I have Malwarebytes as well as CC Cleaner in addition to AVG. I just got a notice that this laptop (XP) needs to shut down to activate the updates. Sometimes I think they throw us a bad apple and then send us a fix. (ATX is not alone)

Why Does Running My Microwave Kill My Wi-Fi Connectivity?

Welcome to the train track club. Our answer was that if you don't like the noise, you shouldn't build near a train track. My husband's father owned this land long before they decided to erect a Power Plant across the road with trains coming and going at all hours. And, yes, even though there are lights and gates at the crossings, they still lay on the horn. We escape to the Northwoods as often as possible. Serenity and total quiet. -
Surprisingly, I had two more when I shut down at noon today. Am out of town and on my tablet now.

Many of us had told we were testing long before we knew about the Non-Disclosure

I had 28 updates to Win 7 when I shut down last night. I have had some odd stuff going on also. Seems much better today.

As I am working on extensions in the 2012 program, I am finding several improvements and enhancements in the 12.18 upgrade. FYI, so far, my creation and filing has been pretty flawless and without incident. I hadn't realized before how many changes had been made to the final version. Of course, this is coming from a Win7 64 bit, standalone system; which never did have the massive issues that others had.

Click on his picture. The second tab over says "Send me a message". Click on that and type your message and send. -
Orthopedic Doc said I should be 100% by Halloween. He should know because he operated on this injured shoulder in 2005. I really do appreciate all the concern and good wishes. Now, if clients would just quit interrupting my beta testing! Yes, it was a huge scare for my family. Not so much what happened, but what could have happened. I never have been one to sit around. Am used to doing things for myself. Went blackberry picking Sunday with my arm in the sling.

Here, too. Possible frost on Thursday. Really crazy weather.

Because I took a tumble backwards down my Granddaughter's basement steps when we were getting things ready for her baby shower. I've been reading all the posts, but not commenting much. It turns out that I am fine. Saw my Orthopedic Dr today and the shoulder we thought was separated is just bruised. Aside from a very variegated right side and some minor aches and pains, I am OK. I am also aware of how blessed I am as things could have turned out so very much worse. Today I got to throw away the sling so I can type decently. Just in time for the first day of beta testing. I am very happy to be here and able to look forward to another tax season. I don't expect you all to comment or commiserate about this. Just letting you know where I have been and that Grandma's have to learn to be more careful.

Why Does Running My Microwave Kill My Wi-Fi Connectivity?
mcb39 replied to Elrod's topic in General Chat
My main computer is not hard wired to the router. My old computer is. I have no issues with connectivity. However, I do know about the telephone frequencies as I replaced my phones with Uniden Dect 6; which eliminated that problem. With a new office addition, I have not had any issues with Wi Fi, but often have to go out on the deck to get cell phone reception: a steel roof is the culprit. When sitting in the living room with my tablet, I often have to switch to Telephone mode as the Wi Fi is iffy. Again, I blame both distance and the steel roof. Crazy stuff, eh, Catherine? -
Nope, but I have a direct link under favorites. Have done it that way for years. Saves logging in and out of my ATX. Been a pretty dull place to visit for quite a while now.

Sounds like a rip-off to me! In any case, I was surprised to get the $18 for staying home. I hate confrontation.
-
I just got off the phone with one. YIKES!!! Today must be the day. Phone has been ringing steady. Fax this, check that, I never got my refund, I don't believe I have made a penny today. Am going to run away from home!

The attorneys don't care. The payment comes out of the client's pocket.
-
I just faxed in my non-disclosure agreement. My testing starts on Sept 9.
-
The last time I didn't have to show up at the last minute. "Somebody" sent me a very small check, I think about $18, for my time.

But, the female half of my divorce return was too stubborn to listen to me and the judge had ordered that they split the income for 11 months and each claim their own for one month. It was also in the decree that I had to prepare the return as I had been their preparer for many years. I tried to tell her that didn't matter, but, oh no, she wasn't going against the decree. Now it is coming back to bite us over and over because the IRS just doesn't understand the return, even though WI does CPState. She is definitely fired once this fiasco is over. I imagine I will be subpoenaed again in Oct when she is taking him back to court for contempt. She just won't stop chewing on this bone.

EaseUS Todo Free Backup Program. Download it from FileHippo.com or FileHorse.com. This is the best backup program that I have used to date.

Divorces are not all bitter and often the couples can both be retained, particularly if there are small children involved and it is a matter of who gets to deduct who. Nobody said anyone should get kicked to the curb, but I see no value in a conflict of interest waiver. It has no valid merit. At any given time they can agree to disagree and they could care less where that leaves you. However, it is seldom a good idea to retain both parties in a divorce as clients beyond the year of the divorce (unless you like having headaches and upset stomachs) This is my opinion based on experience.
-
Getting the attorneys involved is the worst idea in my experience. Very often, attorneys know little or nothing about tax law. (Of course, there are many exceptions.) Generally divorce attorneys ask me for advice. I had one last year where the court order stated that they split income for 11 months (divorced on November 29) and claim own income for one month. They couldn't even agree on that. I told them to each claim their own income, file single and let it wash out that way. He agreed; she adamantly declined. Now, it has come back to bite them both because the IRS is just not GETTING IT! Paperwork has been returned numerous times, including again just this week. I have not found a single agent on the Federal level who understands about splitting income. On the other hand, we have had no issues with the State because WI is community property and they know all about splitting income. My advice is if they are divorced at the end of the year, have them each filed single and claim their own income. If they cannot agree; send them down the road or keep the one who is willing to follow your advice. After the year of the divorce, you are most likely going to have to fire one of them anyhow.

This is OT, but I had to share. Yesterday, my cat received a postcard from NAEA addressed to Annie (my Last Name). Now, of course, she thinks she is the office manager rather than the greeter.

But, there IS NO tax on Social Security Income.

I have not been at home for two weeks, but look forward to seeing the letter when I get back. Since my clients can still contact me at this location, I am aware that there is a lot of catch-up work waiting for me on Monday.
