Hey Dar! Welcome to the semi-sane board. I was going to post that info about clicking on the refund, but you beat me to it. Good to see you here.
-
It was way faster rekeying all the info. Pacun, I save and export soon and often. However, I never realized that the Fixed Assets were missing until I went to enter a new one. I fixed it by deleting the client, rolling him over again and re-entering the lost data. It really irritates me that you can export to the same file and change it, but if you want to import or restore, you don't get the option of copying over the last save. Instead, you get a copy of.........! These late glitches are giving me a sick stomach.

Have a new client who after three marriages and divorces has gone back to school. She is 46 and may have gone to school before long before the tuition credits were available. This is her (current) second year. Is she eligible for the AOC. She made a little over $6000 and her tuition paid (by loan) is $12898. She is HOH with a ten year old son. I don't know what she is living on, but her father who is also a client and referred her to me is pretty wealthy. I don't want to make a mistake here, but is she entitled to the small refundable portion of AOC that calculates when I do the Education worksheet. Anyone?

That happened to me twice before the update to 2012.10; not since. However, tonight I lost my FAM on a complicated return and had to roll the client over again; then re-enter pages of data that I lost. I had the export, but that was missing the FAM. Things have been going pretty smooth here, but now things are getting goofy again.

Definitely C and D.

I filed mine this morning and my 94 year-old client who is very sharp; was also very happy. She actually ended up with a loss, but the stock sales of over 77,000 shares were documented. It is called peace of mind. And I did it pro bono

AWWWWWWW! I just sent you a PM before I saw this message.

Where is the AGI coming from? Did one of them work part-time? Disability would not be showing up in the AGI as that would be included in the SS. If one of them worked, they do qualify for EIC.

I pull all the files the day before for the next day's appts. I also roll over the clients at that time. I like paper and always will even though a lot of people don't. However, teaching an old dog new tricks is not true.

Correct.....I do not hate her. If I did, I would fire her. As conforming as she is about everything else; she is also willing and prompt to pay. But, her final words are: "Don't hold on to that check too long cuz it messes up my check book!" I HAVE to love her because she is hard to love.

I have one that is nearly ninety and has not filed in years, but, because she sold stocks this year we are going to file a return just for her peace of mind.

Surprisingly, though she drives me nuts at times, I have a Cosmotologist client who DOES keep a mileage and DOES keep track of and include in income all of her tips. Not only that, but she pays her quarterly estimates on time and keeps excellent inventory records. On the other hand she is so organized that she wants me to drop whatever I am doing and tend to her needs at the drop of a hat. (license renewals, sales tax reports, etc) Otherwise, the model client. She has Green Bay Packers license plates and does not log her mileage from her home to the shop where she rents a chair.

He is alive and well and very sharp! End of Story.

Am glad to hear that. I just had one come in with 84 pages from Curian Clearing. They did do a nice summary and that is what I am going to use. We have the PDF if they want it.

Mine is 7 Home Premium, but results are good. Is there that much difference between OS?
-
I got that one too. Yes, creepy!

Yes, it is VERY nice. But, I worked the same computer for ten years so should have been able to afford a new computer. This is my fourth desktop in over thirty years in this insane career and each one was ordered to my personal specifications. I have a plaque on my wall underneath my RTRP (probably worthless) certificate that says "If You Can Dream It; You Can Do It". I am living my left-handed dreams.

I have Win7 64 bit i5 with 16 G Ram. I have thought for a long time now that is the answer for standalones. I had a gut feeling early on that I didn't want a network and my IT fella agreed with me. I am using WIFI for the laptop and this one and the old XP is direct connect. Eventually he will move the modem to this one; once MS stops supporting XP. Early on, I think we all knew that networks were the worst affected and I feel very sorry for them because it has been a struggle for all of. Theirs must be unbearable.

I have no issues with the 8949. Go Figure. I still very much prefer the old method of entering stock sales.

Boxes on the floor staring at me. A client on the way home from AZ with a 1099R showing a $500,000 K taxable withdrawal that should be a rollover and a pile of half-finished returns. Such is life. However, I am going to lunch today with my husband and sons; working tomorrow and cooking on Sunday. Most Sunday's I unplug the landline in the afternoon to take a nap because people have very little respect or common sense. OIH means you are up for grabs. On the other hand, there are advantages. A very blessed and happy Easter to all of you who celebrate it; and a beautiful weekend to the rest of you as well!

I knew already last year that my ten year old XP would not be able to calculate another year of ATX or any other tax software. It was really churning at the end of the season and I don't want it to die because it has lots of valuable use for other things. If we are going to do this job properly, updated and well maintained equipment is a must.

Our Doctor calls that a "spin"! Really! He won't tell if he uses the same tube, but he says he does the esophagus first.

You can only be the good guy just so long. I pretty much let them know that once they are on their own and working, there will be a fee; all depending on the circumstances. Some of these "kids" are making more money than I am and spending it all.

I had one for over $4000 which is much more than a few hundred bucks. This time the husband got nailed for his non-working, separated from spouse who had student loans before he married her. He just found out. I fully intend to file for the injured spouse wen I get caught up with regular stuff. And, no, he is done helping her with her bills. If it weren't for two small children that she uses as pawns, he would send her off forever.

It is a pre-tax deduction.
