days as I needed to re register with the confirmation code I was sent. Only thing I could think of is calling them for some guidance at 866 255 0654

    new scam

Yes, I have the paid license for 3 computers, well worth it. Also the free edition of Super Anti Spyware, sometimes one catches something the other did not. It was recommended by PC Mag to use both.

    new scam

I have a policy where I don't answer any number I don't recognize, or open any emails I don't know sender, and never open a link that I am not sure of its source. They are just relentless. I have so much anti spyware and malware, and anti virus, plus CCleaner on my computers, but I still wonder what else I could do to protect everything.
  12. Thank you Lynn, I was wondering the same.
  13. We would make a fine pair at the table because I always want the liver. Allie (the dog) is on a special diet so there's no fighting. Enjoy the parade, dog show, and then football, I'm thankful for TV.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.....I know I could do this.
  15. Same to you H!WSHS!! Have a good one hanging out with family and friends. Welcome aboard.
  16. In Preferences under Open Return you need to uncheck Display IC tool tips.
  17. From the Home page you can click on My Products and you'll have all your activation codes, that is if you found the disk.
  18. On some days I do feel like one. I'm sure many of us can relate to that.
  19. Sometimes I can't see the street signs. Especially when there is a corner of one in a box, does that count or not?
  20. Yes, payroll is included. With discount (10%), tax, processing, handling, destination fee and dealer prep the price is $1,583. I think this is still a bargain.
  21. I for one do miss the phone books, especially the blue pages, and to see if an ex is still alive, I mean in the area. And great when computer or phone is on another floor. Bulldog is right, we not dealing with the same ATX, although when I call I usually get good results, thankfully not often. With the Max package we would get the MTG and 1040 and Business Quick Answers. I used them all and they made good coasters. I do miss the old days. Oh, BTW, you guys are making me LMAO.
  22. I sure hope this doesn't become the case. I pulled out the trust and will last night and it is from 2004. All the monies are to go to the daughter with the disability as the other daughter is well off. The son in law has contacted an attorney in Boston, although house is in western part of the state. My guess is that "husband" will not want any trouble as he is probably on some kind of lifetime probation. How would it look for him going from preying on minors to senior citizens. Don't know how some people look themselves in the mirror.
  23. An update to a now continuing saga that has ended sadly. My client fell in her home and broke her hip. The "husband" who did not live there found her and called 911. She spent 2 weeks in hospital then was able to go home. I was in touch with her regularly until she left the hospital. I called yesterday and could not reach her so I called a daughter in SF and was told that she passed away a few days ago. She had fallen again, laid there for 24 hours and then passed away in the hospital due to pneumonia that daughter said she had beginnings of when she originally left the hospital. So now son in law calls me and he is my best friend. I gave him whatever information he needed as he will head east soon. Now here's the very sad part. Daughters were here when she died. They went to the house to retrieve personal belongings and now husband is living there and would not let them in. I decided to Google this guy's name to find out what he did to be incarcerated for 21 years. He is a sex offender and convicted of raping a minor in 1993. Also had other similar convictions. This will hit the papers if it gets ugly. I will be mostly out of this, let the attorney and authorities handle it. I will miss my client, she was a character and we always had a good comedic back and forth. This is what happens when a special client becomes a part of your life and dies, you feel the loss just like a family member. If only she told me of her plans to marry this guy I might have googled him then and relayed the info to her and hopefully change her mind. I'm sure many of you can relate to this. Take care of yourselves, and your clients (if they let you). Bill
  24. Thanks BHoffman and ILLMAS. I did think the same as you B, but I was concerned because all his income is generated by his own efforts that IRS may want more in salary. Thanks for your response, we'll leave it as is...as it should be. Thanks, Bill
  25. My client's S Corp's revenue will be increasing substantially over the next few years. Here is my concern going forward, he says a fair rate for his type of work in his field would be $150-200/hr. He puts in 25 hrs/wk (he has another job), so that's how we came up with a 260K salary, using $200/hr x 25hrs x 52 weeks. But expenses are low and he takes out substantial distributions. So my understanding is, the salary is reasonable, the rest is gravy. The S Corp's revenue could go up to 2M next year, I am wondering if I should recommend he increase his salary, I know he'll object, (distributions would be about 1.7M) or, is it not an issue since he maxs out SS and will only be paying more in Medicare tax (he hates that). I'm just trying to make everyone happy.
