  1. Yes, but it appears that Quick Answers will be presented either online of PDF.; unfortunately. I use them both as they often tie together. Again, Less for More.
  2. I hope this is correct, but if you go to the catalog and read the description of Max, it says that Express Answers is online and PDF download. I surely would miss the spiral bound edition.

Once your family grows up, it is never right for everybody. Surprisingly, all of mine are going to come to me this year at the same time (including the new Great-Grandbaby). Yeah!!!
  4. I got rather fond of the separate modules as I was able to have both programs open at the same time if the need arose. IMHO
  5. Business use of the tablet is important to justify. Does reading the ATX Community Board count? I order the "All State" from Quickfinder about every 3rd year. So far, that has worked for me along with the State sites.
  6. I should add that my first source of reference is Pub 17; then Quickfinder 1040 and Business.; then Express Answers and the final authority is always the Master Tax Guide. They use that same book, MTG, at the local IRS office. I would really feel cheated if I lost that one.
  7. According to the ATX description of packages, Max includes the US Master Tax Guide online and in print. It says that the 1040 Express will be online or a downloadable PDF. That is a huge disappointment. I have been getting used to using it a lot more in the past few years. I KNOW that when I looked at the packages before, they included both books in print. Will be calling my sales rep on Mon.

    and mine..........
  9. In most homes nothing much happened for the next several days as entire families were glued to the TV and, as Jeanne said, mealtimes came and went. It was pretty much nonstop TV from the 22nd through the shooting of Osswald, through the lying in state and the funeral. I honestly think that anyone who lived through it and remembers it; has never felt the same. Regardless of political affiliation.
  10. I was in my living room with my two toddler boys; we had a black and white TV on a stand and in the middle of preparation for a trip to Grandma's house for hunting and Thanksgiving. Walter Cronkite came on and broke the news and the world as we knew it came to a stop.

I remember Goldblatts and Zayres. Used to go to Goldblatts with $20 and buy enough for a week. (About 50 years ago). (When I was a young whipper snapper
  12. To take it one step further, I really believe that John wants his wife to get some new sexy outfits. At least, that was my first take on it.
  13. Clients who are leaving for either Tx or Az are bring in their info and setting their slots for early April when they return. Intermittent info will be handled by mail.
  14. Yes, we do. Some of them expire with the 2013 tax filing season; and a very few are gone for good. It pays to be able to tell your clients which credits are still good for 2013, but will be gone next year. This is in the same vein as knowing when a client's child is going to turn 17 and reminding them that they are going to lose the Child Tax Credit. Sometimes they have to adjust their withholding accordingly.
  15. "Different strokes for different folks!" My solution is to keep the flip phone that I have had forever and use it along with my 10" tablet that connects to either WiFi or the wireless Phone line; whichever is available. This may be overkill to many, but I can sit on the couch, sit on the porch or in the car and use my tablet for almost anything and be able to SEE the screen. To me, these are toys. My state of the art computers are another issue; these I never skimp on beyond looking for good deals. I just gave my XP laptop which I had built to order in 07, to my married grandkids. They can use it to full advantage. I no longer can. My new 17" laptop is a real gem; as is my desktop. I don't believe in trying to run a business with out of date or broken tools.
  16. Legislation passed by Congress on Jan 1, 2013 and signed by the president on Jan 2, 2013, permanently extends several tax benefits by repealing the sunset date that applied to most provisions of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003. The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 also extends through 2013 several temporary tax relief provisions originally enacted in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009. I have the cites for each of the credits but don't have the time right now to type them all separately and variously. Some expire after 2013; some after 2014; some after 2017 and some have been extended permanently (which means, don't hold your breath). Very few were allowed to expire.
  17. According to CPE classes last week ;most extenders have been extended through 2014; some through 2017, but we all know anything can change by 2017. Much emphasis was placed on confidentiality and ethics; stressing disclosure statements attached to,but not included in engagement letters. Also, identity theft is a huge issue and one of their main issues of focus.
  18. Would just like to add that I have three Win 7 machines and they all update at different times. I never considered it a problem.
  19. I am updated through 19 and only the summary totals and summary payers are able to be printed by clicking on page.
  20. I had what I have now last year and had no issues at all with downloads, sending e-files and/or receiving acks. It may have failed the test, but so far, it has not failed me.
  21. Ditto......I passed everything too, except the Broadband and for the same reasons cited above. I have no other options. Just as I struggled for years with dialup while many of you were streaming broadband.
  22. My husband went on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight on Oct 21. It was one of the great experiences of his life. I am so happy that he got to go and that he got so much out of it.
  23. I give out my cell phone number NOW because with the family plan that we have, we now have unlimited texting and minutes. They can leave a message there as well as on my landline. Since I am out of town most weekends; I want my clients to always feel that I am available. If I don't want to take the call, I wait until later, listen to their message and call them back. Because I also have a tablet, I still have the old style cell phone that is not texting friendly. I rarely SEND a text. I OFTEN send e-mails in response to calls or texts. I will always get back to my clients the same day or the next day at the latest. Because I encourage them to call me if they have anything out of the ordinary, I have to be receptive to their calls. I don't like getting surprises in Feb or March. Good PR is one of the most important aspects of my business.
  24. IMO, that was a good decision, Bob. The new business laptop that I purchased a month ago has Win 7 upgradable to Win 8 already loaded. At this point in time, I cannot imagine ever installing that upgrade.
  25. I have my mother's old top loader Whirlpool up at the cottage. I prefer by far to wash clothes there rather than at home with my Maytag because the clothes always get so much cleaner. I used to wonder why my Mom's wash was so much cleaner than mine. Now I know. I have been using it for nine years and have no clue how long she had it before then. Another moot point is that there we have well water;, no filtering systems installed, and here at home we have city water. Go figure.
