Got an e-mail back this morning. ("Oh, just forget it! I will go somewhere else!") She sure put me in my place.

I already have one that I would just love to send to the Laundromat. I inherited her along with an entire practice of a gal who gave it up this year. This one scanned and e-mailed me her last check stub tonight and wants me to look up her unemployment and give her an estimate on what her refund is going to be ASAP so she can plan her trip to South America. Of course, she is HOH and has a dependent and is looking for EIC. She thinks the more her unemployment is, the more EIC she gets. NOT!!!! I already e-mailed her back and told her to take it to VITA. (Or, do they have Laundromats in SA?)

I have had to do that Income Averaging on Lump Sum Distributions of SS Disability more than a few times over the years. The good side is the happy faces on the clients who bring in these large SSA amounts; when they find out that they don't necessarily have to pay tax on all (or any) of it. Every case is different and sometimes it may not be taxable at all; but more likely than not, some of it is if they are married or have other forms of income.

It WAS and STILL IS an option under Preferences. I never used to like it with the smaller monitors, but really like it now. It has been around for a long time.
-
I think it's been an option for a while, but with the smaller monitors it didn't work well. I DO really like it now.

In Wisconsin, subcontractors have to carry their own WC insurance and show proof to the General. He then has to submit the proof to his WC carrier.

What is the proper respose to "How Much do you charge"
mcb39 replied to Naveen Mohan from New York's topic in General Chat
Surprisingly, I have very few clients who ask about pricing until after the interview. There are even cases when I have to say "This is going to cost you approximately $............! I just want you to be sure that you want to leave this with me and that we understand each other. I have never had anyone pick up their papers and leave. I know many of you will say that indicates that I don't charge enough, but if I am happy and the client is happy; that is all that matters. -
This is an inspiration if I ever heard one! Good luck to you Granny Coral. I aspire to emulate you. I have just recently been blessed with my first great-grandchild and don't "plan " to retire any time soon. However, one never knows.

It started out clearly marked as OT-Tax Humor
-
Transmitting anything much earlier than that is sort of futile anyway. Otherwise, they keep calling with "Oh, I just got another piece of paper in the mail and you might need it!"
-
That is the answer that I found!
-
I also had to look it up.

I am currently using the LaserJet P2035 wired. It is also available in a wireless model. This will be my third year using it with ATX and no issues.
-
That is part of the issue. You should NEVER feel intimidated here. It never used to be that way. People get tense during tax season but it is inexcusable for anyone to belittle any question. There used to be an often cited quote used here. "No question is stupid". No question is too simple not to deserve a courteous answer. To the poster, the question might be huge. Let's all try harder to keep harmony on this site.

I have very good luck with Compatible cartridges from Cartridge Warehouse on Amazon. The price is amazing and the mileage is too. My low toner light has been on for over a month and I haven't even shaken it yet. I have stocked up for the coming assault.

Schools ARE closed here tomorrow again as tomorrow is now supposed to be worse than today, if that is possible. My Atomic Weather Station in my office now reads -21 degrees. All stay safe and warm!

I am also shouting ...THANK YOU GAIL!!!!! As the poster of the original headache post, I stand behind it! Yes, it is often better to say nothing at all. But, when a serious question about a serious problem is posted, it should not be railroaded into something it was not meant to be. I had that same problem and Jack fixed it. Posters on the other ATX board are clamoring for an answer to the same question. I thought this was a place that Eric (bless him) had created for us to come together to share our tax questions and answers. I have no objection at all to the Jokes or the NT posts, but none of that belonged in that original thread. What happened to our companionship and dignity? Others have left this board because of innuendoes and downright mud slinging. More will if this keeps up. Many of us have become "friends" over the years even beyond this site. Many PMs are posted and often. This is the place I head when I need a friend or a tax answer. I have learned more here than I ever learned from a book. I would like us to become a Tax Family once again.

The real reason for this thread got lost in the mud pages ago. An ATX client was having the same problem with rollovers on a NEW computer that I had. Since Jack fixed my problem, I referred that post to Jack. I believe Jack contacted the poster directly and helped him. From then on bedlam ensued. I thought this was supposed to be a tax board wherein we could help each other with program and tax issues. In addition, there are friendly and conversational threads clearly marked; between some of us who have "known" each other for a long time. I don't care how you resolve these jump-in posts that clearly lead the thread astray. But, please do try to put an end to them. I am getting a headache.

I have a 2004 V of Broderbunds "Family Lawyer" which allows you to create amortization schedules as well as promissory note. I did hear that they were trying to ban those programs. I did see, however, that our Credit Union web site has a free amortization schedule creator that you can use to figure out what you payments would be in whatever set of circumstances.

You can legally purchase moonshine now. Comes in all different flavors. Not that I have tried it, but my son bought a quart to see what it was like. (Powerful) Filled with cherries, and from what I heard, just eating one of the cherries would warm you up on a day like this. We presently have -27 degrees.
-
I had exactly the same problem on the new laptop. Jack, you need to take this one as you fixed mine.
-
I'm really glad that you are home safely and hope that you stay there. Everything here is closing for the deep freeze tonight and tomorrow.
-
They showed that and several other "tricks" on our local news the other night. Today is OK, but Mon, everything is already preparing to shut down for the polar plunge in temps. Records are shattering daily.
-
I send my yearly letter and tell them to notify me if they want an Organizer. There are a handful who I know want it and some have already picked them up. Otherwise, yes, a lot of paper and toner was being wasted. Yearly letters went out today.; as did four Organizers.

But, because his flight was delayed, I had an extra day to pick his brain. Jack is the go-to man and we so enjoyed meeting him.
