But, to put that in proper perspective, you have to know how much the residents of those states are paying in sales and property tax.

It will carry forward, but the question is whether he will ever have enough taxable income and other itemizations to ever be able to use it. I sometimes see this with older taxpayers who are retired and it never gets used. For a few years I fill out the A because sometimes it will help them out on WI taxes (which allow very few things other than charity to be itemized).

I just received an e-mail from my IT guy and it said: Hi Marilyn, MalwareBytes database version 2013.04.15.12 is the problem. They made a update version and a fix tool.

Why doesn't a kid who makes from $5 to $2000 get rejected when they claim themselves? (Just askin!)

You have to have the ATX program closed; save the download to the desktop and install, reboot and then open the program. I have not tried 12.13 on XP though. I have ATX installed on XP, but am only using Win 7 desktop and laptop for tax prep, so have enough to do to keep those two updated. Good Luck.

My book indicates that it is one of the dependents who is a student. The Students SS# on 8863 must match data from the IRS Master File. It is Pub 1345A, but mine is pretty old; Catalog # is 15713E. I finally found it but don't know how much help this will be to you.

You just made me realize that I haven't seen my reject code book since I moved from old part of office to new. Now, I will be searching. I just had my second "identity theft" for the year.

Unlinking the Fed and State will solve the problem. You do that on the State e-file info page way at the top. There is a box to check.

ITS May 2013 -- Time for your ATX early renewal -- What are you
mcb39 replied to FLORIDA TAX MAN's topic in General Chat
The software appears to be about $1200 for Max with a 10% renewal discount. No date that I could find, but paper renewals should be in the mail by the end of April. Unbelievable! -
I will never click on a link to an unknown site. I have received such links in the past in e-mail from trusted friends who NEVER SENT THEM! Especially prevalent on yahoo.com. When they are posted on this board, I am usually too busy to take the time anyway. Why does someone always have to make a big "Something out of Nothing"? I read the posts that interest me and skip the ones that don't. Without this board, I would be in a world of hurt. Only a sole practitioner could understand what that truly means. Blessings to all on this board.

It was already filed, both Fed and WI. She was going home to call their special ID theft number and I gave her the Form 14039 which they will require her to fill out and send to them. I would hope that they would be willing to wait for their money in a case like this. People getting refunds wait six to eight months under the same circumstances. I am waiting for her to let me know what the IRS advises her to do.

IRS and States Swamped by Last-Minute Tax Filings
mcb39 replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
WI just sent out an e-mail to tell us not to worry. If the Fed was timely filed, the WI will be considered the same. -
How about one where the spouse's SS has already been used?. I had her stop in after work for the paperwork for identity theft. It wouldn't be so bad, but they are having a Direct Debit of over $3000 because she cashed in a $37000 Retirement plan before moving out. They filed a joint return with three dependent children because they were still married until March of this year. Does anyone know how the IRS will handle this?

Way more extensions than ever before here too.; including my own. I am just too tired to work any longer tonight without making mistakes. Actually had people dropping off returns today. Odd and crazy day. I am going to bed...........see you all tomorrow.
-
I was glad to see this post because none of mine are signed either, but none of them are going to owe. They all knew they were going on extension. Still had people calling tonight. One lady said, "I have been calling you all day and it just rang and rang." I said, "That is because I had the phone unplugged." OH???????????

Absolutely, it is all about giving back. They allow us to sit in our nice warm offices and complain. I do continue to discount after they are out, also.

I am taking a couple of hours off today to go shopping with my Granddaughter for Maternity Clothes. Yes!!!! What is more important, tax returns or a new Great Grandbaby, the first? I am thankful that all of you will be helping me with my work while I am out. Have not been out of the house since Monday. They heard the nice, strong heartbeat yesterday and are so excited.

I never charge for active Military. Anybody else have any policy in that regard.?

It is more to the benefit for the Partner to take the UPE. On the other hand, I have had the Partnership choose to "write the check" and take the deduction.
-
It goes without saying. This forum is a "friend in need" for a sole practitioner. Thank you all for easing the stress level this year.
-
With depreciation, the rule is : Allowed or Allowable. You don't HAVE to take it, but the repercussions on sale are the same.
-
You could do that or just have the Partnership reimburse him and use the deduction for the Partnership. Whichever way works best for them.

No info required for a rent credit. Lots of info required for a Homestead Credit, but it does not include a SS#.

I just want to know one thing. Why is it that every time I see a glue ball on a SSA, I think of Rita? I just finished typing in three pages of stock trades. Actually, the 8949 isn't bad when you use the detail screen. Three pages for a ST capital gain of 2125. We might be in the wrong business. I hate it when I have elderly widow ladies come in with these.
